As a World War II Gold Star family member this outrages me beyond words.

What next will Obama raise the Rising Sun flag above the U.S.S Arizona?

This move disgraces the memory of the 1,177 men that died on the Arizona.

President Barack Obama and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe paid a historic visit to Pearl Harbor on Tuesday, more than 75 years after Japan attacked the U.S. naval base.

President Obama announced on Dec. 7 – the 75th anniversary of Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor – his plans to visit the USS Arizona Memorial with Prime Minister Abe, describing the gesture “as a tribute to the power of reconciliation” between the two countries.

On Tuesday, Abe became the first sitting Japanese leader to visit the site of the attack in 1941 that killed over 2,000 Americans and brought the U.S. into World War II.

President Obama paid a similar visit to Hiroshima in May, where he paid his respects to the victims of the atomic bombing that ended World War II in 1945 and called for an end to nuclear weapons.

President Obama and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will deliver remarks on the occasion after they pay their respects at the memorial.
