Leaked Email: Clinton Campaign ‘Killed’ Bloomberg Story Linking Bill’s $500k Moscow Speech To Russia-Friendly Stance

H/T Breitbart Jerusalem.

This surprises you in what way and why?

TEL AVIV — A leaked email from Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign previously published by Wikileaks may take on new significance because it relates to key issues brought up in media reports about Donald Trump Jr. and a meeting with a Russian lawyer.

The email in question was purportedly sent by Jesse Lehrich, a Clinton campaign foreign policy spokesman and member of the campaign’s rapid response communications team.

In the correspondence, which has not yet received news media attention and remains searchable in the WikiLeaks archive, Lehrich writes that the campaign “killed a Bloomberg story” attempting to link Clinton’s opposition to the anti-Russia legislation known as the Magnitsky Act to a speech that Bill Clinton delivered in Moscow for $500,000.

The May 21, 2015 message, titled, “May 21st Nightly Press Traffic Summary,” was purportedly sent by Lehrich to the campaign’s “HRCRapid” Google group, and was captured by the leaking of campaign chairman John Podesta’s Gmail account emails.

Lehrich’s list of press actions carried out by the campaign included this:

With the help of the research team, we killed a Bloomberg story trying to link HRC’s opposition to the Magnitsky bill to a $500,000 speech that WJC gave in Moscow.

Based on Peter Schweizer’s bestselling book Clinton Cash, the New York Times in April 2015 reported on Clinton’s $500,000 speech in Moscow and its possible ties to a deal in which the Russians gradually assumed control of the Uranium One mining company.

The newspaper reported “the sale gave the Russians control of one-fifth of all uranium production capacity in the United States.”

The newspaper further reported:

Clinton received $500,000 for a Moscow speech from a Russian investment bank with links to the Kremlin that was promoting Uranium One stock.

The Magnitsky Act, strongly opposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, is intended to sanction Russian officials accused of involvement in the 2009 death of Russian lawyer Sergei Magnitsky, an anti-corruption whistleblower who died in prison, allegedly after being beaten.

As Foreign Policy magazine noted, the Obama administration – with Clinton as secretary of state – initially balked in 2010 when Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) introduced the Magnitsky bill, fearing the legislation could harm the much touted “reset” attempt between the U.S. and Moscow.

Clinton helped lead the charge against the bill, the magazine reported. “The administration, starting with Hillary Clinton and then John Kerry, did everything they could do to stop the Magnitsky act,” said American hedge fund manager Bill Browder, who was instrumental in lobbying Congress in favor of the bill.

In a piece titled, “Hillary Clinton forgets her part in a disastrous Russia policy,” Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin referred to Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state, asking, “Why did the State Department try to block the Magnitsky Act for so long?”

In 2012, the bill was passed when powerful lawmakers demanded the Magnitsky Act be grouped with the administration’s legislative push to repeal the Jackson-Vanik Amendment, a move that would ease U.S.-Russia trade relations because the law denied Moscow the ability to trade normally with the U.S.

On June 20, 2012, Clinton wrote an oped in the Wall Street Journal titled “Trade With Russia Is a Win-Win,” in which she sought to explain that retaining Jackson-Vanik “only fuels more anti-American sentiment in Russia.”

“Russia’s membership in the WTO (World Trade Organization) will soon be a fact of life,” she stated. “Failing to extend permanent normal trading relations will not penalize Russia, nor will it provide a lever with which to change Moscow’s behavior.”

In the oped, Clinton referred to Magnitsky’s death and wrote, “We are continuing to work with Congress on addressing these issues.”

Despite the questions raised about Clinton’s initial opposition to the Magnitsky Act, her actions to ease trade restrictions on Russia, and her husband’s ties to entities close to the Uranium One deal, former Clinton Campaign Press Secretary Brian Fallon took to CNN on Tuesday to accuse President Trump of enacting foreign policy toward Russia that may be “part of a quid pro quo based on help that was provided during the campaign.” No evidence has emerged of any collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

The Magnitsky legislation, meanwhile, has been in the news cycle over the past few days in regard to the story about Trump Jr. and his meeting with a Russian lawyer.

The issue emerged on Saturday when the New York Times published an exclusive story citing “confidential government records described to the New York Times” alleging that Trump Jr. arranged a meeting at Trump Tower two weeks after Trump secured the Republican nomination with Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Russian attorney who, the newspaper claimed, “has connections to the Kremlin.”

The Times subsequently published what it says are the contents of correspondence indicating that the meeting with Veselnitskaya was set up by third parties who claimed that Veselnitskaya had dirt on Clinton. It would not be abnormal for a political campaign to take a meeting with an individual claiming to have compromising information on an opponent.

Instead of providing dirt on Clinton, Trump Jr. said that Veselnitskaya used the time to complain about the Magnitsky Act.

“The woman, as she has said publicly, was not a government official,” Trump Jr. said in a statement on Tuesday. “And as we have said, she had no information to provide and wanted to talk about adoption policy and the Magnitsky Act. To put this in context, this occurred before the current Russian fever was in vogue. As Rob Goldstone said just today in the press, the entire meeting was ‘the most inane nonsense I ever heard. And I was actually agitated by it.’”

In an interview with NBC News, Veselnitskaya denied that she is connected to the Kremlin.

Trump Jr. subsequently released a chain of emails that showed how the meeting was set up.

Senate Panel Hearing Mulls Cutting Funding to Palestinians for Rewarding Terrorists

H/T Breitbart Jerusalem.

No more taxpayers money going to any Palestinian cause.

On Wednesday, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee held a hearing to discuss the Taylor Force Act, which, if passed, would cut financial aid from the United States to the Palestinian Authority (PA) unless the PA stops its “pay for slay” payments which reward terrorists.

The hearing highlighted the differences between the Obama and Trump administrations’ policies and approach towards Israel.

The Taylor Force Act, which was introduced by Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Dan Coats (R-IN), and Roy Blunt (R-MO) in 2016, was named after a U.S. Army veteran who was killed by a Palestinian terrorist that same year.

The PA currently pays 26,800 families of “Martyrs” $183 million (NIS 660 million) annually, and 6,500 terrorist prisoners reportedly receive $135 million (NIS 486 million) per year.

“The Palestinian Authority is, in fact, rewarding terror,” Former Assistant Secretary of State Elliott Abrams said during the hearing. “There’s no way around that conclusion. And it does not really matter whether the payments are formally made by the Palestinian Authority or the PLO.”

If passed, the Taylor Act would require the U.S. secretary of state to verify that the PA has ended its payments to terrorists and their kin and would also require the PA to publicly condemn terrorist attacks and take steps to bring these perpetrators to justice.

“The United States is the largest donor to Palestinians, year after year,” Abrams said, noting that U.S. assistance to the PA has totaled more than $5 billion since the establishment of the PA in the 1990s. He added, “In recent years, aid from the Economic Support Fund (ESF) has amounted to over $300 million per year,” but also noted that “Those figures do not count assistance we give through the United Nations agency UNRWA, which is now approaching $6 billion since that organization’s founding.”

Former U.S. Ambassador to Israel under the Obama administration Dan Shapiro also testified. He argued against cutting aid from the PA and noted his view that “the solvency of the PA itself… is not going to be affected by this legislation. But it could be affected by Israel’s own measures.”

“It’s possible that a total cutoff of economic funds would lead” Abbas to changing the PA’s policies, Shapiro said, adding, “It’s also possible that it would lead him to digging in his heels.” He then suggested that “the threat of it has greater leverage than the actual cutoff itself.” Under former President Barack Obama, U.S.-Israel relations were not at their height. Shapiro also suggested that instead of cutting off aid to the PA, that the funds be sent “directly into PA coffers, such as for or to pay off their debts to electricity companies, may be a better way to target that cutoff.”

On Tuesday, the Israel Electricity Company (IEC) and PA signed their first commercial agreement in which Israel granted them with a new power plant.

At one point during the hearing, Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) referred a letter from a group of Israeli security officials called the “Commanders for Israel’s Security” (CIS) who suggested that passing the Taylor Force Act would undermine the PA’s security cooperation with Israel. “I believe I read that there were a large group of former Israeli generals who have cautioned us to be careful about not making the situation worse and therefore ending up having more Israelis killed. Can one of you expand on that?”

In response to the CIS letter, a group of 13 retired security officials wrote a joint op-ed in the Jerusalem Post, noting that the group “are fundamentally mistaken” in opposing America’s efforts to punish the PA for its support and enabling of terror.” It is indeed difficult to comprehend how a group that calls itself ‘Commanders for Israel’s Security’ opposes taking steps against a policy that directly and acutely endangers the security of Israel,” they wrote.

Abrams responded to Merkley saying, “I think Israeli generals are divided on this. They don’t want to see chaos in the West Bank, none of us want to see that. But this practice has got to be stopped.”

The testimonies of Abrams and Shapiro highlighted the underlying differences between the Obama and Trump administrations regarding Israel and the Middle East.

In May, the senators wrote a letter to President Donald Trump urging him to demand that PA leader Mahmoud Abbas end his government’s years-long practice of rewarding terrorists and their families with compensation for attacks against Israel and its citizens.

However, the PA rejected the U.S. government’s request. Abbas’s senior foreign policy adviser, Nabil Shaath, reportedly referred to the U.S. request as “absurd” during an interview with Israel Radio and suggested, “That would be like asking Israel to stop paying its soldiers.”

Last week, Abbas reportedly vowed that he would never stop the “pay for slay” practice. “Even if I will have to leave my position, I will not compromise on the salary (rawatib) of a Martyr (Shahid) or a prisoner, as I am the president of the entire Palestinian people, including the prisoners, the Martyrs, the injured, the expelled and the uprooted,” he said according to a Palestinian Media Watch translation of a quote he wrote on the Fatah’s Facebook page.

WATCH – Abbas’ Senior Adviser: Western Wall Must Be Under Muslim Control

There will never be a peaceful solution to the Israeli and Palestinian issue because they will not recognize Israel’s right to exist.

TEL AVIV – The Western Wall should always remain under Muslim control and we will not give a single millimeter to the Israelis, the Palestinian Authority’s supreme Sharia judge and senior adviser to PA President Mahmoud Abbas said on Friday, contradicting earlier remarks made by a PA official who acknowledged that the Wall is one of Judaism’s holiest sites and as such should remain in Jewish hands.

“The al-Buraq wall is an integral part of the Islamic faith and religion, and is associated with the Prophet Muhammad,” Mahmoud al-Habash said in a sermon broadcast on official Palestinian Authority TV, using the Islamic name for the Western Wall.

“It is an Islamic Waqf (endowment) that can never be for non-Muslims. It cannot be under the sovereignty of non-Muslims. … The al-Buraq wall belongs to us and cannot be conceded,” he added.

“We cannot possibly relinquish a single millimeter, a single stone, a single micromillimeter of the Al-Buraq Wall and of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

The Western Wall is the last remaining outer wall of the Temple Mount complex and is the holiest place for Jews to pray. Muslims believe the Prophet Muhammad tied al-Buraq, his winged horse, to the wall when he made his journey from Mecca to Jerusalem.

Habash’s remarks came days after senior Fatah official Jibril Rajoub said on Israeli TV that the wall is a Jewish holy site and as such must remain under Jewish sovereignty.

“We understand [the wall is] a holy place to the Jews. In the end, it must remain under Jewish sovereignty. We have no argument about that. This is a Jewish holy place,” Rajoub told Channel 2 TV in Hebrew.

Rajoub, who is also head of the Palestinian Football Association, was praising U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to reach a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians and commenting on Trump’s visit last month to Israel and the West Bank.

Rajoub, who has in the past stated that he is proud he served time in an Israeli jail for lobbing a grenade at a bus full of IDF soldiers in 1970, later tried to deny he ever made such a statement. In a Facebook post, he declared that his remarks were mistranslated, and that he had not referred to Israeli sovereignty.

Last month, Trump became the first sitting U.S. president to visit the Western Wall, but did so as a private visit. Last week, U.S. envoy to the UN Nikki Haley visited the wall in what was also billed as a private visit.

Nikki Haley in Jerusalem: We Won’t Let UN Bully Israel Any More

Genesis 12:2-3 New Living Translation (NLT)

I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.

I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through

The United Nations is just a bunch of anti semitic thugs.

TEL AVIV – On a visit to Israel, Washington’s ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley slammed the international organization for “bullying” Israel and assured Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the U.S. has the Jewish state’s back.

Haley, who arrived Wednesday for a three-day visit, said she was “overwhelmed” by the positive response she has received since taking a stand against the anti-Israel bias at the international body.

“If there’s anything I have no patience for, it’s bullies,” Haley told Netanyahu, “and the UN was being such a bully to Israel because they could.”

“I think they know they can’t keep responding in the way they’ve been responding. They sense that the tone has changed,” she added.

Netanyahu thanked her for coming and for standing up for Israel and the “truth,” which he said “is standing up for America.”

“People appreciate truth,” he said. “We have an ancient Hebrew saying that when somebody tells a truth, you can feel it. So people feel it, they not only understand it, they feel it. And we feel it. We’re glad to see the fruits of your efforts, uncommon common sense.”

Netanyahu said that President Donald Trump and Haley have “changed the discourse, have drawn new standards, and everybody’s taking [them] up, and that’s great. I think it makes a world of difference, both for Israel and the U.S.”

President Reuven Rivlin, who also welcomed Haley to the country, said that her efforts have meant that “Israel is no longer alone in the UN, Israel is no longer the UN’s punching bag.”

However, Rivlin added “there is still a long way to go,” both in terms of anti-Israel statements issued by UN agencies and the “absurd” number of sessions and resolutions reprimanding Israel.

Haley reiterated her assurances to Netanyahu that “we are not going to let that happen anymore.”

“It is a new day for Israel in the United Nations,” she said.

Haley flew to Israel from Geneva, where she threatened the UN Human Rights Council that the U.S. will bow out as a member state unless the Council commits to ending its anti-Israel bias. She added that she hoped “it will be a new day at the Human Rights Council when it comes to Israel.”

Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely, who was in attendance at the ceremony, presented Haley with a 1,400-year-old pendant showing an ancient menorah found during an archaeological dig at the City of David in Jerusalem.

“On behalf of the Israeli public I thank you for your many actions to correct the bias against Israel at the UN and to fight for the truth,” she said. “The disgraceful efforts at the UN to surrender to Palestinian propaganda and sever the ties between the Jewish people and Jerusalem can end when the U.S. leads a change in the UN’s direction.”

Report: Almost Half of Germans Agree With Israel-Centric Anti-Semitism

H/T Breitbart Jerusalem.

The spectre of Adolf Hitler is once again on the rise in Germany and trying to overshadow Israel and the Jewish people.

Modern anti-Semitism in Germany is increasingly being found to include criticism of the modern state of Israel in general and Jews in particular, according to a new report.

The Independent Expert Group on anti-Semitism published its findings in Germany at the end of last month. It found Jews are “increasingly concerned for their safety due to everyday experiences of anti-Semitism” as the number surveyed who agreed with anti-Semitic statements rose from 28 per cent in 2014 to 40 per cent in 2016.

It added:

“While the non-Jewish majority does not see current manifestations of anti-Semitism as a relevant problem, Jews in Germany feel they are facing a growing threat… there is concern about anti-Semitism among Muslims, these days especially in refugee and migrant populations.”

German broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) reports the 311-page study has the support of politicians from across the political spectrum, observing that more needs to be done to fight modern forms of anti-Semitism in the country. The Expert Group said that while traditional forms of anti-Semitism had declined somewhat, modern anti-Semitism, for example, criticism of Israel being transferred to Jews in general, remained “alarmingly popular”.

About 200,000 Jews live in Germany, Europe’s third largest community after Britain and France, up from only about 15,000 who survivied after the end of the Nazi Third Reich.

“Forty percent agree with Israeli-centered anti-Semitism,” Green Party member of the Bundestag Volker Beck told DW. “That’s almost half of the society. It says a lot about the intellectual environment in which Jews have to live.”

“New forms of anti-Semitism have arisen, and unfortunately the end of the Holocaust and the Second World War didn’t mean the end of anti-Semitism,” conservative MP Barbara Woltmann said. “It does worry me that around 20 percent latent anti-Semitism still exists within the populace.”

The parliamentary panel report said rising Jewish fears were partly due to “the growing importance of social media”, which was “key to the spread of hate speech and anti-Semitic agitation”.

The experts issued five “key demands” to fight anti-Semitism. They include appointing an anti-Semitism ombudsman, establishing a national data base for anti-Semitic crimes and providing long-term support for groups researching and trying to combat anti-Semitism.

As Breitbart Jerusalem reported, in Germany at the end of 2016 there were 2,083 reported cases of attacks on Jews, Jewish property, and hate speech in 2015, up from just 691 cases in 2014.

Previous analysis of crime figures had put the number of anti-Semitic cases in 2015 at 1,366, but closer analysis revealed that crimes such as the smashing of headstones in Jewish ceremonies, or starting fires at synagogues had been incorrectly classified as criminal damage or attempted arson in some states, with no mention made of the anti-Semitic nature of the crimes.

Senators to Trump: Tell Abbas to End ‘Pay-for-Slay’ Payments to Palestinian Terrorists

H/T Breitbart Jerusalem.

Mahmoud Abbas needs to be treated like the terrorist scum he is and kicked in his fat murdering ass.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Marco Rubio (R-F), and Tom Cotton (R-AR) have written a letter to President Donald Trump urging him to demand that Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas end his government’s years-long practice of paying terrorists and their families for attacks against Israel and its citizens when he meets with him at the White House Wednesday.

The practice is known as “pay-for-slay.”

The delegation also asked Trump to reverse former President Barack Obama’s “double-standard” policy that downplayed the PA’s support for terrorism and put the responsibility to achieving peace almost solely on Israel.

“One of the most troubling aspects of the Obama administration’s handling of this issue was the double standard applied to the two parties,” the letter, acquired by the Washington Free Beacon, states. “This double standard saw Israel criticized and condemned regularly, while the Palestinian Authority and its leadership were rarely, if ever, held accountable. This unwillingness to speak out when the PA rewarded and glorified terrorism left many with the mistaken impression that the PA was earnestly seeking peace — and that Israel was the impediment.”

The letter goes on to note:

The Palestinian Authority spends around $300 million a year – about eight percent of its budget – paying salaries and benefits to convicted terrorists and their families, including to those who have killed Americans, such as U.S. Army veteran Taylor Force. Far from being an informal practice, these payments are codified in Palestinian Authority law. The more deadly the attack, the larger the payments. Alongside lavish financial benefits, PA law establishes assistance programs to promote the careers of those who served time in jail for attacks – in essence, an affirmative action program for terrorists, funded by U.S. aid.

The Washington Free Beacon points out that the $300 million the PA spends on salaries for its Palestinian terrorists accounts for approximately eight percent of its total budget. This money comes from millions of dollars paid by U.S. taxpayers.

“The United States cannot treat the Palestinian Authority as a partner for peace, or take seriously president Abbas’s claimed desire for peace, so long as the PA is spending hundreds of millions of dollars a year funding and incentivizing terror,” the letter reportedly states.

The Senators reportedly also asked Trump to express support for the Taylor Force Act; a new piece of legislation introduced in the House Foreign Affairs Committee in February by Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO) which seeks to cut U.S. funding (created under the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961) to the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza until payments to terrorists cease.

Breitbart News recently reported on the Islamic State’s presence in the West Bank: “A Palestinian member of the Islamic State group who is prominent on social media claims to have unmasked an attempt by Palestinian intelligence to infiltrate groups of IS supporters in the West Bank.”

News Media Ignoring Illegal Palestinian Construction On Jewish-Owned Land In Jerusalem

H/T Breitbart Jerusalem.

The lamestream media will ignore the illegal construction by the Palestinians due largely to their rabid anti semitism.

I would like to see the Israeli government send in bulldozers and remove the illegal construction.

All of the land was given to Abraham by God so it belongs only to Israel.

AHMAD GHARABLI/AFP/Getty

TEL AVIV – Amid reports that Israel has revived plans to construct a new neighborhood in the eastern sections of Jerusalem, it is instructive to review the largely untold story of Palestinians building entirely illegally on Jewish-owned property in the same areas.

The illegal Palestinian construction has worked to generate facts on the ground, creating de facto Palestinian neighborhoods inside peripheral Jerusalem that are virtual no-go zones for Israeli civilians. The illegal housing has impacted previous Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. Numerous Israeli-Palestinian peace proposals designated these very areas future Palestinian territory due to the large concentrations of Palestinians living in them.

Last week, Haaretz reported on the Israel Housing Ministry’s decision to bring back plans to build a Jewish neighborhood in the currently defunct Atarot Airport, located near Qalandia just north of Jerusalem.

Haaretz reported:

Atarot Airport, the planned site of the new neighborhood, was abandoned at the beginning of the second intifada some 15 years ago for fear that the Palestinians would shoot at planes taking off there. The airport is located next to the separation barrier, not far from the Qalandia checkpoint.

The plan also spans areas west of the airport, outside the municipal area of Jerusalem in the West Bank, in lands that are nevertheless under Jewish ownership.

The Times of Israel reported the new Jerusalem homes would span several neighborhoods:

Of the 15,000 units planned over the Green Line, the lion’s share would be in two new residential neighborhoods: Atarot in the north of the city and Givat Hamatos in the south.

Another 2,000 homes would be built in Givat Hamatos, a mostly empty hill that critics say could cut East Jerusalem off from neighboring Bethlehem.

A further 3,000 would be built in Ramat Shlomo, an existing ultra-Orthodox neighborhood in the city’s north.

Some in the news media are painting the homes as controversial because they are slated for the eastern sections of Jerusalem. Judaism’s holiest sites – the Temple Mount and Western Wall – are located in eastern Jerusalem, which is steeped in Jewish history.

The Jews maintained a historic presence in Jerusalem, including in the eastern sections, until they were forced to leave the Old City en masse in 1948. Jordan illegally occupied and annexed the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem from 1948 until Israel captured the lands in a defensive war in 1967.

The 1967 Six Day War was launched after Arab countries used the territories to stage attacks against the Jewish state.  In 1988, Jordan officially renounced its claims to the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem and unilaterally recognized terrorist Yasser Arafat’s Palestine Liberation Organization as “the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.”

Lost in the news media coverage of eastern Jerusalem is that major swaths of land there are legally owned by Jews, including at the Atarot Airport and in Qalandia where the plans for the new Jewish homes are centered.

In 2007, this reporter extensively investigated those areas and found Jewish-owned land was utilized to illegally construct Palestinian apartment buildings, a refugee camp and a United Nations school.

I reported at the time:

The properties in question include about 270 acres in the northern Jerusalem neighborhoods of Qalandia and Kfar Akev, located near an old Israeli airport, and about 50 acres in a north Jerusalem suburb known as Shoafat, which is adjacent to the Jewish neighborhood of Pisgat Zeev.

The lands were legally purchased on behalf of JNF using Jewish donations in the early 1900s, immediately after the organization was founded in 1901 with the specific charge of repurchasing and developing the land of Israel for Jewish settlement.

A tour of Qalandiya and Kfar Akev found dozens of Arab apartment complexes, a Palestinian refugee camp and a United Nations school for Palestinians constructed on the land.

I also further reported in 2009 these de facto Palestinian enclaves in peripheral Jerusalem neighborhoods have become virtual no-go zones for Jewish Israelis due to security concerns. The Jerusalem police confirmed at the time that security arrangements discourage Israeli Jews from entering the neighborhoods. Those security arrangements are still in effect today.
