There’s Road Rage, and Then There’s This Woman

People like this is one more reason why I carry a gun.

Editor’s Note:

Video in this story contains strong language.

A North Carolina woman was arrested after an unhinged road range incident was caught on video and turned over to police.

Kristin Leigh Phillips was charged with reckless driving to endanger, assault and battery, injury to personal property, driving left of center and two counts of communicating threats, the Courier-Tribune reported.

Sherri Hastings, who videotaped Saturday’s incident, is disabled and has a handicapped license plate, the New York Daily News reported. She was driving behind Phillips in Randleman when Phillips stopped her SUV, exited, rushed back to Hastings’ vehicle and began yelling.

“You goddamn f***ing following someone behind their goddamn ass, you stupid goddamn bitch!” Phillips hollered as she punched through Hastings’ partially open driver’s side window.

At that point, a child in Hastings’ vehicle — her 6-year-old granddaughter, the Daily News reported — began crying as Hastings yelled for Phillips to stop.

As Phillips walked back to her SUV, she turned, raised two middle fingers at Hastings and yelled “f*** you!”

Describing what prompted the incident on YouTube, Hastings said Phillips tried passing her twice on a two-lane road with double lines on a hill and nearly ran her off the road. She said she let Phillips pass, then called 911 and began recording with her cellphone “which was in a holder on dash board hands free.”

Hastings said she drove trucks for 15 years and “knew what was going to happen” and “wanted it on tape.”

Randolph County Sheriff’s deputies posted images from the incident on Facebook, Det. Sergeant Bernie Maness told the Daily News, which led to tips from the public. After eluding authorities for most of the day, Phillips, 40, turned herself in Monday night and was released after posting bail, the Daily News reported.

“This is a grandmother with a handicapped sign and child in the car,” Maness told the Daily News. “We don’t do that here.”

Here’s the clip — Phillips exits her SUV to confront Hastings just after the 3-minute mark (content warning: profanity ahead):

Guns aren’t dangerous or racist

Guns are a vital part of American history.

Are you a racist if you own a gun?

If you believe a new study, whites who own guns do so because they harbor racist feelings towards blacks. Indeed, in the study, four Australian and British psychologists also claim that racism is associated with opposition to gun control.

The lead paragraph on this study in Friday’s New York Daily News summed up the claim this way: “Racism and guns go together.”

So how is racism measured? Well, you are apparently “racist” if you don’t agree that the legacy of slavery still has a great impact on how blacks are faring today. After all, slavery was abolished 158 years ago.

Besides, blacks were doing relatively better on many dimensions, such as family stability, during the early 1960s than today.

Of course, people might disagree with these points, but that doesn’t mean that they are racist.

OK, so conservatives are more likely to own guns than liberals (big surprise there), and they are more likely to believe that people are more responsible for how well they do in life than something that happened to their ancestors over a century and a half ago.

Even more telling, when I examined this data set I found that non-whites and blacks who hold these supposedly “racist” views on slavery are also more likely to own guns.

So let’s get this straight. Blacks who don’t believe that slavery in the U.S. is important in explaining how well a black does in today’s society hates other blacks and is thus more likely to own a gun?

The authors focus on people who are racist being the ones who are more likely to buy guns, but they also speculate: “simply owning a firearm may lead whites to develop more negative attitudes towards blacks. There is some experimental research showing that participants who have recently held a firearm produce enhanced salivary testosterone levels and display increased aggression toward others.”

Seriously? So are blacks and non-whites also becoming more racist against blacks after they buy guns?

The study’s lead author, Kerry O’Brien, explained to the New York Daily News that their conclusions are so sensible because: “There had already been research showing that … blacks are more likely to be shot, so we thought there must be something happening between the concept of being black and some whites wanting guns.”

There is an obvious problem with this claim. Blacks, not whites, are killing blacks. Indeed, in 2012, over 91 percent of blacks were murdered by other blacks.

O’Brien contends: “we couldn’t make sense of why there would be resistance to gun reform in the U.S.” and that “we found the arguments for opposing gun control counterintuitive and somewhat illogical.”

Wrong again. The police can’t protect everyone, instantly, 24-hours a day, seven-days-a-week. And the fact that victims might be able to defend themselves can also deter criminals.

Ironically, O’Brien told an Australian newspaper: “the freezing of government funding for any social research associated with guns since the late 1990s had effectively ‘suppressed’ information on the subject.”

If his own study is an example of the quality of the academic research the government would fund, we are indeed better served not wasting taxpayer dollars on it.

But a more serious answer is that I was able to put together the data used in their paper in a couple hours. Academics across the world are being paid to do research. It is part of their job.

If someone teaches only six hours a week during the school year, how hard is it to find time for research?

I have done the largest studies on crime and I never had to receive a grant from the federal government to do my research.

There is another problem with the federal government doling out funds for research. Politicians just cannot separate politics from the money hand out. They aren’t bribing researchers, but they favor researchers who are likely to agree with them.

Disappointingly, none of the media coverage on this paper even bothered asking other academics to critique these claims.

The notion that gun owners must be racist appears to fit journalists’ worldview so well it probably never dawned on them that this research was fatally flawed.

If you really want to confront racism and gun ownership, ask why liberals keep pushingnew taxes and fees on gun owners that primarily disarm poor blacks. Why don’t liberals think that poor blacks can be trusted with guns?

Race Crime-TNB In Brooklyn: “Get That White Whore!,” “Get Those Crackers!” As They Beat White Couple

Sons of Obama just doing what they do on any given Sunday.  Why are white people still not armed?  Because the complicit, Bolshevik media hides these crimes and whites have no idea they are the target.  Get armed white people.

A group of 10 black youths — one of them a 12-year-old girl — surrounded a white couple’s car in Brooklyn, viciously beating the husband and yanking the wife to the pavement by her hair as they peppered the two with racial slurs, authorities said.

“Get those crackers!” some of them screamed, according to court papers. “Get that white whore!”

Oprah Has A Pattern Of False Racism Charges Conveniently Timed To Coincide With Theatrical Releases of Racist Movies….

Hat Tip To Last Refuge.

Oprah Winfrey is a race hustler just like Al Sharpton,Jessie Jackson and

Barack Milhous Capone Kardashian.

They see a racist under every bed and around every corner.

Race relations are lower than any point in modern history thanks to

Al Sharpton,Jessie Jackson and Barack Milhous Capone Kardashian.

Two weeks ago, drumming up attention toward her movie, Oprah Winfrey made the bizarre claim that millions of African Americans were lynched.   Millions.  The true figure is 4,743 with one in four being white (1882-1968).

Last week Oprah Winfrey claimed sheencountered racism in Switzerland while shopping for $30,000+ purses.   [<—we should all be $o unfortunate]

She made these claims while trying to draw attention to her soon-to-be-released movie “The Butler”;  another race-based grievance movie.

The Swiss store, and the hapless victim/clerk she targeted with her accusations, denied the allegations.   Oprah then tried walking back her accusation, well… sort of, but not really, because she’s Oprah, or something.

However, there appears to be a pattern here.

In 2005 while trying to draw attention to another race driven movie, The Crash, she had almost an identical claim.   The 2005 victim of her accusations was located in Paris, France.  The store was “Hermes”:

story.oprah.file.cnn.jpgVia CNN […]  “Crash” is a film dealing with race relations. The phrase “crash moment” refers to situations where a party feels discriminated against on the basis of skin color.

The New York Daily News cited sources close to Winfrey as saying the talk show host was first rebuffed by a clerk and then a store manager. The Daily News reported Winfrey had gone to the store to buy a watch for singer Tina Turner, her dining partner that night.

McIntyre confirmed that account for CNN.

The New York Post, in its Monday Page Six gossip column, reported she was turned away because the store had been “having a problem with North Africans lately.”

In comments to CNN, an Hermes spokeswoman categorically denied that allegation.

“There was never any discussion of North Africans,” she said. “The story is not true.”

The spokeswoman said Winfrey came to the store 15 minutes after closing and a security guard informed her the store was closed and gave her a card, telling her she could come back the next day.

Surveillance videotape of the encounter supports the store’s account, according to the spokeswoman.  (read more)

Gun used by 14-year-old in Bronx police shootout traces back to Kentucky gun show; first owner used it to pay rent

This is from The New York Daily News.

He would not obey the officers order to lay down his gun.

Because he was Hell Bent on killing someone.

His aunt is sporting gang tattoos and beyond a doubt got her nephew

At approximately three o?clock this morning at East 151 Street and Courtlandt Avenue in the Bronx, two uniformed NYPD Impact officers heard shots fired in the immediate vicinity and proceeded east on the north side of East 151 Street, where a male was running west bound in the middle of the street, pursued by another male armed with 9mm handgun. The male with the gun, who was also headed westbound on the south sidewalk of East 151 Street , fired at the fleeing male. Ordered to ?drop the gun? by the uniformed officers who identified themselves as police, the male with the gun still in his hand, did not comply. One of the officers discharged one round from his service weapon, striking the armed male in the lower left jaw. The male was pronounced DOA at the scene. A black semi-automatic firearm (Astra A100- 9mm) was recovered at the scene. The officers, ages 26 and 27, were each appointed to the department on 01/09/13. They were removed to Jacobi Hospital to be treated for tinnitus and trauma. There were no other injuries reported at this time. The investigation is ongoing. The deceased has been identified as: Douse, Shaaliver M/B/14 1420 Washington Avenue Bronx, NY Family notified. A photo of the recovered firearm is attached and available at DCPI.

The 9-mm. handgun found near the body of Shaaliver Douse was originally purchased in 1997. The gun’s first owner, Brian Quigley, 35, said the gun was ‘a piece of s—‘ and was stunned to discover it was involved in a deadly gunfight.

Baby-faced Shaaliver Douse wasn’t old enough to drive a car or buy a beer.

That didn’t stop the 14-year-old from easily acquiring two illegal out-of-state handguns in the months before police gunned him down in a Bronx street shootout.

A Daily News investigation found the blood-spattered 9-mm. handgun discovered near the teen’s body was older than he was — purchased at the state fairgrounds in Louisville, Ky., back in 1997.

And Douse was busted Oct. 10, 2012, after cops watched him ditch a loaded .32-caliber H&R revolver that originally came from Ohio.

The reputed Bronx gangbanger provided an armed and dangerous illustration of Mayor Bloomberg’s complaints regarding guns imported into the city.

The mayor recently noted that 90% of the guns confiscated in the city come from out of state. Ohio, the source of 100 weapons in 2011, ranked No. 7 on the list of states where the seized guns originate.

“This means that despite all we do to keep our city safe, we are increasingly at the mercy of weak national gun laws and weak gun laws in other states,” said Bloomberg’s chief policy adviser John Feinblatt.

The top-ranked state on the lethal list is Virginia (322 firearms), followed by North Carolina (255) and South Carolina (251).

Douse’s 9-mm. was originally purchased during the Clinton administration at a Kentucky gun show.

Its first owner recalled giving the legally purchased black Astra handgun to his roomie as partial payment for his portion of the rent shortly after buying the Spanish-made weapon.

“That gun was a piece of s—,” said Brian Quigley, 35, who was stunned to discover his old weapon was involved in a deadly gunfight.

“That’s crazy,” Quigley told The News at his Evansville, Ind., home. “I can’t believe that gun made it all the way out there.”

Douse was firing the 9-mm. at a fleeing man around 3 a.m. last Monday when two cops approached him on E. 151st St. in the Melrose section.

Quigley couldn’t remember how much he paid for the gun, which was purchased from a licensed dealer.

Quwana Barcene, Douse’s aunt, contends that the 14-year-old did not have a gun.

But he recalled the last time that the handgun was in his hands — followed by its transfer into the hands of his pal.

“We lived together, and I sort of gave it to him for rent,” said Quigley. “I could’ve sworn he took care of the paperwork. But he could’ve gave it to someone else.”

The original gun dealer did not return Daily News calls for comment, and attempts to track down the long-ago roommate struck out.

Quigley said he lost track of both the gun and his old friend. The ex-roommate ran with a rough crowd, and had a sister with gang ties in Florida and New York, he recalled.

But the weapon was never reported stolen, and officials were unsure how the gun made its way from the land of the Kentucky Derby to the home of the Belmont Stakes.

It’s possible that Douse actually owned a third weapon. No gun was ever found after his arrest for the May shooting of a 15-year-old boy.

Charges of attempted murder, assault and weapons possession were dropped by Bronx prosecutors after the wounded victim couldn’t identify the shooter.

Will the Trayvon Martin Trial become another O.J. Simpson Trial?

This is from Godfather Politics.

I think the prosecutor in s wanting to turn it into the

New O.J.Simpson Trial.

The prosecutor their case will fall apart if the past actions

of Trayvon The Thug martin comes to light.

When jurors  seen what a thug Trayvon Martin is they will know

George Zimmerman’s self defense plea is proper.

The O.J. Simpson case was about payback. Could the same result happen in the Travon Martin/George Zimmerman case? Consider this story from the Washington Times:

“A member of a pro-Travyon Martin group was caught by a circuit judge trying to sneak his way onto the George Zimmerman jury in Florida, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.

“The potential juror — identified on his Facebook page as Jerry Counelis and referred to as panelist E-7 — gave long, rambling answers about his impartiality when interviewed by attorneys, the Daily News reported.

Circuit Judge Debra Nelson asked the unemployed artist if he posted something on March 21 to the Coffee Party Progressives Facebook page, that describes itself as a group “dedicated to seeking justice for Trayvon Martin.”

“In Sanford … & I CAN tell you THIS. ‘Justice’ IS Coming!” Counelis wrote, according to the report, adding that “with the noise WE made … it couldn’t be covered up.”

As the initial stages of the George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin case proceeds, the media are again resurrecting the issue of racism. And not too far behind are the modern day self-proclaimed civil rights leaders.

After listening to their divisive rhetoric (only to help along the administration’s tactic of divide and conquer), I couldn’t help but notice how far off the modern day civil rights leaders are from the creed of the civil rights movement in the 1960s led by Martin Luther King Jr. He was a molder of consensus to guarantee equal rights under the law for all men, “endowed by their Creator,” as the Declaration of Independence rightly states.

Let me take you back to the 1960s. Every participant in the civil rights marches was required to sign the following pledge before they could participate:

1. Meditate on teachings of Jesus daily.

2. Remember that the non-violent movement seeks justice and reconciliation, not just victory.

3. Walk & talk in the manner of love/charity, for God is love.

4. Pray daily to be used by God.

5. Sacrifice personal needs. Greed has to go out the window.

6. Observe with both friend & foe the ordinary rules of courtesy.

7. Seek to perform regular service for others and for the world.

8. Refrain from the violence of fist, tongue or heart.

9. Strive to be in good spiritual and bodily health.

10. Follow the directions of the movement and of the captain of the demonstration.

The self-made civil rights leaders of today, such as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, have left out their Bibles and their morals as they debase themselves and reap nothing but mockery and reproach. Let me contrast the original pledge with the modern version of the pledge, as demonstrated by their actions:

1. Meditate on the media and anything but the teachings of Jesus.

2. Civil disobedience to just laws, through force, in hopes of an unjust victory.

3. Walk and talk in the manner of thuggery, propaganda, and racial division!

4. Play the race card at every opportunity. And if at first it doesn’t work – keep playing it.

5. Sacrifice the needs of others to insure a victory.

6. Send threats to those who disagree with you.

7. Seek to have it your way at all costs. Lie if necessary.

8. Use fear and force and the threat of retribution.

9. Strive to take from others because you want payback!

10. The goal isn’t any one case but the larger goal of political control.

Today’s modern civil rights leaders are demoralizers of the faith. They have turned civil rights into uncivil distribution of privileges, derived by the State. They have left off the Declaration of Independence, therefore throwing off freedom. Under their directives, racism is being taught to a new generation under the guise of decrying racism.

Martin Luther King Jr. condemned the “black power” movement because he knew “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” His point was that men were not to be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. The civil rights movement was about truth and justice, not lies and injustice.

This is from Jews For The Preservation Of Firearms Ownership.

Adam Lanza was failed by the very same social policies that claimed

to be the only way to protect childern.

This by no means excuses the evil perpetrated by Adam.

Adam’s mother should have been able to have him committed.

How ever the system that claimed to be able to protect him

made it impossible to get committed.

Adam Lanza, who slaughtered and maimed children and staff of his former elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, provided this year’s convenient justification for new legislation controlling firearms in the U.S. This week, President Obama brings Newtown victims’ families to Washington for synchronized bloody shirt-waving on Capitol Hill in support of new restrictions on guns and gun owners. “Moderate” and even conservative senators still embrace the effort to “do something,” even though many premises of the proposed legislation are false.

Myths about uncontrolled gun show and internet gun sales abound, with media reports erroneously claiming, for example, that “[f]ederal background checks are currently required only for transactions handled by the roughly 55,000 federally licensed firearms dealers; private sales such as gun-show or online purchases are exempt.” (Tell that to and other such sites.) Connecticut, New York, Maryland, and Colorado legislators have already pushed through draconian new restrictions, some at such variance with real-world conditions that they have had to be revised already. Other states threaten to follow suit as ambitious progressive politicians promise that security is but a few hundred pages of restrictive legislation away.

Now we learn, ironically, that Adam Lanza himself was failed by years of social policy and legislation supposedly adopted to protect children like him — policy and legislation aimed at what we are told is another contemporary scourge, deliverance from which is almost as dear to the hearts of progressive remakers of humanity as gun control: school bullying. Glancing at his photo, anyone will recognize in Adam Lanza the wispy, jumpy little weird kid whom serious bullies and just casual wiseguys love to torment. Dealing with kids like him for all of us as children was a moral test that some of us passed and some of us failed. According to a family friend, Lanza was “tortured” by relentless bullying at Newtown Elementary. He believes that “Adam felt betrayed by the school and this was his act of revenge.”

Nancy Lanza

The family friend, who was also Lanza’s Cub Scout leader, claims that the mother who also fell before Lanza’ s murderous rage believed that the school failed to protect her son:

Nancy Lanza was so incensed by the school’s failure to protect her son that she sometimes showed up unannounced to watch over him[.] … She was so upset that the teachers weren’t protecting him from the bullies that she went with him like a bodyguard[.]

Lanza was fond of military-themed video games and aspired to don the uniform of a U.S. Marine, following the example of a beloved uncle — an ambition barred to him by his by then-significant mental and behavioral problems. Mrs. Lanza apparently did allow her son access to firearms, perhaps in an effort to provide the troubled loner with some form of individual activity in which he could excel and thus build some sense of self-worth. In a boy less disturbed, her efforts might have done some good, and the Marines have helped more than a few troubled young men to turn their lives around. But Adam Lanza was already too far gone. His ambition to be a Marine thwarted, “the family friend … believes Adam snapped after being told he would never get a chance to put on a uniform.”

Media reports, including the New York Daily News piece cited, have made much of Lanza’s mother’s allowing him access to firearms, and of the few bricks of ammo, the two rifles, and a couple of edged weapons in the Lanza house: “His gun-loving mother quietly amassed a near-apocalyptic arsenal of lethal weapons — and frequently took her son to local gun ranges.” But the instruments of Lanza’s rage were not its source.

By the time Adam Lanza was ten years old, Connecticut schools were required by law to have an anti-bullying policy in place. This requirement was strengthened in 2008 and again in 2011. None of these laws helped protect Adam Lanza, nor did they keep him from growing up into an angry young man known to us only for a final horrific act at the scene of his own torment. Teacher trainers, consultants, anti-bullying policy coordinators, and such benefited from the legislation, but Lanza did not.

Of course, the evils Adam Lanza perpetrated transcend any harm ever done him in Newtown Elementary or anywhere else, and his mother certainly seems to have committed a terrible error in allowing such a mentally unstable young man access to firearms — an error that added her own death to those of Newtown’s innocents. In cynical exploitation of these awful events, politicians offer new laws, without even a pause for a thought about the false promises of other laws they have embraced with equal breathless fervor, and without a hint of accountability for those who failed that tormented little boy at a Connecticut elementary school.

SI teacher puts himself on camera languishing in the rubber room

This is from The New York Daily News.

This is one of the best arguments to do away with public sector unions.

Liberal Icon Franklin Delano Roosevelt said it best.

… Meticulous attention should be paid to the special relationships and obligations of public servants to the public itself and to the government. All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations … The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for … officials … to bind the employer … The employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives …

“Particularly, I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place in the functions of any organization of government employees. Upon employees in the federal service rests the obligation to serve the whole people … This obligation is paramount … A strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent … to prevent or obstruct … Government … Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government … is unthinkable and intolerable.”

Teacher Francesco Portelos in the rubber room.

Teacher Francesco Portelos in the rubber room.

He’s paid $75,000 a year to do nothing, he says

This Staten Island teacher wants the world to know he is paid $75,000 a year to do nothing all day long.

More than two years after the city shut down the so-called rubber rooms that served as detention centers for teachers, Francesco Portelos sat in front of a live cam Thursday, killing time.

“I want people to see where their tax dollars are going,” said Portelos, 34, who taught technology at Intermediate School 49 until last spring, when he got yanked from the classroom, he said.

“I’m getting paid $75,000 to sit around.”

The live cam showed him surfing the Internet. On the conference room table in the foreground, he’d carefully laid out a small yellow “Don’t Tread on Me” flag on top of a copy of the teachers union paper.

Portelos, who is the elected chapter leader of his school, alleges he landed in his own private rubber room after he ran afoul of administrators.

He says he caught his principal “engaging in financial misconduct.”

IS 49 Principal Linda Hill did not respond to messages requesting comment.

Teachers are now assigned to administrative duties instead of being sent to “rubber rooms” — but they have repeatedly claimed they don’t actually do anything on those assignments.

Portelos’ live cam seems to prove their point.

“They came after the wrong guy, and I’m not taking it lying down,” he said. “My methods are not conventional.”

But schools officials insisted times have changed.

“All teachers who have been reassigned are working under supervision in an administrative capacity,” said spokeswoman Connie Pankratz.

“Francesco Portelos has been extremely difficult to work with, was transferred twice, and there are multiple investigations pending against him.”

Schools officials said they did not know if the special schools investigator was also looking at Hill.

Portelos plans to continue his live stream Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., unless he gets blocked by administrators.

“I’m very tech-savvy, and for the short five years of my career used that knowledge to educate and improve the school,” Portelos emailed the Daily News.

“Now I have to use my tech savviness to survive.”

Visit to see him at “work.”
