Egypt’s first freely elected leader sentenced to death

This is from Business Insider.

In case the Business Insider staff is not aware Adolph Hilter was freely elected also and we know how that went.

An Egyptian court sentenced ousted President Mohammed Morsi and more than 100 others to death Saturday over a mass prison break during the 2011 uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak and later brought Islamists to power for the first time in Egypt.

As is customary in passing capital punishment, Judge Shaaban el-Shami referred his death sentence on Morsi and others to the nation’s top Muslim theologian, or mufti, for his nonbinding opinion. El-Shami set June 2 for the next hearing.

Morsi, Egypt’s first freely elected leader, was ousted by the military in July 2013 following days of mass street protests by Egyptians demanding that he be removed because of his divisive policies. Morsi’s successor, Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, was the military chief at the time and led the ouster. El-Sissi ran for president last year and won the vote in a landslide.

Also sentenced to death with Morsi in the prison break case were 105 defendants, most of them were tried and convicted in absentia. They include some 70 Palestinians. Those tried in absentia in Egypt receive automatic retrials once detained.

Supporters of Morsi and his now outlawed Muslim Brotherhood chanted “down, down with military rule” as el-Shami announced the verdict in the courtroom, a converted lecture hall in the national police academy in an eastern Cairo suburb.

Prosecutors have alleged in the case that armed members of the Palestinian Hamas group entered Egypt during the 18-day uprising through illegal tunnels running under Gaza’s border with Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. Taking advantage of the uprising’s turmoil, the militants fought their way into several prisons, releasing Morsi, more than 30 other Brotherhood leaders, and some 20,000 inmates, prosecutors say. Several prison guards were killed and parts of the stormed prisons were damaged.

Those sentenced to death with Morsi on Saturday were the Brotherhood’s spiritual leader, Mohammed Badie, as well as one of the Arab world’s best known Islamic scholars, the Qatar-based Youssef al-Qaradawi.

Also sprang out of jail in 2011 were Hezbollah and Hamas operatives who had been convicted and sentenced to jail terms over terror-related charges. Those days of chaos and bloodshed in 2011 also saw dozens of police stations across the country stormed by protesters. Media commentators maintain that the jailbreaks and the attack on police stations were part of a Brotherhood plot to spread fear and chaos to ensure the fall of Mubarak.

The Brotherhood went on to win every election held in Egypt between 2011 and until Morsi’s ouster in July 2013. Its popularity began to dramatically slide after Morsi took office in June 2012 and he decreed himself above any sort of oversight later that year and became increasingly perceived to be working for the Brotherhood and its supporters, not all Egyptians.

Hamas is the Palestinian chapter of the Brotherhood and its leaders enjoyed close relations with Morsi during his one year in office. It has consistently denied meddling in Egypt’s affairs, including participating in the 2011 mass prison break, but relations between the group and the post-Morsi government in Cairo have been fraught with tension. Egypt frequently accuses Hamas of being behind some of the attacks staged by Islamic militants in northern Sinai since Morsi’s ouster.

Amr Darrag, a Cabinet minister under Morsi and a cofounder of the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, condemned Saturday’s verdicts.

“Today will be remembered as one of the darkest days in Egypt history,” Darrag said in a statement. But “there is something far larger at stake — the rights of millions of Egyptians to live freely and without fear, and to choose their leaders through the ballot box.”

Amnesty International also denounced the verdicts, which come after several mass death penalty trials criticized by human rights activists and world powers. It called for a retrial, asserting that all evidence gathered from Morsi and other defendants were inadmissible because of what it called their illegal detention prior to trial.

“The death penalty has become the favorite tool for the Egyptian authorities to purge the political opposition,” Amnesty said.

Morsi already is serving a 20-year sentence following his conviction on April 21 on charges linked to the killing of protesters outside a Cairo presidential palace in December 2012.

The former president escaped a death sentence in a separate case before el-Shami related to allegations that Morsi, several of his aides, and leaders of the Brotherhood allegedly passed state secrets to foreign groups, including Hamas group and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, during his one year in office. A total of 16 senior Brotherhood leaders and aides were sentenced to death by el-Shami in that case. The 16 include one woman, Sondos Assem, a presidential press aide who is now a fugitive.

A verdict on Morsi’s role in that case will be announced in the June 2 hearing.

Even if confirmed by the mufti, Saturday’s death sentences still can be appealed.

Congratulations on your huge electoral victory.

You have approximately two years ahead during which time you should not count on the United States for military support.  Hopefully after the 2016 elections here, there will be a president in the White House that will again treat Israel as an ally and not a burr under his saddle.  (As an aside, congratulations on making Obama piss his pannies.)  You also cannot count on Obama’s administration to have your back in the United Nations.

Until such time as we have an adult in the White House, I would suggest you look around your area and form a coalition with:

  • Saudia Arabia…. they have no large military presence but they can buy and sell most nations of the world.  They fear and hate ISIS and IRAN
  • Egypt….has a true leader with balls who sees ISIS and IRAN as enemies of his country
  • Jordan…. Jordan has a true leader with balls who sees ISIS and IRAN as enemies of his country
Form a mutual defense coalition with these countries who share the same issues and keep Israel safe.

‘Our ancient forefathers … did not deserve to pay for Pharoah’s mistake’

A writer in Egypt is demanding that his nation sue Israel over the 10 biblical plagues.

“We want compensation for the plagues that were inflicted upon [us] as a result of the curses that the Jews’ ancient forefathers [cast] upon our ancient forefathers, who did not deserve to pay for the mistake that Egypt’s ruler at the time, Pharaoh, committed,” said columnist Ahmad al-Gamal, in a column in the Egyptian daily Al-Yawm Al-Sabi.

The column was spotted and cited by officials with the Middle East Media Research Institute, which monitors and comments on media in the Middle East.

The commentator also advocated suing Israel for the “precious materials” used by the Israelites to build their desert tabernacle, Turkey for damages for invading Egypt during the Ottoman empire and France for Napoleon’s invasion.

And he wants Britain to pay for 72 years of occupation.

After the 10 plagues resulted in their freedom from Egyptian slavery, the Israelites soon beheld Moses parting the waters of the Red Sea. Now you can watch the acclaimed “Red Sea Crossing” video documentary, in which robotic submarine cameras reveal Egyptian chariots strewn across the sea floor. Save $15 – just $4.95 today only!

“For what is written in the Torah proves that it was Pharaoh who oppressed the children of Israel, rather than the Egyptian people. [But] they inflicted upon us the plague of locusts that didn’t leave anything behind them; the plague that transformed the Nile’s waters into blood, so nobody could drink of them for a long time; the plague of darkness that kept the world dark day and night; the plague of frogs; and the plague of the killing of the firstborn, namely every first offspring born to woman or beast, and so on,” he wrote.

“We want compensation for the gold, silver, copper, precious stones, fabrics, hides and lumber, and for [all] animal meat, hair, hides and wool, and for other materials that I will mention [below], when quoting the language of the Torah. All these are materials that the Jews used in their rituals. These are resources that cannot be found among desert wanderers unless they took them before their departure…” he continued.

The MEMRI report noted al-Gamal calls for using “all measures of the law” to collect compensation.”

He quotes the Bible’s description of the Exodus.

“The stories of the Holy Scriptures state that the Israelites set off from the [Nile] valley at night and went to the Sinai Peninsula. This is known to be a desert, were there is no use for large quantities of gold, silver, precious stones, meats, oils, fabrics and the like. Therefore it is clear that the Israelites took all these things from Egypt before they left. Chapter 25 of Exodus, on the [Israelites’] departure [from Egypt], states: ‘The Lord said to Moses: Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering… These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze; blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; ram skins dyed red and another type of durable leather; acacia wood; olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece.”

He also notes the construction of the portable tabernacle assembled by the Israelites used acacia wood and gold, as well as linens.

He even cites the mental injury from Egypt’s long history.

“We want compensation from the Turks for damaging the Egyptian psyche through their racism and haughtiness, their contempt for Egypt and the Egyptians, and their disgraceful treatment of the peasant as someone who [merely] plows, sows and reaps – although the harvest from the sweat of his brow filled the stomachs of the indolent Ottomans,” he said.

The plagues included turning the Nile’s water into blood, frogs, lice, flies, diseased livestock, boils, thunder and hail, locusts, darkness, and the deaths of the firstborn.

Dear friends

As a human being and a physician, I categorically and unconditionally deplore all killing. As a father, my heart goes out to all those who lost sons and daughters in Egypt’s violence today and since the uprising of June 30.

Nevertheless, in the middle of a frenzy of Western politicians and Western media consistently presenting only one side — the Islamists’ — I could not let this day pass without sharing some thoughts and some truths. For the last six weeks since the overthrow of Mohammed Morsi, the Western media consistently portrayed the sit-ins that paralyzed Cairo and other parts of Egypt as sit-ins by “peaceful demonstrators”. As mayhem broke out throughout Egypt today, they conveniently ignored what was happening in the rest of the country to focus on those “peaceful demonstrators.”

Peaceful demonstrators??

Peaceful demonstrators do not have the capacity to kill more than 47 police personnel documented by name, rank, and serial number in a few hours.

Peaceful demonstrators do not attack the Kerdasa (neighborhood close to the pyramids) police station with rocket-propelled grenades, kill the station’s police officers, strip them of their clothes, and drag their bodies down the street.

Peaceful demonstrators do not threaten Christians with genocide as was called for by many of their leaders over the last six weeks, and as documented by multiple videos available on YouTube and other outlets.

Peaceful demonstrators do not raise the black flags of Al Qaeda over their sit-ins and marches and take pride in the likes of Bin Laden and Zawahiri.

Peaceful demonstrators do not attack more than 45 Christian installations, burn 19 churches and cathedrals, some several hundred years old, to the ground in less than 12 hours, destroy millions of dollars worth of Christians’ homes, businesses, and property, and threaten the entire Egyptian Christian population with annihilation.

Peaceful demonstrators do no call for the return of a fascist president who only days before presided over a 2-hour orgy of hate speech by his imams, calling Shia Muslims filth worthy of extermination, only to see that actually take place 2 days later in the public lynching of 5 Egyptian Shia Muslims in broad daylight.

Peaceful demonstrators do not defend a fascist who purposefully let thousands of terrorists back into Egypt from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq to establish an Islamic Emirate in the Sinai and kill Egyptian army personnel and civilians on a daily basis.

Peaceful demonstrators do not put their children in the face of danger and brag that they are ready to see them die for the Islamist cause.

How much of that has the Western media reported today??

The Muslim Brotherhood and their jihadist allies have never known and will never know peace. Those who live by the sword will die by the sword. Prior to Morsi’s election, they publicly declared that they will burn Egypt down if their man does not win. These terrorists, who have been proven liars at every step in the political process, are finally making good on one promise — destroying the country if they can’t subjugate it.

This Muslim Brotherhood is an international terrorist organization. Their masquerade of moderateness has fallen apart with the events in Egypt. You should all be aware that this terrorist organization exists not only in Egypt or the Middle East or the Islamic world, but also right here in Canada and the US. It exists legally, and has managed to gain the sympathy and alliance of the United States Government, as well as many other Western governments, as we have seen in all the statements over the last six weeks.

I implore you to educate yourself about this, and to consider contacting your congressman, senator, or member of parliament. Confront them with the facts, and ask them to declare the Muslim Brotherhood and all other Islamist political movements what they are — FASCISTS an

Who's a Fascist? A Checklist

Liberals like to toss around words they’ve heard in movies or on Bill Maher’s show without having a clue to their meaning. Take the word “fascist,” a favorite of frustrated liberals when they’ve hit an intellectual dead-end in an argument against a conservative — so usually about three seconds into it.

A fascist, of course, is a supporter of fascism, a word which has its root in the Latin “fasces,” a symbol of Roman imperial authority that consisted of a bundle of wooden rods with an ax head protruding.

Historically, fascist governments include the Axis nations in World War II, along with countries like Greece, Spain, Brazil and Croatia around the same period. In 1933, according to testimony from Gen. Smedley Butler, there was a plot by fascist sympathizers in American big business circles to carry out a coup against President Franklin Roosevelt.

What is fascism, though? Skip right past the online definitions that equate fascism with American conservatism and look at a reliable source like Merriam-Webster, which states that fascism is “a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.”

Let’s break that down and see who’s really a fascist: Exalts nation and often race above the individual — Remember “you didn’t build that”? How about “spread the wealth around”? Or, “if I had a son, he would look like Trayvon” followed by dead silence when it was a white child being beaten on a school bus by three black children?

The Administration is famous for its favoritism toward blacks and Muslims. And it definitely has a low regard for individual freedoms. Stands for a centralized autocratic government — Obamacare, expansion of the IRS, militarization of the Department of Homeland Security, drones in American air space, NSA spying, warrantless searches, suing states that want the border closed … need we go on?

Headed by a dictatorial leader — failed congressional bills being essentially passed by executive order or by agencies  creating unscrutinized “rules” changes. A dictator operates outside the laws of the country. President Obama bypasses constitutional procedure and the separation of powers on a regular basis.

Severe economic and social regimentation — bailouts for the select supporters of the Administration, regulation by rules and lawsuits for others. Don’t forget the tremendous cost increases being imposed by Obamacare and by the Administration’s “green” fetish. Government meddling exists at all levels of life, all the way down to your child’s school lessons and lunches.

This Administration is forcing gay marriage, abortion and other liberal social experiments down America’s throat while dividing the country by race and widening the gap between rich and poor. Forcible suppression of opposition — It’s wiretaps, IRS investigations and threats all around, not to mention stories about individuals being held against their will in jail or in mental hospitals.

This Administration lives every day hoping for a good excuse to shut down Fox News, pull the plug on Rush Limbaugh and toss Tea Partiers in a  cell somewhere. And if that doesn’t persuade you, just look at who our Administration is supporting in Egypt — the Muslim Brotherhood. The Brotherhood was founded in 1928 by Hassan al-Banna and quickly became allied with the Nazis, whom al-Banna admired.

During World War II, the Brotherhood engaged in espionage, sabotage and terrorism on behalf of the Nazi regime. Brotherhood recruits’ training included having to read Mein Kampf and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. During the current clashes, the Brotherhood is targeting Christian churches and businesses.

This week, Brotherhood supporters paraded nuns through a mob as “prisoners of war,” attempted to gang rape two Christian girls after burning their church, marked Christian businesses with black crosses for burning, and  blamed Christians for deaths across Egypt of Brotherhood members. Our country is on the brink. One push could send it tumbling into the same nightmare Germany experienced in World War II.

Nashville Coptic Christians protest against Muslim Brotherhood: “Obama, Obama, don’t you care? Christian blood is everywhere”

This is from Jihad Watch.

Obama does not care about Christian blood being shed.

Obama does not care about Jews around the world that are being killed.

Obama is only concerned about his muslim brothers .

How odd that Bob Smietana, a “journalist” who is usually reliably biased in favor of Islamic supremacists, didn’t call the rallygoers “racist, bigoted Islamophobes.”

“200 Coptic Christians rally in Nashville, call for peace in Egypt,” by Bob Smietana for The Tennessean, August 19:

More than 200 Coptic Christians demonstrated in downtown Nashville, calling for an end to the violence in Egypt. Many chanted “Obama, Obama, don’t you care? Christian blood is everywhere,” and “Pray for Egypt” while waiving Egyptian flags.

Others, like Anour Fares, held homemade signs with messages like “We are against Muslim Brotherhood.”

Amany Shahata, who has lived in the United States for 16 years, said she feared for Christians living in Egypt, whose churches had been burned down in recent days. She and other protesters blamed the Muslim Brotherhood.

“What is terrorism, but being afraid to go out of your house because someone will attack you,” she said. “… We can build churches anywhere but in our own country.”

At one point demonstrators lined both sides of First Avenue and called out slogans as cars went by. They shouted “eid wahda,” an Egyptian phrase that translates as “one hand,” meaning that the Egyptian people, both Christians and Muslims, were united with the army against terrorism, which they blamed on the Muslim Brotherhood.

Abram Thabet said that he hopes the Obama administration will stand by the Egyptian government. He said that he fled Cairo two years ago with his family because he feared persecution.

“The Christians in Egypt are paying a very high price,” he said. “I couldn’t keep my children safe.”…

Muslim Brotherhood Leader Claims To Have Evidence To Put Obama In Prison

This is from Freedom Outpost.

I say to this Muslim Brotherhood leader “Put up or shut up”.

This will be the only way we will believe you.

We need to stop the Obama Regime.

Does the son of jailed Muslim Brotherhood leader Khairat Al-Shater have evidence that could put Barack Obama in prison? One must only look at the reaction of the Obama Administration during this transition to suspect that this could be true.

No longer is the situation in Egypt about the will of the people. It more so seems about rescuing the Muslim Brotherhood at any cost. Fresh off the visit of McCain and Graham, WND’s Jerome Corsi broke a huge story on Tuesday evening: The son of a jailed Muslim Brotherhood leader in Egypt is claiming his father has evidence that will land President Obama in prison.

The claim came as the Obama administration, with the assistance of Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and the open involvement of the No. 2 man at the U.S. State Department, made a concerted effort to see Muslim Brotherhood leaders in Egypt released. In an interview with the News Agency Anatolia in Turkey, Saad Al-Shater, the son of imprisoned Muslim Brotherhood leader Khairat Al-Shater, said his father “had in his hand” evidence that will put Obama in prison.

In a thinly veiled threat, Saad Al-Shater said a U.S. delegation was sent to Cairo by Obama to press for the release of the imprisoned Muslim Brotherhood leaders, including his father to prevent the release of explosive information. Arabic-speaking former PLO member Walid Shoebat has translated the report by the Turkish News Agency Anatolia as follows: In an interview with the Anatolia News Agency, Saad Al-Shater, the son of a Muslim Brotherhood leader, the detained Khairat Al-Shater, said that his father had in his hand evidence that will land the head of United States of America, President Obama, in prison.

He stressed that the senior U.S. delegation currently visiting Egypt, knows full well that the fate, future, interests and resputation of their country is in the hands of his father, and they know that he owns the information, documents and recordings that incriminate and would condemn their country.

Such documents, he says, were placed in the hands of people who were entrusted inside and outside Egypt, and that the release of his father is the only way for them to prevent a great catastrophe. He stated that a warning was sent threatening to show how the U.S. administration was directly connected.

The evidence was sent through intermediaries which caused them to change their attitude and corrected their position, and that they have taken serious steps to prove good faith. Saad also said that his father’s safety is more important to the Americans than is the safety of Mohamed Morsi.

Writing in his blog, Shoebat noted that six different Arabic sources confirmed the interview with Saad Al-Shater and the report of Al-Shater’s claims. Shoebat said the interview with Saad Al-Shater was Aug. 7, making it likely the reference to the “senior U.S. delegation currently visiting Egypt” was about the trip by McCain, Graham and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns.

Time will tell if the threat is credible. Anything at this point is certainly conjecture but let’s revisit some of the things we know and have been reporting. The story line we have been building has been that the death of four Americans in Benghazi had nothing to do with gun running.

That is why Ambassador Chris Stevens was sent there but not why he was killed. The evidence suggests that Stevens was part of a botched abduction and prisoner exchange for The Blind Sheik. If that is true and the deal was made between Morsi and Obama, then it would certainly tend to fit with this man’s claims.

Morsi certainly would be less likely to roll over on Obama and incriminate himself, but another Muslim Brotherhood official may not have as much to lose as Morsi. We have a good amount of evidence that the prisoner exchange was a probable scenario. If you would like to review it, you can click here.

Islamic Flag to Fly Over White House

I think I speak for my Fellow Patriots when I say

we will not set ideally by and let this happen.

I will fit until my last round and last breath to

prevent Moose Slime Rule.

Not long after Barack Hussein Obama first took office in 2009, I’ve been saying that he is a Muslim and not a Christian as he claims.  He has done everything to assist Muslims and hinder Christians.  He has hosted Muslim leaders who have vowed to destroy America.  He gives billions of dollars and weapons to Islamic extremists, yet he refuses to help a Christian family that only wants to homeschool their children.

I am convinced that Obama has been actively paving the way to change America from a Christian nation to Muslim nation, and I’m not the only one.  Egyptian Cleric Abu Islam also believes it will happen and it will happen soon.  On March 18, 2013, Abu Islam was interviewed on Al-Kahera Wal-Nas TV in Egypt.  Here is what he said:

Islam: “We have four large Islamic groups: The Muslim Brotherhood, the Salafis, the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, and Al-Gama’s Al-Islamiyya.  These are four significant powers.  Is there anyone more qualified to lead the country than the Muslim Brotherhood?  Then let the Muslim Brotherhood assume this responsibility.”

”Who should be in charge of religious affairs in Egypt?  The Salafis.  Is any group more qualified that the Salafis to regulate ideology?  I choose the Salafis to run Al-Azhar and the Ministry of Religious Endowments.”

“We are left with the army and the police.  Which is the best to run the police?  The Muslim Brotherhood?  No.  The Salafis?  No.  Al-Gama’a Al-Islamiyya is the best for the job.”

“This leaves the army for the Egyptian Islamic Jihad.”

“This is how disagreements can turn into pluralism, and I pray to Allah that this will be accepted by all, and the various powers of the Islamic nation will come together.”

Interviewer: “What about all the other people?”

Islam: “What people?”

Interviewer: “All those who do not belong to these four groups.”

Islam:  “Tell me exactly who you mean.  The Communists?  For example…They have ruled for a long time.  They have had enough.  The liberals?  They have ruled for a long time and have had enough too.  Let’s give Islam a chance for once.  Trust me, very soon we will see the flag of ‘There is no god but Allah’ flying over the White House.  They are already holding Muslims prayers in the White House.”

I figure he knows what’s he’s talking about since Obama has hosted a number of Egyptian diplomats and other Muslim leaders at the White House.  He has met with Egyptian leader Mohammad Morsi and promised him all the help and assistance he wants.  Obama has said and done nothing about the Christian genocide occurring in Egypt by the government and Muslim citizens.

Since Obama became president the Muslim communities in Dearborn and Murfreesboro have multiplied enough to take control of the areas.  Other Muslim concentrations are growing and are having an impact in cities and local governments.  We’ve even seen judges rule by sharia law over American law and Obama did nothing in any of those cases.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Obama’s goal is to convert the US to Islam and turn it into an Islamic run country.  I know it!  The Egyptians know it!  And sadly, many American’s refuse to believe it.

Oops, we did it again: US sends four more F-16s to Egypt

This is from BizPac Review.

I think Obama is hoping the Muslim Brotherhood will.

will attack Israel.

America should not be giving anything to countries that

hate us let them do it for free.

Another four U.S. F-16 fighter jetswere on their way to Egypt Thursday as part of a large foreign aid packageinked back in 2010. While the situation in Egypt was much different when the initial deal was made, critics say now that the Muslim Brotherhood is in charge, the U.S. shouldn’t follow through with the terms, according to Fox News.

Mohammad Morsi hasn’t been as vocal since his election last summer, but in 2010 Morsi attacked Obama for supporting Israel.

“One American president after another — and most recently, that Obama — talks about American guarantees for the safety of the Zionists in Palestine,” Morsi, then a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, said on Egyptian TV reacting to Obama’s 2009 Cairo speech. “[Obama] was very clear when he uttered his empty words on the land of Egypt. He uttered many lies.”

Critics in Congress say the U.S. shouldn’t follow through with the package, and that it betrays the friendship America shares with Israel.

Now that Morsi is the Egyptian leader, some security experts say that aid will just prop up a bad regime. Malou Innocent, a foreign policy analyst at the Cato Instituteagrees.

U.S. aid packages limit, rather than leverage, Washington’s ability to extract meaningful concessions from Cairo on democratic reform. Sending arms conveys a tacit indifference to Morsi’s authoritarian tendencies, including its harassment and intimidation of regime critics.

American taxpayers have been Egypt’s major arms supplier, subsidizing the supply of F-16 jet fighters, M1A1 Abrams battle tanks, armored personnel carriers, Apache helicopters, and hundreds of millions of dollars in surplus military equipment.

“Friends don’t send U.S. taxpayer-funded F-16s and tanks to the enemies of their friends,” Rep. Gohmert, R-Texas, told

A statement issued from the State Department warned that not following through with promised aid could have “disastrous consequences”, “undermine our efforts to address regional security”, and “send a damaging signal to Egypt’s civilian and military leadership”.

Anthony Cordesman, who has served as a consultant for the State and Defense departments, told that the planes are less important than the message they send.

“Canceling a few F-16s isn’t going to be a game changer in itself, but it’d change perceptions in the Arab world. They would see how quickly the U.S. could turn away when there’s a crisis,” Cordesman said.
