Everytown Trainwrecks on GunsTV Spoof

This is from Bearing Arms.

I made it through about forty seconds of this video before I started throwing up.

Amy Schumer is as brained dead as  Chuckles Schumer.

Chuck Schumer’s niece Amy, who is famous for some reason, loves to ride her cousin’s tailcoats toward gun control in Everytown. In her latest ignorant and humorless little skit, she attempts to spread more zombie gun control lies – this time, by spoofing the new network GunsTV.

“This was a sketch that Amy personally felt really strongly about,” Dan Powell, executive producer for Inside Amy Schumer told Entertainment Weekly. “The whole writers room piped in with jokes and ideas and things like that but ultimately, this was Amy’s baby.”

EW shared an exclusive preview of the sketch, which spoofs GunTV with Schumer as a c0-host. In it, they sell weapons to sketchy callers “thanks to laws that allow special privileges for gun shows”. If you can’t possibly see how Schumer could be this ignorant, this could explain it – she worked with Everytown for Gun Safety on developing this skit.

“She really stood up and became a leader in the gun violence prevention space,” Brina Milikowsky, chief strategy officer for Everytown, tells EW of Schumer. “This is a really important fight to improve public safety and help save lives in America. We do need to use every tool that’s at our disposal. The ability to use comedy to reach new audiences is incredibly powerful.” Milikowsky is featured in the episode as well, as Schumer turns the tables and sits down to interview her about issues of gun violence.

GunTV’s parent company, The Social Responsibility Network, posted a video online saying the channel will address the nationwide need for “education, information and safety regarding firearms commerce.”

“We saw an opportunity in filling a need, not creating one,” Valerie Castle, a co-founder of the channel said. “The vast majority of people who own and use guns in this country, whether it’s home protection, recreation or hunting, are responsible.”

A video on the website boasts they aim to “responsibly offer extraordinary access to purchase the most diverse representation of firearms in the world”.

Schumer, however, couldn’t have bothered to look into the facts of her fears, listening instead to the zombie gun lies of Everytown and continues to spread them to the ignorant, uneducated masses.

Comedy? Tragic.

Gabby Giffords: Universal Background Checks Not Enough; Oregon Needs More Gun Control

This is from  Breitbarts Big Government.

These gun control freaks are trying to kill the Second Amendment by the death of a thousand cuts.

Gun control proponent Gabby Giffords met with Oregon “law enforcement leaders” at the YWCA in Portland on Friday to contend that the universal background checks instituted last year and the closure of the “gun show loophole” in 2000 are not enough; more gun control for Oregon is needed now.

According to KGW, Giffords looked beyond background checks to gun storage requirements and expanded bans on gun ownership for people with certain mental health problems. Giffords said, “Stopping gun violence takes courage. The courage to do what’s right. The courage of new ideas. We must never stop fighting.”

It is important to notice Oregon’s slow but steady slide toward California-style gun control. In 2000, the state instituted a law requiring background checks for every gun sold at a gun show, thereby closing the so-called “gun show loophole.” But in April 2015, Everytown for Gun Safety argued that the gun show requirement had not gone far enough; they contended that it should be applied to every gun sold in the state–whether the gun is sold privately or via retail. Giffords and her husband joined Everytown in pushing for universal background checks, and they were signed into law on May 11, 2015.

Now, less than a year later, Giffords is back in Oregon suggesting universal background checks are not enough. She believes new bans on gun possession and mandates for gun storage must be added.

The quote below describes liberals and their push for gun control.

Gun Control will never work.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.Albert Einstein, (attributed) US (German-born) physicist (1879 – 1955

New York City has Michael Bloomberg’s favorite gun control measure in place and is facing a crime epidemic that includes a “nearly” 20 percent increase in homicides.

When NYPD Officer Brian Moore was shot on May 2 with a stolen gun, Breitbart News reported that the strict gun controls in New York were no hindrance to criminals. Those controls–enacted in the January 2013 SAFE Act–include an “assault weapons” ban, a gun registration scheme, a “high capacity” magazine ban, and expanded background checks, among other things.

Although implemented by Governor Andrew Cuomo (D), parts of these controls read like Bloomberg-funded Everytown for Gun Safety Christmas wish list. Especially the expanded background checks, which Bloomberg-funded Moms Demand Action campaigned successfully to push in Washington State and which Everytown campaigned successfully to push in Oregon.

As for Bloomberg himself, On The Issues reported that he spent a portion of his second term as mayor suing gun dealers as a means to combat the actions of criminals in NYC:

Building on his first term, Bloomberg broadened his scope and once again thought big and bold. He sued out-of-state gun dealers, accusing them of illegally selling handguns that were later used to commit crimes in NYC. He did battle against weak federal gun laws, created a national coalition of mayors to fight illegal weapons -useful to raise awareness, although really effective gun control demands national legislation.

In August 2013, the New York Daily News reported that the desire for more gun control continued to characterize Bloomberg, as he registered his disgust with Senators who refused to pass gun control at the federal level and pledged to use his gun control groups to defeat said senators at the ballot box.

So, what has the non-stop push for gun control correlated with for the citizens of NYC? Currently, a spike in “violent crime”–reported by ABC News 7–and a near 20 percent increase in homicides. Yet Bloomberg’s gun control groups continue to tell politicians around the country that expanding background checks reduces crime.

Bloomberg Creates Everytown “News” Arm

This is from Gun News.

It sounds to me like Nanny Bloomberg wants to become the Joseph Goebbels of the Obama Anti-Gun Media.

Bloomberg, the maniacal former mayor of New York City, has announced the creation of a “news” arm of his anti-gun group, Everytown for Gun Safety. As you may remember, Everytown is the latest incarnation of the Mayor’s Against Illegal Guns group that suffered irreparable damage when the criminal pasts of its members came to light.

The announcement coincides with the “journalism” seminar that Bloomberg is co-hosting with the Columbia School of Journalism in Arizona later this month. The seminar is reportedly to help select journalists to be better educated and more ethical when reporting on guns. I’m having a tough time accepting that this seminar will do either of these things.

What I think is happening is that Bloomberg is holding this event as a recruitment seminar as he and the editors of this “news” arm look for writers to fill their website with anti-gun, anti-Bill of Rights articles.

The man running the propaganda wing of Everytown will be none other than James Burnett, ultra-left-wing, anti-gun former editor from New Republic. He, along with several other employees, resigned from New Republic when the new owner decided to go in a different direction.

Another liberal, this one from the New York Times, will also be joining the crew. Jennifer Mascia will be the news and editorial assistant.

The bottom line is that Bloomberg is gearing up for a big plan of disinformation and bogus statistics, all with the intention of confusing a gullible public into thinking that the country will be safer when only the police have guns.

Bloomberg isn’t the only liberal who wants to control how news and information is disseminated. President Obama has recently called for a change in how the media reports stories. Speaking at Georgetown University, Obama said,

“We’re going to have to change how our body politic thinks, which means we’re going to have to change how the media reports on these issues and how people’s impressions of what it’s like to struggle in this economy looks like, and how budgets connect to that. And that’s a hard process because that requires a much broader conversation than typically we have on the nightly news.”

The truth is that it isn’t any of his business how the media reports the news. This goes for whether it’s CNN or FOX. No one in the government should ever be involved with how the news is written, reported, or shown. That is the purpose of the First Amendment. The politicians govern at our pleasure, and the media reports it how they see it.

The only problem that we really have now in the media is credibility, such as people like Brian Williams lying to the American public about his experiences and then expecting to be believed when he reports the news. George Stephanopoulos is another example of a person with an ulterior motive. He worked for years for Bill and Hillary Clinton and now is working for ABC as a nightly anchor, pretending to be unbiased. Now, his donation of $50,000 to the Clinton Foundation has come to light, showing exactly where his loyalties lie.

I am not a journalist, nor do I claim to be one. I have never claimed to be unbiased. In fact, I’m very biased. What I write are opinion pieces based on current events. That’s the difference between me and liberal writers.

Liberal writers, like those who will be working for Bloomberg, claim to be writing unbiased, neutral pieces that simply lay out the facts. The problem is that they are manipulating the facts in order to deceive the public. They also use the term “unbiased” in an attempt to gain the trust of the public.

I’m not interested in the public’s trust. My challenge to all my readers is simple: Read my articles and then do the research and see if you agree with me or not. If you agree with me, great. If you disagree with me, that’s fine too. I’m not unbiased — I’m a fervent supporter of the Second Amendment, and I don’t hide that.

Bloomberg’s news arm will invariably write articles that are anti-Second Amendment but cloaked in the public safety mantra. They will never just come out and say how they really feel. They will never just say, “Look, guns are evil. Guns kill people. I hate guns, and the Second Amendment needs to be abolished and all the guns collected.”

Hell, I’d at least respect them for being honest. Stupid, but honest. Instead, they will skirt around the issue, attempting to build consensus within the uneducated populace.

I can see it now.

“We all want our children to be safe, don’t we? Then why in the world would you want your child in a school where any untrained, gun zealot can carry without any rules? Isn’t this putting your child’s life at risk? Why do you need a military style rifle? Nobody uses those for hunting. Our founding fathers never intended people to own machine guns. The Second Amendment was written to protect hunters.”

The list goes on and on. All lies.

As we get closer to the presidential election cycle (if we aren’t already in it — who can tell anymore?) the anti-gun rhetoric will increase. Bloomberg’s group will be poised to flood the market with lies, misinformation, made up statistics, and anything else they can think of to get another liberal idiot in the White House.

Gun owners for ‘gun control’ useful to anti-gunners for now

Democrat-supporting “Republican” gun owner Kemp stumps for more Bloomberg-financed “gun control.” Everytown for Gun Safety

“A responsible gun owner on why he supports common-sense gun laws,” Everytown for Gun Safety tells its Facebook followers, presenting a poster featuring Paul Kemp of Portland, Ore. Kemp warns against private sales being “a loophole,” and says “that’s a threat to me and law abiding gun owners everywhere.”

“I’m a registered Republican and a gun owner,” Kemp told the media after his brother-in-law was killed with a stolen gun in a“gun-free” mall. “But I secure my weapons, and I’m not going to give them up.”

He may not be willing to give his up, but he’s perfectly willing to throw standard capacity magazine owners under the bus. As for being a “Republican,” Kemp nonetheless supported Michael Bloomberg’s effort to reelect an anti-gun Democrat for governor (John Kitzhaber resigned in February following state and federal investigations into criminal allegations).

Per his Facebook page and Twitter feed, Kemp is not only for the background check/registration fraud and magazine bans, but he’s also against open carry of long guns, he enthusiastically spreads Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (formerly the National Coalition to Ban Handguns) propaganda, and he’s a fan of Mark and Gabby…

We’ve seen the antis do this before. We saw “Average Joe” presented as a Bloombergian poster boy for guns on the farm. We saw present its version of a “proud defender of the Second Amendment.”

In addition to gun owners for infringements, we’ve also seen two other developments: Phony “third way” gun groups and gun dealers for “gun control.” And now we have a gun club owner and dealer helping impose criminal penalties for noncompliance with anti-gun edicts on his patrons.

At a time when grassroots gun rights activists are fighting the Bloomberg AstroTurf money machine, at a time when it bought a measure in Washington State and is buying one in Nevada, and is trying to pass a bill in Oregon, Joe Deaser, owner of the Capital Gun Club, a member’s only facility that offers a “sophisticated [and] elite shooting experience,” comes down squarely on the side of the gun-grabbers. Deaser thinks California-style infringements extended nationwide would be a capital idea, and that fears of a registry are “unfounded,” in spite of states doing it, and in spite of the National Institute of Justice confirming the “effectiveness [of universal background checks] depends on … requiring gun registration,”

“Federal law” Deaser says, “bans the creation of such a registry.” Not only is the prohibition subject to being rescinded and changed, but no less a source than Chris Calabrese, legislative counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union, said “the language of proposed federal legislation left a door open for a new kind of record of sales between private sellers — as opposed to sales by federally licensed gun dealers — a record that may not be subject to the registry ban.”

Instead, Deaser dismisses “the extreme fringe” who raise these concerns as ‘ridiculous” [and] “just paranoid” as he makes a point of traveling to Oregon to call for prior restraint infringements in front of Floyd Prozanski’s Judiciary Committee. If people who point out the obvious are so disparaged, what must he think of those who flat out will not comply?

Two things are certain: Violent criminals, who are protected by law from gun registration requirements, won’t be slowed down one bit by what Kemp and Deaser are endorsing. And the enemies of gun rights, who are more than happy to accept their aid and comfort, will be using whatever turf is ceded to launch their next assault.

Actually, make that three things: Today’s gun owners hailed as “responsible” by the antis will be tomorrow’s “uncompromising extremists” when their usefulness is over and they stand in the way of the next phase in an unrelenting war on guns.

‘NRA Madness’ bracket shows 16 states trying to allow guns at college

This is from MSNBC.

The hysteria from Little Shannon Watts and her merry band of shrews is laughable.

Their loony ideas are dangerous to all freedom loving Americans.

Using the “March Madness” model from the annual NCAA basketball tournament, the pro-gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety released its “NRA Madness” bracket to highlight 16 states where the National Rifle Association (NRA) is advocating for legislation that would allow guns to be carried on college campuses.

Everytown, the country’s largest gun violence prevention group, released its online bracket as the national college basketball tournament prepared to start the round of 16 teams on Thursday night. Guns-on-campus bills currently are making their way through at least 12 state legislatures. If signed into law, the measures would clear the way for people to carry concealed, loaded handguns on campuses.

The NRA didn’t respond to msnbc’s requests for comment.

A red “X” within the bracket marked the defeat of guns-on-campus bills so far in South Dakota, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming. Everytown is asking Americans to sign up to oppose legislation that would allow weapons on campuses in the remaining 12 states — from Arkansas and Tennessee to Florida and Georgia. For each registrant, the organization says it will send a postcard to the governors or state leaders in the targeted states, urging them to reject the measures.

“Campuses are already filled with intense academic pressure and drugs and alcohol are easy to come by in many places. Should we really be adding guns into the mix?” Everytown posted on its website.

Colorado and Utah are the only two states where the law requires colleges and universities to let all concealed-carry permit holders have guns on campus. Another five states —Idaho, Mississippi, Oregon, Wisconsin and Minnesota — require colleges to permit residents to carry in some instances.

Republican state Rep. Greg Steube of Florida said a campus carry law would make colleges safer in his state by allowing gun owners to intervene in shooting situations. Gun-free zones, he said earlier this year, don’t prevent shootings from happening. Steube introduced his bill in January, just two months after a shooter injured three people at a Florida State University library.

Last April, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed a sweeping gun bill into law that allows firearms in several different kinds of buildings and areas, including in school classrooms. The legislation was deemed the “guns everywhere bill.”

But an overwhelming majority of college presidents, students and police chiefs oppose such bills.

The ghouls of gun control love to dance on the victims’ graves.

I am glad to see the family of Jessie DoyleCavett say they will not tolerate them dancing on Jessie’s grave.

In 2013, Jessie Doyle Cavett was shot and killed by her estranged husband, Josh Cavett. When Everytown for Gun Safety recently called Jessie’s sister–Jennie Cochran–to get permission to use the story to push gun control, Cochran told them not to use the story “for anything.”

She told Everytown that gun control simply “makes more victims,” and she doesn’t want her sister’s story used to do that.

Speaking to Fox News on February 4, Cochran said the only thing that would have saved her sister was a gun. She said, “There’s no way the police would have gotten there in time had she just dialed 911.”

Cochran explained that her sister’s estranged husband was a felon, so there was no reason to believe he was going to follow gun control laws that prevented him from being armed. She said there was no justification for believing a background check requirement would keep him from getting a gun.

Rather, Cochran said, “The only thing that would have leveled [things] out” was if her sister had a gun.

Fox News then played a recording of Everytown for Gun Safety calling to use Jessie’s story. Everytown’s Ann Wright asked Cochran if she would be “comfortable… sharing [her] story so other people would understand why we need to strengthen our gun laws.”

Cochran demurred, giving Wright pause; then Cochran said, “I am actually against it… I am very pro-gun, as is Jessie, so I would really hope you guys don’t use her story for anything.”

Wright said, “Okay,” yet Cochran continued: “Because the only thing that would have saved her was a gun.”

After Gun Dealer Threatens to Sue, Bloomberg Group Issues Correction

This is from The Blaze.

If there is a case I would like to see Crossfire Arms follow through with their lawsuit.

The Michael Bloomberg-financed Everytown for Gun Safety issued a correction to one of its reports after a Vermont gun dealer said he was considering suing over the allegation that he was selling guns online without conducting background checks, and a pro-gun website found faulty information.

Last week’s report originally asserted that more than 1,000 online gun ads in Vermont were from unlicensed dealers, and thus not conducting criminal background checks. But on Thursday, Everytown for Gun Safety acknowledged it had incorrectly identified 49 licensed gun dealers in Vermont as unlicensed.

This Jan. 17, 2013 file photo shows Michael Kiefer of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., checking out a display of rifles at the Rock River Arms booth during the 35th annual SHOT Show in Las Vegas. Fresh off a victory in Washington state, a leading gun control group, Everytown for Gun Safety, has targeted Oregon as the next prize in a campaign to require all gun sales go through background checks to keep them from criminals, the mentally ill and domestic abusers. (AP Photo/Julie Jacobson)

Before the Bloomberg group conceded misidentifying the 49 gun sellers, the pro-gun reported that at least six of the gun sellers named in the report for advertising online were in fact federally licensed firearms dealers. Among those licensed dealers incorrectly listed was Crossfire Arms in Mount Holly, Vermont.

Crossfire Arms owner Bobby Richards told Bearing Arms that he was exploring whether to file a suit against the Bloomberg group for accusing his business of violating federal law.

Richards advertises firearms on Armslist, a Cragistlist-type website for buying guns. Every gun photo he posts on Armslist bears a Crossfire Arms company logo, and some of those images were cited in Everytown’s report. Richards said he requires every purchaser of a gun he sells to on Armslist to complete a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Form 4473 and be screened by the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS.

Everytown’s full correction states:

“A previous version of this report incorrectly stated that we identified 1,106 ads posted by unlicensed Vermont sellers offering firearms for sale. We inadvertently included 49 ads posted by licensed dealers in Vermont in this total. This version of the report reflects data based on the updated total of 1,058 gun ads posted by unlicensed sellers, which yields an estimate of 2,926 unlicensed gun sales annually on just three websites in Vermont, including 121 gun sales to felons and domestic abusers.”

Both Politifact and took Everytown for Gun Safety to task last year for repeating the misleading statistic that there had been 74 school shooting since the Sandy Hook massacre.

A big Second Amendment win in Wisconsin

This is from Joe For America.

I bet little Mikey Bloomberg is furious he failed to buy another election.

Take that Mike Bloomberg.  We all know how much Mike Bloomberg hates freedom and the Second Amendment.  He’s committed to, among other things, supporting politicians and ballot measures that will gut the Right to Bear Arms.  We are pleased to say that he’s on a solid losing streak.

His Mayors Against Illegal Guns and the Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America have morphed into a group called Everytown for Gun Safety.  Bloomberg has put up $50 million in the 2014 election cycle to support politicians and measures that will pave the way for confiscation of firearms as the government has done in Australia.

Bloomberg has some small wins.  He helped out with the Colorado and New Jersey magazine bans and was on-board with the very restrictive New York state firearm law.  Colorado didn’t work out so well for the anti-gunners, Magpul shut down operations and move to Texas and Montana and they’ve gotten a ton of hostile press.  There’s a very good chance that, if Republicans take the Senate in Colorado in November they’ll rescind the magazine ban.  Magpul won’t be back though.

Sheriff David Clarke, Sheriff of Milwaukee County Wisconsin was at the center of Bloomberg’s ire, and Mike put $150,000 into the Sheriff’s race against Clarke.  Bloomberg spent more money on the race than both candidates, and here’s why.

We love Sheriff Clarke.  When Joe Arpaio finally dies in office, we’d invite Clarke to move to Phoenix and get away from the cold winters, he’s a snow bird we’d love to host.

As you can tell by the comments from the interview, Clarke’s Protect Your Family PSA got people fired up and it made him a target for the anti-gunners like Bloomberg.  Add to that the fact that Milwaukee County is a Democratic stronghold in Wisconsin and you’ve got a recipe for a Bloomberg victory, given that Clarke is a Democrat and it was the Democratic Primary that Bloomberg was trying to buy.

It looks like Milwaukee County isn’t for sale.  Not even the Democratic part of Milwaukee County because Bloomberg’s $150,000 bought him nothing but the thanks of the media outlets who got the money.

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s dollars have been defeated again, this time in Wisconsin. Despite Bloomberg dumping $150,000 into the Democrat primary for Milwaukee County Sheriff on behalf of anti-gun Milwaukee Police Lt. Chris Moews with a goal of defeating pro-self defense incumbent Sheriff David Clarke, Clarke was victorious last night. Clarke defeated Moews 52 percent to 48 percent.

Here at Curmudgeon Central we offer our sincere congratulations to Sheriff Clarke in his victory.  Something we didn’t think we’d see in our lifetime, a Democrat we would proudly vote for.

Here are 33 Questionable Entries on the ‘Viral’ Everytown Map of All School Shootings Since Newtown

This is from Independent Journal Review.

There is some question about some of the shootings in one of my posts called 74 Reasons to Home School.

I want to correct the questionable figures and locations.

There is more at this link.

Everytown for Gun Safety is an activist organization against law-abiding citizens carrying firearms. It was founded by Michael Bloomberg and Shannon Watts, and as The Blaze reports, headlines that 1.37 school shootings have occurred “every single week in the U.S. since the deadly 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut.”

No surprise, when it came out with its list of ‘every school shooting since Sandy Hook,’ it crammed every conceivable case onto it so as to make it appear like armed criminals were attacking our schools every week.

Huffington Post editor Mark Gongloff mapped Everytown’s data, and inevitably, the figure went viral. So viral, in fact, that news anchor Shepard Smith was repeatedly citing the “74 shootings” figure on his Fox News program Tuesday afternoon. In any event, here is the map:

So, using Sandy Hook as the starting point and running until today’s tragicOregon school shooting, what do these datapoints represent? Well, it turns out that they represent all sorts of things. They turn out to be “assaults, homicides, suicides, and accidental shootings” that happen “inside a school building or on school or campus grounds.”

Let’s just note for the record here that 95%+ of these areas are in so-called “gun-free zones” before moving on. In other words, they have perfect gun control regimes in theory.

Anyway, journalist Charles C. Johnson wanted a closer look at the cases that Everytown was portraying as “school shootings.” This is what he found:

Another fake shooting listed by Everytown gun map was drug related, not on campus.
