The Need For Secure Borders

H/T Town Hall.

Sheriff Dave Clarke(Ret.) is spot on with his observations about the need for border security.

President Trump is sending national guard troops to protect America’s southern border. Not only is this a great policy decision, but it’s a strategic one that puts America first.

The troops will help secure the border from illegal immigration, a decision that will protect the American people from foreign and domestic threats. Trump has approached the very solemn duty of protecting the American people by doing what most politicians won’t: actually defending our borders.

America is a sovereign nation, one that is discernible by its identifiable borders that must be secured and defended. Countries have gone to war over border disputes including airspace. We read news stories all the time about air space being violated. That’s how serious countries take their sovereignty. Apparently, that isn’t the case here in the United States.

There are three major reasons America needs to protect and secure its borders: security, health, and American jobs.

The most important aspect of immigration reform is keeping America safe. Illegal drugs, weapons, terrorists, and criminal gangs are pouring into the United States through our unsecured border. The growth of the dangerous criminal gang MS-13 was in part the result of a defective Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and other illegal southern border crossings.

The second aspect is preventing the potential spread of infectious diseases being brought to the United States. For example, the spread of the Zika virus from South America and the H1N1 or swine flu outbreak from several years ago were in part spread by immigration. In order to prevent such diseases from turning into a pandemic, we started monitoring people for symptoms coming into the country – that’s border enforcement. If people enter the country illegally, we cannot effectively control any disease they may carry.

The third reason that border control is necessary is to deter the influx of another country’s ne’er-do-wells. Many people coming across America’s southern border are in need of welfare services. This is a strain on limited public resources like medical services, schools, and yes, the criminal justice system. Trump was right when he said some countries do not always send us their best and brightest – most immigrants are not self-sufficient. Please tell me how a person who doesn’t have the means to support themselves and does not speak proper English is going to be anything other than a burden on society? Who is going to pick up the tab for this? The American taxpayer will.

It’s important to examine some of the broken immigration policies that Congress must immediately address. Trump’s recent actions need to be supplemented with more speedy and effective processing of people who illegally trespass into our country. The backlog has got to be cleaned up through a streamlined deportation process. Individuals are either in the country legally or illegally – there is no gray area. However, deportation lawyers drag this out and we shouldn’t let them. Trump has provided for more agents and judges to clean up this backlog and we should monitor it closely for results through benchmarks of success.

Illegal aliens should be detained pending their deportation hearing, and should not be allowed to walk among the public, use public services, and take jobs away from American citizens. Thankfully, Trump recently signed a memorandum ensuring an end to the “catch and release” policy.

Oftentimes, unscrupulous employers victimize U.S. citizens by providing jobs and safe havens for illegal aliens – a criminal act. Where are we going to put them? We know that Guantanamo Bay currently has space.

Trump has offered a common sense fix for the DACA dilemma. Congress still shows no sense of urgency about this crisis, instead choosing to use it as campaign leverage going into November. His four pillars include: capping chain migration, ending the visa lottery program, mandating employment e-verification, and harshly fining employers who circumvent the law. Those policies should begin today.

We have a president who is going to do more than pay lip service to our broken immigration system like his previous three predecessors had done. Past presidents from both parties spewed hot air about what we needed to do yet they never did much. Many in the media mistook their lip service for accomplishment. President Trump says what he means and means what he says. Sending 4,000 national guard troops to our southern border is action, and actions speak louder than words. Congress needs to exhibit the same sense of urgency that he has.

It’s time to build the wall.

Indiana Ponders Revoking Business Licenses From Employers Who Hire Illegal Immigrants

This is from The Daily Signal.

If you employ illegals you should lose your business license.

Indiana may crack down soon on employers who hire illegal immigrants, under a new bill that would prohibit those convicted of doing so from practicing business in the state.

The legislation, announced in the Indiana General Assembly last week, would enable judges to revoke business licenses from employers who repeatedly and “knowingly” hire illegal immigrants.

State Sen. Mike Delph, R-Carmel, told IndyStar that he introduced the bill to strip financial incentives from employers “who profit off of illegal immigration.”

Jon Feere, a legal policy analyst at the Center for Immigration Studies, said the legislation imposes “high stakes” on employers. He said it likely would spur more businesses to use E-Verify—the government database that matches an employee’s I-9 form to federal records for confirm legal eligibility to work.

To that end, Feere told The Daily Signal, the bill effectively would discourage illegal hiring practices because employers who use the federal registration system would be immune from prosecution. He said:

Ultimately, that’s a good thing for employers who are law-abiding since they will no longer have to compete with unscrupulous businesses that get work and sales by undercutting wages. It’s also a good thing for legal workers and taxpayers, who will likely see illegal immigration deterred from Indiana.

Indiana law currently requires that state agencies and public contractors use E-Verify. Private employers only need to enroll if they would like to qualify for specific tax credits on state income taxes.

Although the bill could be effective in encouraging businesses to use E-Verify, Feere said, it may be more effective for state legislators to simply mandate that all employers use the system.

study from the Pew Research Center found that Indiana’s population of illegal immigrants sharply dropped off in recent years, falling from 100,000 in 2009 to 85,000 in 2012.

At least three states—Alabama, Arizona, and Missouri—already have laws in place that strip business licenses from employers who hire illegal immigrants.

Kevin Brinegar, president of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, said Delph’s legislation threatens economic development in the state and hinders the chamber’s efforts to spur job growth.

“We absolutely do not condone employers knowingly hiring undocumented workers, but sometime it’s hard to distinguish what’s knowingly and what’s unknowingly,” he told The Daily Signal. “The punishment just doesn’t fit the crime.”

Brinegar said because immigration is a federal issue, it should be dealt with at the federal level, not at the state level.

“It could certainly be argued that Congress has done an abysmal job dealing with that issue, but that doesn’t mean that states should start taking things into their own hands,” he said.

Hans von Spakovsky, a senior legal fellow at The Heritage Foundation, said the constitutionality of revoking business licenses from employers who hire illegal immigrants was settled in 2011.

The Supreme Court ruled on an identical Arizona law when it took up Chamber of Commerce v. Whiting, von Spakovsky told The Daily Signal. Noting the high court decided that federal law didn’t prevent states from imposing penalties on businesses that hire illegal immigrants, he said of the Indiana measure:

This is a great piece of legislation that can be a very effective tool in preventing employers from hiring illegal aliens, particularly in the face of the unwillingness of the Obama administration to enforce federal prohibitions on such hiring.

Prospect Of Real Immigration Debate Infuriates NYT Editorial Board

This is from The Daily Caller.

It is about time someone from the GOP told it like it is about illegal immigration.

The New York Times editorial board slammed Donald Trump for challenging the Washington consensus on immigration Thursday, clearly fuming at the thought of a debate they believe is settled.

“It has long been a hard job to keep the highly combustible immigration debate on the right side of sanity and reality,” the board wrote. “That progress is now being undone before our eyes in the presidential campaign, courtesy of the faux-populist billionaire who says immigrants are the reason this country is weak and frightened and going to hell.

Americans have come to a consensus on immigration policy, according to the board. Illegal immigrants? Give them legal status and a path to citizenship. Soaring numbers of legal immigrants? The more the merrier. (RELATED: Media Ignores Evidence Americans Want REDUCED Legal Immigration)

“The solutions are well known,” the board wrote, lauding “forward-thinking” cities that have pushed past the debate and offered illegal immigrants driver’s licenses and identity cards, “all for the common good.”

But Trump and his ideas are “emboldening” a group of “fringe lawmakers” determined to thwart the will of the majority by opposing “any positive immigration legislation.” (RELATED: Liberal Media In A Frenzy Over Walker’s Pro-Worker Immigration Stance)

The plan he laid out includes building a wall on the Southern border, revoking automatic birthright citizenship and deporting illegal immigrants. Trump also proposed a legal immigration policy that would prioritize American workers and make it more expensive for businesses to hire foreign guest workers.

His ideas are obviously terrible, the board writes, calling them “despicable,” xenophobic, racist, toxic, cruel, and “noxious.” But they could force a dangerous debate in the Republican primaries and general election.

“The danger is that when the campaign is over, no matter what becomes of Mr. Trump’s candidacy, he will have further poisoned the debate with his noxious positions, normalized an extremism whose toxicity is dulled by familiarity and is validated by a feckless party.”
The Times doesn’t bother to back up its position on Trump’s plan with facts or context, apparently because it’s so obviously correct. “He would flood the country with immigration agents and — it almost goes without saying — dismantle the economy and shred America’s standing as an immigrant-welcoming nation.”

Since 1970, the foreign-born population has increased by more than 325 percent to an all-time high of 42 million in 2015, while wages and share of income fell. That population is now 13 percent of the U.S. population — the largest share in more than a hundred years. (RELATED: Wages Declined As Immigration Surged)

If federal law is not changed, the U.S. is on track to issue 10 million green cards over the next decade — a massive new permanent resident bloc larger than the combined populations of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Wages remain fairly stagnant, and record numbers of Americans are not in the workforce. In July, 93.8 million people in the U.S. ages 16 and older were not employed or looking for work, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.

Nearly one in five U.S. residents will be an immigrant by 2060, an analysis of Census Bureau data by the anti-immigration a Center for Immigration Studies found. And immigrants will account for 82 percent of population growth in the U.S. from 2010 through 2060.

Suspect Vehicle

I got this in an email.
The United States Border Patrol is asking everyone to keep on the lookout for a red 1951 Chevy.
They suspect this car is being used to smuggle illegal immigrants across the border from Mexico and into points along the U.S. border.
If you see the vehicle pictured below and have reason to believe that it is the suspect vehicle, you are urged to contact your local police department or the U. S. Border Patrol.

20 Questions You’re Not Supposed To Ask In America Today

This is from Town Hall.

These questions and more should be asked daily.

1) If Islam is really a religion of peace, as opposed to a particularly violent religion, then why do so many people and organizations across the world refuse to show Muhammad cartoons out of fear that they’ll be murdered by devout Muslims for doing it?

2) If illegal immigrants are supposed to help our economy, then why weren’t they helping the economies of the poor nations they fled?

3) Given that Hillary Clinton’s nearly accomplishment-free political career has been based on riding the coattails of a serial adulterer who has humiliated and cheated on her over and over, isn’t Hillary Clinton a terrible role model for young women?

4) If Barack Obama can directly contradict the laws on the books by refusing to deport millions of illegal aliens because of “prosecutorial discretion,” couldn’t a Republican President use the same precedent and refuse to prosecute people who don’t pay a capital gains tax or who violate EPA rules?

5) Wouldn’t it be just as stupid to send teenage Boy Scouts into the woods alone with gay men as it would to send teenage Girl Scouts into the woods alone with heterosexual men?

6) If Nazis (National Socialist German Workers’ Party) were supposed to be Right Wing, then why did they proclaim themselves to be enemies of capitalism, implement socialist policies and call themselves socialists?

7) Why should we take the threat of climate change seriously enough to cut back our lifestyles when even Al Gore, the foremost promoter of global warming hysteria, lives in a mansion, flies on private jets and rides around in SUVs?

8) What’s the difference between say, the KKK and the NAACP, LA Raza, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the New Black Panthers and the Nation of Islam other than the color of their skin, the skin color of the people they hate and their level of societal acceptance?

9) If we’re not willing to ask middle class Americans to at least pay in taxes what services provided to them from the government cost, then isn’t it time to start paring back the services the government offers until we get to a level of government that everyone but the poor is willing and able to pay for?

10) If transsexuals are just mentally ill and need treatment, not trapped in the wrong body, then isn’t encouraging them to mutilate themselves via surgery instead of getting psychological treatment extremely harmful to them?

11) If ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) has nothing to do with Islam, then why does it have “Islamic” in its name?

12) Since women are now 33% more likely to earn college degrees than men, is it time to radically shift our education system in the name of equality so as to better educate men?

13) If cites like Detroit and Baltimore have been run by liberals for decades, then aren’t Democrats fully responsible for the problems those cities have?

14) Isn’t it racist to argue that black Americans are so uniquely stupid and incompetent that they can’t even manage to get a government ID to vote?

15) If a man works more hours than a woman, takes off less time to be with his children and does more unpleasant, difficult jobs, shouldn’t he make more money than she does?

16) Isn’t a media personality — with a platform that gets him out to large numbers of people — who falsely accuses someone of racism doing much more damage to society and promoting more hatred than some hick or frat boy who hates black people because of the color of their skin?

17) If Barack Obama can make large changes to Obamacare without the approval of Congress, then couldn’t a Republican President use the same precedent to gut Obamacare regardless of what Congress has to say about it?

18) If gay marriage is a violation of the “equal protection” clause of the Constitution, how did that “right” lie undiscovered since 1868, a span of almost 150 years?

19) If gun-free zones are effective and border fences are ineffective, why is the border of the White House surrounded by a huge fence guarded by lots of Secret Service agents with guns?

20) If black Americans commit 49.3% of all murders and account for 51.5% of all violent crime among juveniles, yet there are almost two white Americans killed by the police for every black American (2,151 vs. 1130 over 12 years), then aren’t black Americans actually less likely to be killed by police than you’d expect given the crime statistics?

ACLU Demands Religious Groups Provide ABORTIONS For Illegal Immigrants

This is from The Daily Caller.

If the ACLU wants these illegals to have abortions, let them pay for them.

Better yet, pack them up and send them back where ever they came from.

The American Civil Liberties Union will seek a federal court order compelling the U.S. government to release documents related to federal contracts with religious relief agencies that assist illegal immigrants.

The ACLU is seeking the information over its concerns that a huge majority of women and underage girls who illegally immigrate to the United States endure rape and other forms of sexual assault, according to a press release obtained by the Arizona Daily Independent.

Specifically, the venerable civil rights organization estimates, “between 60 and 80 percent of women and girls who cross the border are sexually assaulted.”

Does the ACLU want to clamp down on the massive border surge of the Obama era to prevent such intolerable human rights violations? No. Of course not. Don’t be ridiculous.

Instead, the ACLU wants to force religious organizations to pay for abortions for illegal immigrants who have been raped and become pregnant.

The civil rights group also wants religious groups which receive federal funding to give out free or subsidized contraception, suggesting that such assistance is necessary “to meet the basic needs” of underage teen illegal immigrants.

The faith-based organizations “impose their religious beliefs on these teens by denying them access to contraception, emergency contraception, and abortion,” the ACLU argued, according to the Daily Independent.

“Many unaccompanied teenagers come into the U.S. fleeing abuse and torture in their home countries. Many have been sexually abused or assaulted or forced into prostitution,” said ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project attorney Brigitte Amiri.

Amiri gave virtually this same stock quote back in 2008 in a press release entitled “Bush Administration Blocks Medical Services For Immigrant Teens In U.S. Care” — except she said just “some have been sexually abused or assaulted or forced into prostitution.”

The current fracas involves a draft rule by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement that will force American religious relief agencies to provide abortions and contraception services to the illegal immigrants those groups serve.

As the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops gently explained in February, forcing a Catholic group or an evangelical group to pay for abortions or contraception creates “moral concerns.”

The new rule would leave faith-based groups with no choice but “to restrict their work,” which “could create an unmanageable backlog for services” for unaccompanied minor children.

“We believe that, through practical discussions, we can find a resolution that allows the government to fulfill its obligation to care for unaccompanied children, while also respecting the religious and moral beliefs of faith-based organization that, to date, have provided such critical care for this vulnerable population,” the bishops’ group said.

Six out of the nine national refugee resettlement groups in the United States are faith-based agencies, the bishops also noted.

This is from Breitbarts Big Government.

Obama claims the illegals will not overburden the taxpayers is full of crap.

It is like if you like your plan you can keep your plan and if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor.

We all know how that worked out.×9&widgetId=2&trackingGroup=69017

President Barack Obama claimed that illegal immigrants do not burden taxpayers and are not a drain on public resources.

In an interview with National Public Radio (NPR), Obama also slammed and dismissed those who are concerned about the negative impact that illegal immigration often has on American workers (U.S.-born and legal immigrants) as “nativists.”

“If you’re concerned that somehow illegal immigrants are a drain on resources and forcing, you know, Americans to pay for services for these folks, well, every study shows that’s just not the case,” Obama claimed. “Generally, these folks don’t use a lot of services, and my executive action specifically is crafted so that they’re not a drain on taxpayers; instead, they’re going to be paying taxes, and we can make sure that they are.”

A comprehensive 2012 Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) report, though, found that that households headed by illegal immigrants were more likely to be on a welfare program than those headed by U.S.-born Americans or legal immigrants, which means that U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants were more likely to be in poverty and dependent on government. In Texas, 58% of households headed by illegal immigrants on a welfare program. In California and Illinois, 55% were.” The report found that “nationally, illegal immigrants and their U.S.-born children account for 9.9 percent of all persons in poverty, compared to their 4.9 percent share of nation’s total population.”

Illegal immigrants were also more likely to be uninsured. According to the study, “14.6 percent of all uninsured persons in the United States are estimated to be illegal aliens or the young children of illegal immigrants.” And in states like Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas, the impact was “much larger,” according to the report: “In Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas, roughly one-fourth of the uninsured are illegal immigrants and their children. In New Jersey, Washington, and North Carolina roughly one-fifth of the uninsured are illegal immigrants.”

Furthermore, illegal immigrants negatively impact wages, especially those of low-income Americans attempting to climb the economic ladder. As Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has repeatedly pointed out, “Harvard professor George Borjas determined that high levels of immigration from 1980 through 2000 resulted in a 7.4% wage reduction for workers without a high school diploma. Similarly, he found current immigration policy resulted in a net wage loss of $402 billion for workers competing directly with immigrant labor.” And the Congressional Budget Office also determined that the Senate’s “Gang of Eight” immigration bill would also lower wages of American workers.

Though illegal immigrants who receive executive amnesty will not have to pay back taxes, Obama claimed his executive action was crafted in a way to ensure that illegal immigrants would not be a drain on taxpayers since they will begin to pay taxes.

Obama also said “there are a lot of Republicans” who believe in a comprehensive amnesty bill, which he noted was “more generous” than his executive amnesty.

“We know that because those folks voted for a comprehensive bill in the Senate that in many ways was more generous than I was able to offer through executive action,” he said.

GOP Asks Obama To Reveal His Secret Amnesty Plans

This is from The Daily Caller.

Obama will remain silent about his plans for the illegal immigrants as he knows his plan for amnesty will hurt DemocRats.

GOP legislators want President Barack Obama to explain his planned amnesty for illegal immigrants before Americans vote on Nov. 4.

“Rather than attempt to hide these actions from the American people until after the midterm elections, Americans should be given the chance to come to their own conclusions… [so] they can then exercise their constitutional right to petition the federal government and let you know their opinions,” said the Sept. 20 letter from 22 GOP legislators.

Obama announced in June that he would reduce enforcement of immigration law by the end of summer. He made the statement after GOP leaders told him they would not schedule a vote on the unpopular Senate immigration bill. (RELATED: Obama’s Border Meltdown Is Nation’s Top Problem)

GOP legislators rejected the business-backed bill after polls showed the public’s growing opposition.

If approved, the bill would have cut salaries and widened the wealth gap by doubling the annual inflow of immigrants and guest-workers up to nearly 4 million per year. That’s almost level with the 4.3 million Americans who join the workforce each year. (RELATED: CBO Says Immigration Bill Aids Investors, Not Wage Earners)

But White House officials read those polls too, and announced in early September that Obama would delay his executive amnesty until after the election. (RELATED: Obama’s Amnesty Support Tumbles 14 Points Since 2012)

White House officials have not revealed Obama’s draft plans, but have repeatedly suggested that he will use the complex immigration laws to give residency permits and work-permits to more than 4 million illegals.

That action would dramatically boost the 2015 legal inflow of foreign job seekers up to roughly 6 million, when the routine inflow of 1 million legal immigrants and 700,000 foreign workers are included in the total.

Mother Of Police Officer Killed By Illegal Alien Writes Letter To President Obama

This is from Independent Journal Review.

Obama does not give a Damn about this police officer being killed by a drunken illegal.

The only thing about these illegals Obama cares about is getting them to vote DemocRat.

How long before she starts getting harassed by the Internal Revenues jackbooted thugs?

The mother of a Mesa, Arizona, police officer who was killed by an illegal alien has written a letter to Barack Obama. Her son, Sgt. Brandon Mendoza, was killed when the illegal was driving the wrong way on the road and hit his vehicle head on. Mary Ann Mendoza released the following letter:

President Obama,

I am writing this letter to you regarding illegal immigrants.

As a tax paying, law abiding citizen of the United States, I WANT my voice heard on this issue. My son, Sergeant Brandon Mendoza, an officer who was with the City of Mesa, Arizona police department, was killed in a tragic head on collision on May 12, 2014 by a wrong way driver on our freeways.

This man happened to be an illegal immigrant, was in this country illegally, convicted of previous crimes, no Social Security number, no valid driver’s license BUT he had purchased a vehicle and registered it to drive in Maricopa County Arizona.

I had my son’s life STOLEN from me by a man who didn’t value his life, was 3X the legal limit drunk, was high on Meth, drove for over 35 miles THE WRONG WAY on 4 different freeways and had NO BUSINESS BEING IN THIS COUNTRY!!!

The Federal Government knew he, Raul Silva Corona , was an illegal immigrant when he was convicted on crimes in 1994 in Colorado. The prosecutors were “lenient” on him and several charges were dismissed. When he was convicted of these crimes and 1994 and the government knew he was in the country illegally, why wasn’t he deported? Why are any of these illegal criminals in this country ??

I am furious that the Federal Government allowed this criminal to stay in this country and KILL my son! I have attached several articles for you to PERSONALLY read about my son. He was an Icon with the City of Mesa Police Department. He was instrumental in making life better for people of all walks of life in the park project he took on. He was humble, selfless, worked many hours off the clock helping disadvantaged children and often used his own money to do things for the community, including “adopting” children at Christmas to provide them with gifts….out of his own money!!

I have attached numerous articles for you to read about my son. This was not a life that should have been taken so early. The good he was doing in our community is remarkable, the difference he made in people’s lives is amazing and the comfort he brought people in friendship was unmeasurable.

All you have to do is Google ” Sgt/Officer Brandon Mendoza” and you will have plenty of reading material about my wonderful son who had just passed his Sergeant’s exam to become a Sgt. The Chief of Police posthumously promoted him during the week of his funeral but that highlight of his life was stolen from him!!! He was officer of the year last year. Officer of the quarter for the first quarter of 2014. He was only 32 years old and had done more in his life than most of us have done in a lifetime!

I am going to have my voice heard and I want to you to know what my personal feeling is on whether CRIMINAL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS should be allowed in this country. I have been DIRECTLY affected by this. I am sure if your life had been affected like mine has been, you would have a different view of this situation. I have lived in Arizona most of my life. My son, Brandon Mendoza, was half Hispanic. It’s not the color of skin that my son or I see, it’s the person and how they conduct their lives. If you can’t enter this country legally then you shouldn’t be here. If you commit crimes, you should pay the time any of us as US Citizens would have to serve.

Letting these illegal criminals out of our jails before their time is served and turning them loose on the streets to commit further crimes and KILL our loved ones is NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ME!! AND it shouldn’t be acceptable to any US Citizen. Mr. President, you don’t have the right to make this decision yourself…I have a say, even if it is for one moment. Maybe that one moment will light a spark with another citizen who can then light a candle, who can then light a bonfire, who can then light a city up and so on. My light has just been lit and I am not going to back down when so many of these illegal immigrants have more rights than we do. My son’s death will not be ignored as another statistic.

I want laws to change that would not allow illegal immigrants to purchase vehicles in our country and register them to drive them in our states WITHOUT having driver’s licenses to drive them legally. How is this happening??? I want laws changed that will force the removal of illegal immigrants who break our laws. This man, this repeated law breaker, was allowed to be released and he continued breaking the laws in our country until what???? UNTIL HE WAS STOPPED BY MY SON IN A HEAD ON COLLISION THAT NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED!!!! HE KILLED AN OFFICER OF THE LAW AS HIS LAST ACT!!!

When are you going to see the flip side to this issue? When will you realize the hurt and pain and destruction these illegal immigrants who break the law will continue to cause???? Until you live in a state that deals with this on a daily basis, you will not understand it.

I want answers that make sense. I want answers from you personally as to why this criminal was allowed to stay in our country until he took my son’s life.

Mary Ann Mendoza

Well said, Mrs. Mendoza. While we are sorry for your loss, we hope that your words will encourage others to speak out as well.

13 Quotes You Need To Read About Illegal Immigration

This is from Town Hall.

1) “Could legalizing an estimated 11 million illegal aliens tip our precarious national finances into insolvency? Could be. Robert Rector, who works on such problems at the Heritage Foundation stated, “Granting amnesty or legal status to illegals will generate costs in Medicare and Social Security alone of $2.5 trillion above any taxes paid in” (Daily Caller, January 31). Two and a half trillion dollars? Yep. That’s Trillion with a T!” — Jim Robb

2) “57 percent of all households that are led by an immigrant (legal or illegal) are enrolled in at least one welfare program.” – Michael Snyder

3) “According to the California Hospital Association, health care for illegal aliens is costing state taxpayers well over $1 billion a year. Eighty-four hospitals across California have already been forced to close because of unpaid bills by illegal aliens.” – Ann Coulter

4) “While harrying and stalling tea party groups seeking nonprofit status, the Internal Revenue Service mailed $4.2 billion in child-credit checks to undocumented immigrants. Critics say midlevel IRS bureaucrats continue to abuse the Additional Child Tax Credit program by dispensing $1,000 checks to families in this country illegally.

‘The law needs clarification that undocumented immigrants are not eligible,’ Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, told in a statement….The IRS has said it doesn’t believe the ACTC law allows the agency to deny payment to undocumented immigrants. Watchdog reported in June that disbursement of ACTC credits has grown rapidly — and suspiciously — with increased issuance of Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers as substitutes for Social Security numbers. ITIN holders are not required to prove legal residency, and ITIN applications are running at the rate of 1 million a year.

Federal investigators identified one address in Atlanta where 23,994 ITIN refunds totaling $46,378,040 were delivered. A single bank account there received 8,393 refunds. Records indicate that undocumented immigrants in Virginia received $87.9 million in ACTC cash from the IRS. Watchdog reported that $163,711 went to a single address in the tiny eastern shore town of Parksley.” —

5) “Contrary to President Obama’s claims of record deportations, John Sandweg, the director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, admits ICE deported only 134,000 illegal immigrants from the country’s interior in 2012. That figure — down 40 percent since 2009, when Obama took office — represents just 0.2 percent of the estimated 11.7 million illegals in the United States.” – Kenric Ward

6) “At least 99.92% of illegal immigrants and visa overstays without known crimes on their records did not face removal.” – Jeff Sessions

7) “Of 472 civilian occupations defined by the Department of Commerce, only six are majority immigrant (legal and illegal). These six occupations account for 1 percent of the total U.S. workforce. Many jobs often thought to be overwhelmingly done by immigrants are in fact majority native-born: 51 percent of maids are U.S.-born, as are 63 percent of butchers and meat processors, and 73 percent of janitors.” — Mark Krikorian

8) “In the fourth quarter of 2012, there were 27 million American citizens who were 18 to 65 years old, had no education beyond high school, and were not working. (This figure excludes those in jails or prisons.) If just one-fourth of them were employed, their number would nearly equal that of the illegal-alien work force outside agriculture. Some of the unemployed may lack a sufficient work ethic, but note that real wages (adjusted for inflation) for less-educated Americans have declined 10 to 22 percent in the past three decades as immigration has grown. Relative to the real wages of college graduates, the decline is even more dramatic. That less-skilled work pays so much less than what it used to likely explains, at least in part, any erosion of the work ethic among less-skilled workers.

There is good evidence that immigration has reduced wages and employment opportunities for less-educated Americans. Even more important, there is no shortage of less-skilled labor in the United States. To be sure, if employers’ access to the labor of less-skilled immigrants, both legal and illegal, were curtailed, they would have to pay higher wages and guarantee better working conditions to attract and retain native-born citizens. But improving the lives of our poorest workers, legal immigrants as well as natives, should be viewed as good public policy.” — Steven Carmota

9) “According to a Pew Hispanic Center survey released in October, just 34 percent of Latino registered voters considered immigration to be ‘extremely important’ to them. That trailed education (55 percent); jobs and the economy (54 percent); health care (50 percent); the federal budget deficit (36 percent) and barely edged out taxes (33 percent). It’s quite possible, in other words, that Republicans could back some form of amnesty for illegal immigrants, and still find that they don’t improve among this voting bloc. Also, a softer line on immigration could hurt Republicans’ ability to win over working class voters who feel threatened by cheaper labor, and working class voters are a bloc that another contingent of pundits views as crucial to GOP comeback chances.” — <href=”#.ukmoi4dx23g”>Philip Klein

10) “In 2006, the Secure Fence Act was signed into law, requiring the Department of Homeland Security to build upward of 700 miles of double layered fencing along the U. S-Mexico border. While the Obama administration is quick to state that the targets have been met, only a small fraction — in fact, less than 40 miles — of the newly implemented infrastructure is double-layered.” – Duncan Hunter

11) “You can be in the country illegally, you can have an extensive criminal history, you can have multiple criminal convictions for serious offenses, and there is nothing that we can do to touch you.” – Chris Crane, president of the ICE Council, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents’ union

12) “Roughly one in six illegal immigrants is re-arrested on criminal charges within three years of release, according to new government data being released Tuesday. Those charges range from murder to drunken-driving and, according to House Republicans pushing out the report, are symptoms of what they describe as a “dangerous and deadly” immigration policy. The findings, obtained by Fox News, are contained in reports by the Republican-controlled House Judiciary Committee and nonpartisan Congressional Research Service. They are the result of the committee’s subpoena request for Department of Homeland Security records from October 2008 to July 2011.

The information was analyzed by the CRS, which also broke down the information for criminal immigrants — legal immigrants who committed crimes and were arrested again over the three-year period. Together, the two groups also had a roughly one-in-six recidivism rate. The records show 276,412 reported charges against illegal and criminal immigrants over that three-year period as identified by Secure Communities, a federal program that essentially attempts to make best use of resources by identifying and prioritizing which illegal immigrants pose the biggest threat to public safety and should be arrested or deported.

Of the 160,000 people in the database, more than 26,000 were re-arrested — accounting for nearly 58,000 crimes and violations. They allegedly committed nearly 8,500 drunken-driving offenses and more than 6,000 drug-related violations. The records also show major criminal offenses, which included murder, battery, rape, kidnapping and nearly 3,000 thefts. Roughly 2 percent of the crimes included carjacking, child molestation, lynching and torture, according to the 13-page Congressional Research Service report.” — Fox News

13) “According to a May report of the Center for Immigration Studies, of the 36,000 criminal aliens who, while awaiting deportation, were set free by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, 193 had been convicted of homicide, 426 of sexual assault, 303 of kidnaping, 1,075 of aggravated assault, 1,160 for stolen vehicles, 9,187 for possession or use of dangerous drugs, and 16,070 for driving drunk or drugged. Those 36,000 criminal aliens are roughly equivalent to three-and-a-half divisions of felons and social misfits released into our midst. And this does not include the 68,000 illegal aliens against whom ICE declined to press criminal charges last year, but turned loose.” — Pat Buchanan
