This is from Life of a Nut,Shell.

Most of us know of the comparable relationship between Lincoln and Kennedy; but have you ever considered the comparisons between President Obama and Lincoln? You might be quite surprised…

Parallels of Abraham Lincoln and Barack Hussein Obama:

  1. Lincoln placed his hand on thKennedye Bible for his inauguration
Obama used the very same Bible Lincoln used, for his inauguration.
  2. Lincoln came from Illinois .
    Obama comes from Illinois .
  3. Lincoln served in the Illinois Legislature.

Amazing, isn’t it?

Bobby Kennedy’s Daughter on Piers Morgan: LaPierre an ‘Assassin’

This is from Truth Revolt.

Two irrelevant twits talk out of their ass.

First the spawn of Bobby I screwed my dead brothers

wife before he was buried Kennedy.

Kerry Kennedy a vapid twit that has lived on the family

dole with money made from  rum running.

Piers Morgan a mental case deported from Britain.

Piers Morgan’s gun control crusade continued Wednesday on Piers Morgan Live, as he found some new, particularly high-profile graves to stand on—those of JFK and Bobby Kennedy—to call for the reduction of Americans’ freedom to bear arms.

In an hour dedicated to remembering JFK on the 50th anniversary of his assassination, Morgan invited on the daughter of Bobby Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy. Near the end of the segment, he suddenly turned the discussion to gun control.

Morgan: Obviously both JFK and your father were shot dead with guns. And I read the other day that more Americans have been killed by guns since then than have died in all wars that America has been involved in for centuries. And also… one and half million Americans have died from guns since your father and your uncle. How will it ever change, if even their deaths coming so soon after each other didn’t really force much change? How do you see a breakthrough?

Kennedy started by thanking Morgan for his steadfast advocacy for gun control, which he fatalistically dismissed:

Morgan: I don’t feel the debate goes anywhere here.

Kerry Kennedy: Well, it’s hard, it’s hard. But I think that the only way we are going to make this happen is that Americans who don’t agree with Wayne LaPierre, who has been called an assassin, are gonna have to stand up and band together and start saying we demand change. We demand change of our politicians. We demand change of our leadership. And we’re not going to accept that guns run rampant anymore. You know there are more gun dealers in the United States than McDonald’s hamburger places. We have got to put an end to this craziness. Our children are dying in the streets. Our children are dying in our homes. We’ve got to stop it.

A few notes: Kennedy’s reference to Wayne LaPierre as an “assassin” is unclear. Perhaps she was referencing the University of Rhode Island history professor’s call for the assassination of LaPierre. As for her McDonald’s stat, that’s true but includes all individuals who have obtained federal licenses to trade guns at gun shows. But being technically true doesn’t make it relevant. As for Morgan, his track record on gun violence facts has beenless than sterling.

Regardless, the flaw in Morgan’s and Kennedy’s argument goes far deeper than statistics. As always with the Left, this is about controlling people, not guns, and the very laws they push to supposedly protect Americans would only leave them more vulnerable and, by design, dependent on the state.

Democrat War on Women: Let Me Count the Ways

This is from Godfather Politics.

The DemocRats are known for their misuse and abuse of women.

Men like John,Bobbie and Ted Kennedy,Chris Dodd,Eliot Spitzer,John Edwards,

Bill Clinton,Anthony Wiener,Robert Filner and the list goes on and on.

I have not forgotten the Republicans like Newt Gingrich and Mark Sanford.

Unlike the above named DemocRats Newt and Mark were shunned by

their party.

The DemocRats circled the wagons to save them and it became a

resume enhancement for them.

Liberals are all about making unfounded charges against conservatives. Opposing abortion on demand that kills preborn babies – 50 percent of which are female and in some countries an even higher percentage – is turned into a “Republican war on women.” Forcing me to pay for a woman’s birth control bills is not viewed as government theft but an assault on a woman’s right to reproductive health.

I firmly believe that the war on women charge is designed to cloud the fact that Democrat icons have been in the woman-abuse business for decades and the reason that liberal women support these abusers is because they support policies like abortion on demand.

They’re willing to tolerate some abuse in order to garner a larger prize. Consider Robert Filner, the current, sex-abusing mayor of San Diego. He got into office because of union support: “Filner was swept into office last year largely thanks to efforts by the San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council, which contributed more than $2 million as well as shoe leather, phone banks and related efforts to get the city’s first Democratic mayor in two decades into office.”

While Lorena Gonzalez, former head of the San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council and current Assemblywoman has come out against Filner and called for him to resign, Tom Lemmon, head of the San Diego County Building and Construction Trades Council said he believes in ‘due process’ and explained, ‘It’s an awkward situation, but we have a lot invested in him.’” Ten women have come forward accusing Filner of the abuse.

In fact, Filner’s been doing this type of thing for 20 years. But as long as he towed the liberal line and the sexual abuse was not publically known, he was a flawed but good soldier for the cause.

Bill Clinton had sex with an impressionable and vulnerable young woman who was serving as a White House intern. Then there were the charges of rape by Juanita Broaddrick: “Michael Isikoff’s book, Uncovering Clinton, and Christopher Hitchens’ book, No One Left to Lie To, argued that Broaddrick’s claim is credible and shows similarities to Paula Jones’ later allegation of sexual harassment.

Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen commented, ‘And yet, I cannot get [Broaddrick’s] accusation out of my head. On television, and in interviews with newspaper reporters, Broaddrick appeared credible.’” It didn’t matter. Clinton supported the liberal sacrament of abortion.

The sex charges made him beholden to feminist groups. Then there was Democrat Ted Kennedy of Chappaquiddick infamy. The Democrats played a tribute to the womanizer, putting aside his war on women actions.

Former Kennedy speechwriter and campaign operative Bob Shrum described Kennedy, that “over a very long period of time,” as “a liberal lion, entirely principled, . . . could actually get things done.” A “long period of time” is right.

The Chappaquiddick story is so well known that the words “Ted Kennedy” and “Chappaquiddick” are inseparably linked for all time. But there are many people who don’t know the story.

Kennedy was most likely driving under the influence of alcohol on the evening of July 18, 1969, when he drove his car off Dike Bridge and into Poucha Pond, leaving Mary Jo Kopechne, a young campaign worker, to drown.

To add to the tragedy, Kennedy left the scene of the accident and did not report it to the police until 9:45 the next morning. Kennedy hoped to contrive a story that would put Kopechne in the driver’s seat and absolve him of criminal neglect for driving too fast for conditions and under the influence.

Fortunately, no one would go along with this particular lie, although there was still a massive cover-up by the Kennedy political machine to protect the powerful Senator and their own dependent jobs.

The Kennedy operatives whisked the other “Boiler Room girls” — who had been with Kennedy and Kopechne at the Lawrence Cottage, where the party was held — off the island and removed any evidence that the senator had been drinking. In addition, the fact of Kennedy’s expired driver’s license disappeared from the Massachusetts motor vehicle office.

Chuck Moss, a journalist for the Detroit News, gets it right in his review of Leo Damore’s Senatorial Privilege: The Chappaquiddick Cover-Up. Damore’s book “reveals the arrogance, the power and the corruption that permitted him to simply walk away into the future, where he can address a nationally televised Democratic convention [in 1988] — on the subject of public morals.”[1] Let’s not forget John Edwards.

In 2011, Edwards was indicted by a North Carolina grand jury on six felony charges of violating multiple federal campaign contribution laws to cover up an extramarital affair that he admitted having that resulted in the birth of a child.

The media kept the information under wraps like they did for John and Robert Kennedy. And let’s not forget Anthony Weiner who still has high level support among young women voters because he votes the right way. So the next time some Democrat brings up the war on women narrative, just say all three Kennedys, Bill Clinton, John Edwards, Anthony Weiner, and Robert Filner.

Say it over and over again until they start stuttering, try to change the subject, go silent, or walk away. None of this is to say that Republicans are immune from sexual peccadilloes, adultery, and general sexual inversion. In most cases, however, the voters reject them and do not lionize them as the Democrats have done with the Kennedys and Bill Clinton.

Republicans have had their sexual scoundrels. Newt Gingrich, Eliot Spitzer, and Mark Sanford come to mind. But for the most part, Republicans haven’t lionized them. I am mystified, however, how Sanford got reelected and garnered the support of a number of conservative Republicans.

Pornography publishers had the best line: “[Sanford’s] open embrace of his mistress in the name of love, breaking his sacred marriage vows, was an act of bravery that has drawn my support.”

November 22,1963 The End Of Camelot

If you are old enough, you can recall this terrible day.

You can recall where you were, and what you were doing when you heard the news.
Like the greatest generation and Pearl Harbor, the memory is vivid in our minds.
I was nine years old at the time. I recall the teacher turning on the television to warm up. ( Yes, TVs then had tubes so they needed to warm up.)
Instead of our usual science program, there was a newscaster saying President Kennedy had been shot in Dallas, Texas. We were stunned and started to cry.
Then the announcement came that we were going home early.
The bus ride home was quiet except for our sobs.

When I got home my mother had the television on and we heard that President Kennedy had died. That added to the sorrow of that horrible day.

My younger brother was about five years old at that time.
He was a real fan of President Kennedy.
When ever he heard the President’s voice, he would run into the room to listen.
He was really heart-broken.
Over the next few days we watched the events unfold in Dallas.
A suspect was named and then arrested. It was Lee Harvey Oswald.
Then we saw Jack Ruby murder Oswald on television.
President Kennedy’s funeral was broadcast along with John-John‘s salute to his fallen father.
Like the Twin Towers being brought down, this event is forever in my memory.

3 of 9 Justices Will Turn 80 by 2016 Election

This is from CNSNews.

This means if Obama get reelected he will appoint 2-3 Justices to the High Court.

If that happens the Liberals will dominate the Supreme Court.

That will give the anti gunners a chance to strip away at the Second Amendment.

President Mitt Romney will mean Conservatives on the Supreme Court.

Supreme Court – Three of the nine justices on a U.S. Supreme Court that has decided many significant issues by 5-4 votes over the past decade will turn 80 years of age before the 2016 presidential election.

The three justices are Antonin Scalia, an anchor of the court’s conservative wing, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, an anchor of the court’s liberal wing, and Anthony Kennedy, who is often the decisive swing vote in 5-4 opinions.

Life expectancy at birth in the United States is now 76.3 years for males and 81.1 years for females, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. However, a male who had already reached the age of 75 in 2011 has a life expectancy of another 11.0 years, according to the CDC, while a female who had reached 75 had a life expectancy of another 12.9 years.

Over past ten years, the nine-member court has decided numerous major issues by a margin of one vote.

In its 2002 opinion in Zelman v. Simmons-Harris, for example, the court voted 5-4 that a school-choice program in Ohio that allowed students to redeem tuition vouchers at private schools, including those with a religious affiliation, did not violate the First Amendment prohibition on Congress enacting laws “respecting an establishment of religion.”  Anthony Kennedy voted with the majority in this case.

In its 2003 opinion in Grutter v. Bollinger, the court voted 5-4 that it did not violate the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment for the University of Michigan Law School to consider race as a factor in admitting students. Justice Ginsburg voted with the majority in this case.

In its 2005 opinion in McCreary County v. ACLU, the court voted 5-4 that counties in Kentucky could not display the Ten Commandments in court houses and public schools because it violated the First Amendment prohibition on Congress passing laws “respecting an establishment of religion.” Justice Ginsburg voted with the majority in this case.

In its 2005 opinion in Kelo v. New London, the court voted 5-4 that a city in Connecticut could take property away from one private owner and give it to another private owner in hopes of increasing the city’s tax revenues and that this did not violate the 5th Amendment which says government can take private property only for a “public use.” Justices Kennedy and Ginsburg bothe voted in the majority in this case.

In the 2006 opinion in Gonzalez v. Carhart, the court voted 5-4 that Congress could prohibit partial-birth abortion. Justice Kennedy voted with the majority in this case.

In its 2007 opinion in District of Columbia v. Heller, the court voted 5-4 that individuals have a Second Amendment right to own guns even if they are not in a militia and that this right was violated by a D.C. law that prohibited a person from registering a handgun, or even having a gun in their home unless it was unloaded and triggerlocked. Justice Kennedy voted with the majority in this case.

In its 2010 opinion in Citizens United v. FEC, the court voted 5-4 that corporations have a First Amendment right to freedom of speech, including the right to mention the name of person who is a candidate for federal office. Justice Kennedy wrote the majority opinion in this case.

This year, in its opinion on the cases challenging the Obamacare law, the court voted 5-4 that the federal government could force individuals to buy health insurance. Justice Ginsburg voted with the 5-member majority on that issue.

Democrats on Benghazi and Cuba–“Same as it Ever Was”

This is from Town Hall.

In spite of  his military service John Kennedy was not presidential material.

If you look closely at Kennedy’s war record he was not a good leader.

It was Kennedy’s lack of judgement that was to blame for PT 109 being sunk.

It was Joe Kennedy’s connections that kept John from being court martialed.

John used his so-called bravery saving his crew helped elect him president.

Barack Obama is even more of a novice than John Kennedy.

“I said we’d refocus on the people who actually attacked us on 9/11—and today, al-Qaeda is on the run and Osama bin Laden is dead.” (U.S. President Barack Obama, October 11, 2012.)

“Let’s be clear, these protests (in Benghazi) were in reaction to a video that had spread around the region. We have no information to suggest that it was a preplanned attack.” (White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, September 14, 2012)

Let’s fast-reverse almost exactly fifty years:

(These missiles are) “nothing but refugee rumors. Nothing in Cuba presents a threat to the United States. There’s no likelihood that the Soviets or Cubans would try and install an offensive capability in Cuba.” (a sneering National Security Advisor, McGeorge Bundy, on ABC’s Issues and Answers, October 14, 1962.)

“There’s fifty-odd-thousand Cuban refugees in this country, all living for the day when we go to war with Cuba. They’re the ones putting out this kind of stuff (about missiles.)”( a sneering President John F. Kennedy, Oct. 15th 1962.)

For months prior to Bundy and Kennedy’s scoffing against the Cuban missile-mongers, dozens of Cuban exiles had been risking their lives by infiltrating Cuba and bringing out eyewitness reports of what remains the biggest military threat to the U.S. in its history. In the process, some of these Cuban boys were also dying by firing squad and torture at the hands of Castro and Che Guevara’s KGB-tutored secret police.

Exactly 24 hours after President Kennedy’s sneer against these Cuban exiles, U-2 photos sat on his desk showing those “refugee rumors,” pointed directly at Bundy, JFK, and their entire staff of Ivy League wizards.

The Obama Administration’s stupidity (and/or cover-up) regarding the Benghazi attack was exposed almost immediately. But how many of you were aware of the above “insights” by Kennedy and his “Best and Brightest?”

Thought so. And the reason is not far to seek. In 1962 we relied almost exclusively on the mainstream media. It sounds impossible, but John F. Kennedy was served by media toadies every bit as obsequious as those slobbering over Obama today. This collusion created a “slobbering love affair” and elevated political charade to a level Obama and his staffers can only envision in their sweetest dreams. This racket was made possible, of course, because no alternative media then existed.

The alternative media dug up and exposed much chumminess by “reporters“Monica Crowley and Martha Raddatz with Obama. But in their day “reporters” Sander Vanocur, James Reston and Ben Bradlee boasted openly about much closer chumminess with President Kennedy. And nobody batted an eye.

“The Ugly American –the bully and boor–has it coming,” seems another constant in the Democratic world-view. To wit:

“It is an extremely offensive video directed at Mohammed and Islam. Extremists and terrorists used this as an excuse to attack a variety of our embassies, including the one — the consulate in Libya. (U.S. President Barack Obama Sept. 12, 2012)

“The unrest we’ve seen around the region has been in reaction to a video that Muslims, many Muslims find offensive.” (Jay Carney Sept. 12, 2012.)

Now let’s fast-reverse to an interview President John F. Kennedy gave French journalist Jean Daniel onOctober, 24th, 1963:

“I believe that there is no country in the world, including any and all the countries under colonial domination, where economic colonization, humiliation and exploitation were worse than in Cuba, in part owing to my country’s policies during the Batista regime…I will even go further: to some extent it is as though Batista was the incarnation of a number of sins on the part of the U.S. Now we shall have to pay for those sins.”

Kennedy was describing a nation with a higher per capita income than half of Europe, the lowest inflation rate in the Western Hemisphere, the 13th lowest infant-mortality on earth and a huge influx of immigrants. In 1953, more Cubans vacationed in the U.S., than Americans vacationed in Cuba. In 1959 U.S. investments in Cuba accounted for only 14 per cent the island’s GNP, and. U.S. owned companies employed only 7 per cent of Cuba’s workforce.

But no alternative media was around in 1963 to rub Kennedy’s face in the imbecilities he was spreading as gospel. Instead the Communist-hatched lies were accepted as truths by millions of Americans who the media monopoly of the time had rendered none the wiser.

And if the Obama/MSM deceptions (with a straight face) about “what he knew and when he knew” regarding Benghazi seem scandalous, consider the following:

18 months after he botched the Bay of Pigs invasion a guilt-stricken JFK ransomed the surviving Bay of Pigs freedom-fighters back from Castro’s dungeons. On Dec. 29, 1962, these Cuban freedom fighters, many on crutches others in wheelchairs, gathered with their destitute and traumatized families in Miami’s Orange Bowl to hear President Kennedy address them. “I am here today not to be honored—but to pay honor,” intoned the U.S. President. “I know of no men in modern history who showed more courage under more difficult conditions than those before me today.”

The president continued in this vein and upon completing his tribute the Cuban freedom-fighters handed him their sacred battle flag, a gesture which surprised and seemed to deeply move the U.S. president.

“I promise to deliver this Brigade banner to you in a free Havana!” he beamed at the freedom-fighters and their loved-ones.

The stadium erupted: “CUBA LIBRE!” yelled the delirious crowd while hugging and cheering and sobbing. “CUBA-LIBRE!” yelled men (and boys) who’d snickered in the face of KGB torturers weeks earlier, but now wept openly. The hour of liberation seemed nigh. “The Leader of the Free World,” after all, was promising it!

But two months earlier this same “Leader of the Free World” had made another promise, to the Butcher of Budapest:

“The United States of America gives assurances that there will be no invasion of Cuba, not only by the US but also by other countries of the Western Hemisphere. This is the essence of our agreement.”

Respectfully Yours, N. Khrushchev. Moscow, November 20, 1962.

Half a century later we know which promise Kennedy kept.

The Swimmer’ That Knowingly Let A Woman To Drown In His Car Is Glorified At DNC

This is from Freedom Outpost.

What a pack of losers the Democrat‘s are.

They honor this bloated drunken murdered Turd(Ted) Kennedy.

Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for a comment.

Then a keynote speaker sexual predator William Jefferson Blythe Clinton.

Then the slut advocating the taxpayers pay for her birth control Sandra fluke.

What a line up for the Democrat’s.

While the Democrat party continues its war on women with the likes of Sandra Fluke, Bill Clinton and a host of Vagina costumed protestors, it also did so by glorifying one of the most womanizing men in its history, Ted Kennedy. The following video was shown last night at the DNC convention in Charlotte. While the video documents the life of Ted Kennedy, obviously skipping his womanizing and the life of a drunkard he lived, it also leaves out a significant event in his life.

That event was the result of driving drunk and going off a bridge. In the accident Mary Jo Kopechne was killed after Kennedy saved his own neck and left her inside to drown.

The Daily Mail reports,

Forever known as the Chappaquiddick Incident after the Massachusetts island where it took place, the scandal in 1969 broke the Kennedy grip on the White House.

A drunk Ted had been driving back from a party to the family ‘compound’ on Martha’s Vineyard when he veered off a bridge and into a deep tidal dyke.
Drowned: Mary Jo Kopechne was killed after Ted Kennedy drove his car off a bridge with her inside

Drowned: Mary Jo Kopechne was killed after Ted Kennedy drove his car off a bridge with her inside

Mary Jo was in the back seat and, while he claimed he was just giving her a lift back to her hotel, it was widely thought that he had picked her up for sex. Kennedy swam ashore to save himself, but left Mary Jo to drown – in fact, it was even worse than that.

It was nine hours before he reported the accident. In the meantime, he walked back to his motel, complained to the manager about a noisy party, took a shower, went to sleep, ordered newspapers when he woke up and spoke to a friend and two lawyers before finally calling the police.

Divers later estimated that if he had called them immediately, they would have had time to pull out Mary Jo. She had not drowned, but had survived in an air pocket inside the car – she was asphyxiated only when the oxygen ran out several hours later.

As always, Ted used the family name to save his neck. In any other state but Massachusetts, the Kennedys’ home turf, and with any other name, he would have been charged with homicide.

Instead, he escaped with a slap on the wrist: a two-year suspended sentence and the loss of his driving license for a year. He had been allowed to plead guilty to no more than the charge of leaving the scene of an accident.

The Democrat party has quickly become the party of death and deviancy and last night they demonstrated that by giving a tribute of a man that was known for both.

DNC Glorifies Senator Who Left a Woman to Drown in His Car

This is from Town Hall.

Turd(Ted) Kennedy should have paid a for the murder of Mary Jo Kopechne.

But he was a Kennedy so he was able to get by with a smack on the wrist.

Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment on the Turd(Ted) Kennedy honors.

Rapist  and violent sexual predator William Jefferson Clinton is a keynote speaker.

If you’re going to wage a “war on women,” there’s no better way to do it than glorifying a guy who left a woman to drown in his car while he escaped to dry ground. The video below was shown tonight at the DNC convention in Charlotte. It documents Ted Kennedy’s life, but for some reason skipped the time when he drove drunk off of a bridge and left Mary Jo Kopechne (who was on his side and worked for him as a young campaign assistant!) to die in his car, better known as the Chappaquiddick incident. The video also skips the part when Kennedy failed to tell police of the incident until nine hours after it happened.

Bill Clinton, who has been accused of rape and various sexual assaults by multiple women, is slated to speak tomorrow.

JFK Demythologized

The article below is from American Thinker.
It is about time the Kennedy myth gets busted.
Joe Kennedy Sr. was a rum running Nazi sympathizer.
Robert like John could not keep his pants zipped.
Robert put the make on Jackie after John was killed.
Last but not lest Ted was a booze soak murderer.

Forty eight years after communist loving, Castro sympathizing Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated President John F. Kennedy (D), Ross Douthat examines “The Enduring Cult of Kennedy” in Sunday’s New York Times, turning the dreams of the aging 60s generations into nightmares.
The first premise is that Kennedy was a very good president, and might have been a great one if he’d lived. Few serious historians take this view: It belongs to Camelot’s surviving court stenographers, and to popularizers like Chris Matthews,
Wow!  Heads are exploding already.
In reality, the kindest interpretation of Kennedy’s presidency is that he was a mediocrity whose death left his final grade as “incomplete.” The harsher view would deem him a near disaster — ineffective in domestic policy, evasive on civil rights and a serial blunderer in foreign policy, who barely avoided a nuclear war that his own brinksmanship had pushed us toward. (And the latter judgment doesn’t even take account of the medical problems that arguably made him unfit for the presidency, or the adulteries that eclipsed Bill Clinton’s for sheer recklessness.)
The second false premise is that Kennedy would have kept us out of Vietnam. (snip) Actually, it would be more accurate to describe the Vietnam War as Kennedy’s darkest legacy. His Churchillian rhetoric (“pay any price, bear any burden …”) provided the war’s rhetorical frame as surely as George W. Bush’s post-9/11 speeches did for our intervention in Iraq. His slow-motion military escalation established the strategic template that Lyndon Johnson followed so disastrously. And the war’s architects were all Kennedy people: It was the Whiz Kids’ mix of messianism and technocratic confidence, not Oswald’s fatal bullet, that sent so many Americans to die in Indochina.
Had Kennedy lived would he have changed course, changed tactics in Vietnam?  Again speculation is fruitless; we can only work with the record as it is and it is mixed at best.  But Kennedy was stronger on self defense than liberals care to acknowledge
The third myth is that Kennedy was a martyr to right-wing unreason. Writing on J.F.K. in the latest issue of New York magazine, Frank Rich half-acknowledges the mediocrity of Kennedy’s presidency. But he cannot resist joining a generation of liberals in drawing a connection between the right-wing “atmosphere of hate” in early-1960s Dallas and the assassination itself — and then linking both to today’s anti-Obama zeal.
This connection is the purest fantasy, made particularly ridiculous by the fact that both Rich and King acknowledge that Oswald was a leftist — a pro-Castro agitator whose other assassination target was the far-right segregationist Edwin Walker. The idea that an atmosphere of right-wing hate somehow inspired a Marxist radical to murder a famously hawkish cold war president is even more implausible than the widespread suggestion that the schizophrenic Jared Lee Loughner shot his congresswoman because Sarah Palin put some targets on an online political map.
Again, the same parallels between our contemporary mythic president so beloved by the liberals and the mainstream media is important as Douthat summarizes
[T]he J.F.K. cult matters — because its myths still shape how we interpret politics today. We confuse charisma with competence, rhetoric with results, celebrity with genuine achievement. We find convenient scapegoats for national tragedies, and let our personal icons escape the blame. And we imagine that the worst evils can be blamed exclusively on subterranean demons, rather than on the follies that often flow from fine words and high ideals.
Kennedy’s martyred aura benefited his entire family, still referred to by some–who should know better–as American royalty; they breezed into office on the basis of the Kennedy name–or connections to it–and of course Kennedy money.  (Much of it carefully tucked away in tax free havens.)  The late Massachusetts senator, Ted Kennedy (D) bribed and cheated his way into and through law school; he was elected, and re elected and re elected senator until his death.   But the Kennedy cult carried him on with no real examination of his record, minimizing at best his misdeeds.
But there are some differences–those who oppose President Barack Hussein Obama are called racists;  at least in the comments section Douthat isn’t called anti Irish, anti Catholic.  Yet.

If you are old enough you can recall this terrible day.
You can recall where you were, and what you were doing when you heard the news.
Like the greatest generation and Pearl Harbor, the memory is vivid in our minds.
I was nine years old at the time. I recall the teacher turning on the television to warm up. ( Yes TVs then had tubes so they needed to warm up.)
