Bloomberg Debuts New Gun Control Propaganda Site, The Trace

This is from Bearing Arms.

Nanny Bloomberg the man that has more money than brains.

Not willing to accept the continuing failure of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Moms Demand Action, and Everytown to stem the tide of gun rights laws expanding across most of the nation, Michael Bloomberg has announced the launch of yet another gun control initiative,a Think Progress/Media Matters inspired propaganda site called “The Trace.”

The launch of another news site by Bloomberg, the former New York mayor, head of the Bloomberg news operation, and funder of several anti-gun sites including Mayors Against Illegal Guns, comes as President Obama and Democrats are trying to revive their gun control agenda. Last week, legislation was proposed, for example, to require a police-issued license prior to buying a handgun.

The Trace is headed by former New Republic story editor James Burnett. He didn’t respond to an email question about the project, one sign of the secrecy around it. His Twitter account describes him as “editorial director, a site to be named later.” But his Twitter handle gives it away: “TraceBurnett.”

And a reporter working a story for the website described herself as “a freelance writer for The Trace, a soon-to-be-launched online news magazine about guns and gun rights.”

In the only story about The Trace, New York’s “Capital” said the site will be the editorial arm of Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety. The group draws attention to gun violence, builds protests against organizations and companies that don’t ban guns in stores, and promotes background checks.

I can’t help but laugh at Bloomberg’s hires, which once again seem to be based upon ideology, instead of competence.

In hiring Burnett, Bloomberg has latched on to an editor from a failing left-wing magazine with with no credible knowledge of firearms.

His sole reporter, Jennifer Mascia, is the daughter of a low-level mobster who edited an ineffectual and short-lived anti-gun project for the New York Times.

One has to wonder if the clueless Bloomberg is aware that “the trace” is also a term describing the visible trail of the bullet created by the shockwave of the bullet passing through the air, causing water vapor to momentarily condense. Skilled shooters and spotters use the trace as a tool to help put rounds on target.

We’re fairly certain that the clueless Bloomberg minions are going to continue their past mistakes and miss the mark… yet again.

Bloomberg Creates Everytown “News” Arm

This is from Gun News.

It sounds to me like Nanny Bloomberg wants to become the Joseph Goebbels of the Obama Anti-Gun Media.

Bloomberg, the maniacal former mayor of New York City, has announced the creation of a “news” arm of his anti-gun group, Everytown for Gun Safety. As you may remember, Everytown is the latest incarnation of the Mayor’s Against Illegal Guns group that suffered irreparable damage when the criminal pasts of its members came to light.

The announcement coincides with the “journalism” seminar that Bloomberg is co-hosting with the Columbia School of Journalism in Arizona later this month. The seminar is reportedly to help select journalists to be better educated and more ethical when reporting on guns. I’m having a tough time accepting that this seminar will do either of these things.

What I think is happening is that Bloomberg is holding this event as a recruitment seminar as he and the editors of this “news” arm look for writers to fill their website with anti-gun, anti-Bill of Rights articles.

The man running the propaganda wing of Everytown will be none other than James Burnett, ultra-left-wing, anti-gun former editor from New Republic. He, along with several other employees, resigned from New Republic when the new owner decided to go in a different direction.

Another liberal, this one from the New York Times, will also be joining the crew. Jennifer Mascia will be the news and editorial assistant.

The bottom line is that Bloomberg is gearing up for a big plan of disinformation and bogus statistics, all with the intention of confusing a gullible public into thinking that the country will be safer when only the police have guns.

Bloomberg isn’t the only liberal who wants to control how news and information is disseminated. President Obama has recently called for a change in how the media reports stories. Speaking at Georgetown University, Obama said,

“We’re going to have to change how our body politic thinks, which means we’re going to have to change how the media reports on these issues and how people’s impressions of what it’s like to struggle in this economy looks like, and how budgets connect to that. And that’s a hard process because that requires a much broader conversation than typically we have on the nightly news.”

The truth is that it isn’t any of his business how the media reports the news. This goes for whether it’s CNN or FOX. No one in the government should ever be involved with how the news is written, reported, or shown. That is the purpose of the First Amendment. The politicians govern at our pleasure, and the media reports it how they see it.

The only problem that we really have now in the media is credibility, such as people like Brian Williams lying to the American public about his experiences and then expecting to be believed when he reports the news. George Stephanopoulos is another example of a person with an ulterior motive. He worked for years for Bill and Hillary Clinton and now is working for ABC as a nightly anchor, pretending to be unbiased. Now, his donation of $50,000 to the Clinton Foundation has come to light, showing exactly where his loyalties lie.

I am not a journalist, nor do I claim to be one. I have never claimed to be unbiased. In fact, I’m very biased. What I write are opinion pieces based on current events. That’s the difference between me and liberal writers.

Liberal writers, like those who will be working for Bloomberg, claim to be writing unbiased, neutral pieces that simply lay out the facts. The problem is that they are manipulating the facts in order to deceive the public. They also use the term “unbiased” in an attempt to gain the trust of the public.

I’m not interested in the public’s trust. My challenge to all my readers is simple: Read my articles and then do the research and see if you agree with me or not. If you agree with me, great. If you disagree with me, that’s fine too. I’m not unbiased — I’m a fervent supporter of the Second Amendment, and I don’t hide that.

Bloomberg’s news arm will invariably write articles that are anti-Second Amendment but cloaked in the public safety mantra. They will never just come out and say how they really feel. They will never just say, “Look, guns are evil. Guns kill people. I hate guns, and the Second Amendment needs to be abolished and all the guns collected.”

Hell, I’d at least respect them for being honest. Stupid, but honest. Instead, they will skirt around the issue, attempting to build consensus within the uneducated populace.

I can see it now.

“We all want our children to be safe, don’t we? Then why in the world would you want your child in a school where any untrained, gun zealot can carry without any rules? Isn’t this putting your child’s life at risk? Why do you need a military style rifle? Nobody uses those for hunting. Our founding fathers never intended people to own machine guns. The Second Amendment was written to protect hunters.”

The list goes on and on. All lies.

As we get closer to the presidential election cycle (if we aren’t already in it — who can tell anymore?) the anti-gun rhetoric will increase. Bloomberg’s group will be poised to flood the market with lies, misinformation, made up statistics, and anything else they can think of to get another liberal idiot in the White House.

GUN RIGHTS A MAJOR HURDLE FOR CURTIS IN MONTANA

This is from WatchDog.org.

Amanda’s past record is following her and will hurt her come election day.

Montana’s Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, hoping to keep the Big Sky blue, is taking heat for her stance on gun rights.  Amanda Curtis of Butte was recently nominated to replace John Walsh on the November ballot.

Despite her counterclaims, Amanda Curtis is no moderate when it comes to guns.  In 2013 she participated in a rally sponsored by former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg’s group Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

The Montana Shooting Sports Association released a statement last week to address Curtis’s record in the state House:

MSSA tracked 24 gun-related votes cast by Curtis in the Montana House last session.  Curtis voted anti-gun on 23 of 24 opportunities.  For that, she scored a miserable 2.6%.  A 59% score would have earned her an “F” on gun issues.  She is well below F-, if there is such a thing.

Curtis  voted:

NO on a bill to encourage manufacturers to move to Montana and create new jobs if those manufacturers make firearms (HR5).

NO on two bills to protect hunters’ hearing by allowing sound reduction for hunting (HB205 & HB27).

NO on a bill to prohibit the university system from suspending the Montana Constitution (HB240).

NO on a bill to allow investigators working for public defenders to carry firearms for self defense (SB133).

NO on a bill to exempt from criminal “disorderly conduct” charges a hunter who fires a shot at a deer or elk (even the Governor disagreed with her on this bill) (HB446).

NO on a bill to allow people located inside city limits the same ability for self defense as those outside city limits (HB304).

NO on a bill to allow a person eating at a restaurant that serves beer to provide for his or her self defense (HB358).

NO to medical privacy for gun owners (even the Governor disagreed with her on this bill) (HB459).

NO to preventing newspapers from publishing the private information about people who have been issued a concealed weapon permit by the local sheriff (the Governor disagreed with her on this bill too) (SB145).

Curtis is virulently anti-gun.  Her claim to support the right to keep and bear arms sounds like the beginning of another Walsh thesis.

In a state where firearms are frequently used as prizes in political fundraising raffles, just being  moderate on gun rights can present be a substantial obstacle to election.

Earlier this week The Blaze posted an infographic found on Reddit which illustrates a ranking from city-data.com of counties with the highest percentage of “residents that keep firearms around their homes”.

While not a scientific poll, that ranking places Yellowstone County at number fourteen on a list of the top thirty counties nationwide.  This issue alone could spell defeat for Curtis.

Mayors Against Illegal Guns Mayor Charged with Bribery

Latest member of Bloomberg-backed group to have legal troubles

Monticello, New York, Democratic Mayor Gordon Jenkins—a member of Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns—was arrested Thursday on bribery charges, the latest in a long string of legal and ethical foibles by Jenkins.

Mayors Against Illegal Guns is one of several Bloomberg-backed entities dedicated to limiting gun rights. Bloomberg has pledged to spend $50 million this year to build a “grassroots” network of activists supporting his cause, according to the New York Times. Jenkins is one of many members of Mayors Against Illegal Guns to partake in illegal activity.

Jenkins and Monticello Building Inspector James Snowden were arrested late last week, according the Daily Freeman. The charges included “bribe receiving” and “endangering the public health”; the mayor “was also charged with intimidating a witness, a felony, in connection with an incident in Fallsburg.”

This is not the first time the embattled mayor has gotten in trouble with the law since joining Bloomberg’s group. CBS New York reported in 2013 that he had been arrested for driving while intoxicated. Jenkins has come under fire in his hometown and was described as “not competent” by Monticello Village Manager Raymond Nargizian.

“These people are a serious part of the problem; they are not part of the solution,” Nargizian said of Jenkins and another Monticello official in comments given to the Mid Hudson News on Saturday. He also said Jenkins should step down.

Jenkins is one of a number of mayors to engage in illegal activities while serving as a member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns. As the Washington Free Beacon has previously reported:

Spring Valley, N.Y., Mayor Noramie Jasmin (D.) was arrested in April for allegedly accepting bribes from an FBI informant. In March, Gainesville, Fla., Mayor Craig Lowe was charged with a DUI after police found him asleep at the scene of a car accident.

Marcus Hook, Pa., Mayor James Schiliro was arrested for reckless endangerment after allegedly firing a handgun inside his home during a drunken argument with a 20-year-old man.

Other current and former MAIG members have been charged with felony corruptionassault of a police officer, and child sex crimes.

Media Promotes Bloomberg Propaganda

This is from Buckeye Firearms Association.

I can remember when the media pretended to be impartial.

Now the propaganda they spread today would make Hitlers Propaganda Joseph Goebbels proud.

A free press is a good thing for America to have. A free press that doesn’t parrot and exaggerate anti-gun propaganda would be even better. For example, take Natalie DiBlasio’s article for USA Today on Wednesday [June 25], titled “More kids die in shootings than statistics show.”

For starters, the title doesn’t even accurately reflect the article’s content. The article concerns the claim by Michael Bloomberg’s gun-control group “Everytown” that some firearm accident deaths among children are mistakenly classified as homicides by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Contrary to the article’s title, Everytown doesn’t claim that the CDC undercounts firearm-related deaths among children in general.

The article’s title is wrong for another reason. firearm-related deaths among children, which include ages 0-14, decreased dramatically between 1981 and 2011, the earliest and most recent years of data reported by the CDC.  The corollary to Everytown’s accusation that the CDC misclassifies some firearm accident deaths as homicides and thus undercounts accidents, is that CDC over-counts homicides.

Setting aside Everytown’s accusations, when homicides and fatal accidents among children are combined, the per capita rate decreased 57 percent between 1981 and 2011. Clearly, both homicides and fatal accidents have decreased, the question remaining being “by how much, exactly?” Statistical accuracy is not Everytown’s motivation, however.

The reason that Everytown claims that accidents are more common than previously thought is to promote several initiatives that it claims would reduce firearm accidents.  The real goal of these measures, however, is to reduce firearm ownership by restricting the manufacture of firearms and by frightening people into not wanting to have guns within their homes in the first place.

In Everytown’s vision, the latter goal would be achieved largely by congressional funding of “research” purporting to validate by scientific methods, the benefits of gun control and the dangers of gun ownership. This would be accompanied by a public relations campaign designed to convince people that, all things considered, guns cause more problems than they could ever possibly prevent.

Restricting firearms manufacture: Everytown’s report recommends, “Congress should earmark funding for the Consumer Product Safety Commission to evaluate and set standards for emerging technologies that promote gun safety. . . .” Whatever may be said for technology, however, there’s nothing “emerging” about what Everytown has in mind with this recommendation.

Gun control supporters have long wanted the Consumer Products Safety Commission empowered to set standards for the manufacturing of firearms. The goal, of course, is to set standards so high that no manufacturer could achieve them, certainly not at a price that many Americans could afford.  Frightening people into not having guns at home: Everytown continues, “States should adopt stronger laws to prevent children from accessing unsecured guns,” even though states generally already have laws against reckless endangerment and negligence.

As NRA-ILA has noted, training — not stronger “access” laws — has contributed to the dramatic reduction in firearm accidents over the last generation. Everytown also claims, “Doctors should be allowed and encouraged to promote gun safety,” knowing that gun control supporters in the public health field encourage doctors to pressure their patients not to keep firearms at home.

Anti-gun research: Everytown says “Congress should increase funding for public health research on children injured and killed in unintentional shootings.” But such research would likely be conducted by the same anti-gun researchers whose gun control-promoting “studies” caused Congress to prohibit the CDC from using taxpayer funds for such purposes in the 1990s. Last year, President Obama urged Congress to provide $10 million for “gun violence” research, and the Institute of Medicine held a conference to identify topics to be studied.

The researchers attending the conference were mostly the same people whose work Congress previously deemed a waste of the public’s money.  Had DiBlasio done her homework, she would have learned that Everytown didn’t even come up with its self-described “analysis” of firearm-related deaths among children.

In September 2013, the New York Times claimed that its “review of hundreds of child firearm deaths found that accidental shootings occurred roughly twice as often as the records indicate, because of idiosyncrasies in how such deaths are classified by the authorities.” DiBlasio also would have discovered that Everytown spokesman John Feinblatt was wrong in claiming, “The NRA has successfully lobbied against any funding for the Centers for Disease Control to decide how they categorize deaths.”

The CDC classifies deaths of any and all sorts according to the World Health Organization’s International Classification of Diseases.  Bloomberg is currently in the process of rebranding his anti-gun operations. “Everytown” now refers to his original anti-gun group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, combined with his more recent group, Moms Demand Action (whichbegan as One Million Moms for Gun Control). But no amount of shape-shifting can change the statistics to show anything other than a dramatic reduction in firearm-related deaths among children over the last 20 years.

Georgia Mayor’s Response to Mayors Against Illegal Guns is PRICELESS

This is from Guns Save Lives.

I close to chocking on my Gatorade after reading this.

According to a local report, the mayor of Forest Park, GA, David Lockhart, received a communication from Mayors Against Illegal Guns asking him to join their organization.

Dear Mayor Lockhart,

I recently invited you to join Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a national bipartisan coalition of mayors from across the country representing more than 68 million Americans to reduce gun violence. I wanted to follow up to ensure that you saw our letter. A member of my team will be in contact with your staff to inquire about whether you plan to join our fast growing coalition of mayors. Additional information on the coalition and instructions for joining are contained in the letter below. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to email me at mayors@maig.org.

Lockhart didn’t just tell them no, he told them Hell No, and gave them the reasons why in the following communication.

I do not support your efforts. I oppose efforts to require private sellers with minimal sales (non-dealers) to perform background checks. I am proud that gun shows are regularly conducted in Forest Park.

If you really want to reduce illegal gun sales, perhaps your energy would be better focused in petitioning the BATF to end its illegal gunwalking. Because of Operation Fast and Furious, Brian Terry was murdered with a weapon sold by our own government.

Your organization claims that the goal is “protecting the rights of Americans to own guns, while fighting to keep criminals from possessing guns illegally,” yet none of your “Coalition Principles” further any such protections. One of the principles is to “keep lethal, military style weapons off our streets.” First, I am awestruck that you would focus on “lethal guns.” It seems that guns’ lethality is the point of their design.

That you believe a gun’s “military style” makes it more lethal is asinine, and however you would define such style does not make guns so designed illegal. Your stated goals–protecting legal ownership and eliminating criminals from illegally possessing guns–are belied by your specific objectives. What you propose would convert what is currently legal possession into criminal behavior. You may have fooled other mayors, and you may have other fools who agree with your actual objectives, but you haven’t fooled me.

That your organization was founded by Michael Bloomberg, who criminalized the sale of sodas of a certain size, is telling. It is impossible to believe such a man is really concerned with the protections afforded by our Constitution.

Boom.

Build Gun Shops as Sanctuaries Against Gun Violence

This is from Godfather Politics.

This idea could not make Chicago any worse crime wise.

Imagine you are speaking to a friend. He claims his kids are straight ‘A’ students. The reason they are is that he has developed a system that guarantees better grades. No matter what the situation, he can better anyone’s grades.

Your logical reaction to such a claim is, “show me the proof.” Don’t just throw out these wild claims. Show me what your children’s grades were prior and what they are now. Then show me that it was your system that caused the positive change.

It seems reasonable for him to have to prove his system is a success, is it not? You wouldn’t just sign your children on without some proof, would you?

So why is it that we don’t view gun control in the same way? There is not a shred of evidence that disarming citizens makes us safer, yet the left has been clamoring to do just that.

There are organizations like Demand Action.org, whose slogan is Demand Action to End Gun Violence.”

They want us all to “Join more than 1,000 mayors and over 1.5 million grassroots supporters to demand that Congress take action to end gun violence.”

There are self-righteous actors and actresses who cry and plead for us to “Demand a Plan” to end gun violence, many starring in action movies that kill more in the span of the movie than have been killed in all American mass shootings nationwide.  Many also have their own armed security.

Yet interestingly, none of these nimrods is “Demanding a Plan” for a city like Chicago where 80% of those murdered are black and 83% of all murders are committed with a gun.

According to new crime statistics released by the Federal Bureau of InvestigationChicago has become America’s murder capital. There were 500 murders in Chicago last year (2012), the FBI said, surpassing New York City, which had 419. However, the Chicago Police have disputed that figure of 500. They claim it was more like between 506 and 532. Stupid FBI. The Feds can’t get anything right.

Yet Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel signed the petition Mayors Against Illegal Guns. How is it possible that Chicago has become murder-central? Didn’t the murderers get the memo that the mayor signed the petition? You mean that wasn’t good enough?

In September IBD reported that “Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy, an avid gun-control advocate and opponent of Illinois’ concealed carry law, held another of what has become a series of press conferences displaying guns seized by Chicago cops — some 5,095 in the first 37 weeks of 2013 — along with a lecture on crime and gun control. But he inadvertently found common ground with Second Amendment defenders when he noted that while guns are being seized, the gun criminals are often allowed to go free.”

“We seize nine guns for everyone that the NYPD seizes,” McCarthy said. “That’s not success that we’re talking about,” he added. “We’re talking about the fact that they shouldn’t be here in the first place and when we arrest those people — they don’t go to jail.”

Yet, to these leftist idiots, the guns are the problem.

Not a single gun shop or gun range can be found in Chicago because they are outlawed. Handguns were banned in Chicago for decades, until 2010, when the United States Supreme Court ruled that the city had gone too far, leading city leaders to settle for restrictions some describe as the closest they could get legally to a ban without a ban. Despite a continuing legal fight, Illinois remains the only state in the nation with no provision to let private citizens carry guns in public.

A gun shop has more firepower per square foot than anywhere, short of a military armory. Ever wonder why we never here of anyone robbing a gun store? Me either. Therefore logic would dictate that a gun shop is one of the safest places in America, yet the left would have people believe more guns automatically equals more violence and more killing. And we gun owners are all a bunch of lunatic would-be killers.

So, as a gun-toting lunatic, I say we “Demand a Plan” to place a gun shop on every street corner in the city of Chicago. There is certainly more empirical data that my idea is more legitimate than banning guns. As an added benefit, anyone being threatened by a gun-toting lunatic can simply duck into the nearest gun shop and claim sanctuary.

Problem solved.

Mayors Against Illegal Guns Has Its Share Of ‘Illegal’ Mayors

This is from Personal Liberty Digest.

Bloomberg’s goon squad needs to clean up their act.

Before telling the rest of America how to live.

Mayors Against Illegal Guns Has Its Share Of ‘Illegal’ MayorsThe New York Post recently pointed out an interesting fact about Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), the gun control project started by outgoing New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino: Some of its members haven’t fared so well in staying on the right side of all the other laws they’re sworn, as mayors, to uphold.

From DUIs to misdemeanor endangermentcharges (involving guns) to plea deals Federalfor bribery indictments, the mayors of MAIG don’t always do their part to preserve the group’s squeaky-clean public reputation.

From the Post:

The latest of the legally challenged is Mayor Gordon Jenkins of Monticello, NY. Last week, he was arrested for driving under the influence and for literally punching a police department clock, which forced cops to handcuff him to a chair.

He’s not alone. Over in Spring Valley, Mayor Noramie Jasmin was arrested for accepting bribes from an FBI informant in April. In Marcus Hook, Pa., Mayor James Schiliro was arrested for reckless endangerment after firing a handgun inside his home during a drunken argument.

Down in Gainesville, Fla., Mayor Craig Lowe was charged with a DUI after being found asleep at the scene of a car accident. Meanwhile, other MAIG members from Hartford to Detroit have found themselves facing prosecutors over charges that include felony corruption, assault and attempted sex crimes with a child.

In order, those last three include:

Felony corruption: Former Hartford, Conn., Mayor Eddie A. Perez was convicted three years ago  of receiving a bribe, being an accessory to the fabrication of evidence, conspiracy to fabricate evidence, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny by extortion and criminal attempt to commit first-degree larceny by extortion.

Assault: Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick pleaded no contest to assaulting or obstructing a public officer in 2008 as part of a larger plea deal that also saw him resign from office and plead guilty to two counts of obstruction of justice.

Attempted Sex Crimes With A Child: In 2010, former Racine, Wis., Mayor Gary Becker gotthree years in prison following a sensational scandal in which he was arrested after agreeing on the Internet to meet a child for sex at a Milwaukee mall. Becker was charged with attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child under 16 years of age, possession of child pornography, child enticement, use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, attempt to expose a child to harmful material and misconduct in office.

PENNSYLVANIA TOWN GIVES ANTI-GUN MAYOR THE BOOT

Bravo Chambersberg for tossing anti gun DemocRat

Mayor.

We need to stand strong against Obama and his

stooge Micheal Loonberg.

Chambersburg, PA residents voted Mayor Pete Lagiovane (D) out of office on November 5th after he signed up to be part of former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg‘s Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG).

According to Salena Zito on RealClearPolitics.com, the anti-gun influence of Bloomberg made Chambersburg hunters and gun owners feel like they were under attack. And the combination of Bloomberg and “Washington [trying to regulate] gun ownership with more background checks” caused Chambersburg residents “to react in the only respectful way they know: [by voting] out of office those who are infringing on their way of life.”

Mayor-elect Darren Brown (R) says that once he is sworn into office in January 2014, “the very, very first thing [he’d] like to do is get Chambersburg off the [MAIG] list.”

According to Brown, “a mayor should focus on such issues as curbing crime and drugs, or keeping the sidewalks clean—not on the issues of outside groups that don’t understand a town’s way of life.”
