Wake up gun owners before you have no rights left.

[An egregious violation of personal privacy]

Apparently, liberals have a plan to bring an end to school shootings: Make disclosure of firearm ownership mandatory for all families enrolled in public education. According to the Missouri Torch:

A pre-filed bill in the Missouri Senate would require parents of public school students to report to the school if they own a gun.

Why don’t we just cut right to the chase, and write a law instructing would-be mass-shooters to report their intentions well ahead of time? Or, heck, we could just outlaw the act of killing innocent school children. And I’m sure criminals, owners of illegal weapons, and potentially dangerous sociopaths will be more than happy to follow along with such equally ridiculous legislation. Right?

More than being an egregious violation of personal privacy, the bill highlights the impotence of progressive “solutions” to violence conducted with firearms. Compulsory disclosure of gun ownership provides the authorities with such little actionable or useful information it is almost not worth mentioning.

Of course, in in places like New York, such disclosure of firearm ownership is actually aiding authorities. Without a public registry of firearm licenses, authorities in NYC would have a far more difficult time confiscating weapons from law-abiding gun owners who have accidently run afoul of newly enacted gun laws.

The Missouri proposal, however, does not call on parents to disclose the specific firearms they own… See, according to Liberals, all guns are evil – and all gun owners merit increased scrutiny and surveillance by authorities. (Wow… And you wonder why people with guns don’t like more gun laws… Weird.)

The Missouri Torch reported:

This act requires a parent or guardian to notify a school district, or the governing body of a private or charter school, that he or she owns a weapon within 30 days of enrolling the child in school or becoming the owner of a weapon. The written notification only needs to include the names of the parent and any child attending the school and the fact that the parent owns a weapon.

Naturally, the question arises: What the heck is this proposal actually supposed to accomplish? Aside from giving schools (read: government) a list of the county’s child-bearing gun owners, actionable intelligence (and almost any other kind of intelligence as well) is non-existent.

This is from The Blaze.

Karl Rove need to shut up and go away.

Karl Roves is not or ever has been Conservative.

Karl Rove and GOP Chairman Reince Priebus are the problem.

Their win and lose record is horrible.

We need to weed The Establishment Republicans out of the party.

Karl Rove isn’t taking too kindly to Sarah Palin’s criticism.

After the former Alaska governor took a not-so-veiled shot at establishment “experts who keep losing elections yet keep getting rehired” in her speech to conservative activists Saturday, Republican strategist Rove said Palin should agree with him in his quest to find more “electable” GOP candidates.

“First of all I live in Texas, I don’t live in Washington,” Rove said on “Fox News Sunday.” “Second of all, look — Sarah Palin should be agreeing with this. She didn’t support [Missouri Senate candidate] Todd Akin and when he said the reprehensible things he said, she wisely came out and said he should get out of the race.”

Rove, whose American Crossroads super PAC spent millions during the 2012 campaign yet achieved just one election night success, also dismissed Palin’s advice to either “buck up” or run himself — by bringing up her resigning the Alaska governorship.

“I appreciate her encouragement that I ought to go home to Texas and run for office. I would be enthused if I ran for office to have her support… I don’t think I’m a particularly good candidate, sort of a balding fat guy. Second of all, if I did run for office and win I would serve out my term and I wouldn’t leave office midterm,” Rove said, eliciting momentarily stunned silence from the rest of the Fox News panel.

Missouri Proposes Law Requiring Students’ Parents To Inform Schools About Their Guns

This is from Political Outcast.

I will tell our children’s principal because we home school.

We home school so I am the principal.

If they were in public school it is none of their business.

Even principals in the area are not on board with this scheme.

What does properly stored mean.

Just one more pregressive Communist idea.

Generally, conservatives understand that taking people’s rights away is not protecting them. Liberals however equate complete control with safety. If they can just know everything about everyone of us, where we live, how we raise our kids, what foods we eat, etc., they’d be able to keep us and everyone else safe.

A Missouri state senator has proposed a bill that would require parents to inform their children’s schools as to whether or not they own guns, and if so, where they are stored. Maria Chapelle-Nadal, a Democrat, thinks these parents should be held accountable if their firearms are not stored “properly.”

What is “proper storage?” Does that mean guns have to be completely disassembled and stored in a locked safe far from where the ammo is stored? Are they going to have to hire inspectors to come and search those homes whose owners have registered their guns with the school district? If the inspector sees something suspicious like a Bible, the Constitution or an American history book, will he have to say something to a mental health professional about possible mental illness?

Who knows? The bill isn’t law yet, but this is always the direction that the government goes. It wants complete control. If their goal is citizen disarmament, they’ll use anything to achieve that end. Federal legislation, police, military or now, schools.

Registering weapons with the school and even telling them how and where they are stored will not prevent a Newtown-style massacre. Going out on a limb and assuming for the sake of argument that the media narrative is correct regarding Newtown, Mrs. Lanza could have easily “registered” her guns with Newtown Elementary when Adam was allegedly a student there. She could have told them where and how they were stored in her house. But that wouldn’t have stopped someone or Adam himself from getting them and bringing them to the school.

Not everybody is on board with this bill. Not even some school principals in the area according to a local CBS affiliate:

“One St. Louis-area principal isn’t too thrilled about the idea. He says it may help police more than the school district. He also says the school could blame a parent for guns in their houses that they don’t even know about, with guns sneaked into the home by their kids.”

Liberals want complete control over people. They’ll sell it any way they can, but “safety” seems to be the preferred selling point.
