NYC: BLOOMBERG’S GUN CONTROL AND A ‘NEARLY’ 20 PERCENT INCREASE IN HOMICIDES

This is from Breitbarts Big Government.

The quote below describes liberals and their push for gun control.

Gun Control will never work.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.Albert Einstein, (attributed) US (German-born) physicist (1879 – 1955

New York City has Michael Bloomberg’s favorite gun control measure in place and is facing a crime epidemic that includes a “nearly” 20 percent increase in homicides.

When NYPD Officer Brian Moore was shot on May 2 with a stolen gun, Breitbart News reported that the strict gun controls in New York were no hindrance to criminals. Those controls–enacted in the January 2013 SAFE Act–include an “assault weapons” ban, a gun registration scheme, a “high capacity” magazine ban, and expanded background checks, among other things.

Although implemented by Governor Andrew Cuomo (D), parts of these controls read like Bloomberg-funded Everytown for Gun Safety Christmas wish list. Especially the expanded background checks, which Bloomberg-funded Moms Demand Action campaigned successfully to push in Washington State and which Everytown campaigned successfully to push in Oregon.

As for Bloomberg himself, On The Issues reported that he spent a portion of his second term as mayor suing gun dealers as a means to combat the actions of criminals in NYC:

Building on his first term, Bloomberg broadened his scope and once again thought big and bold. He sued out-of-state gun dealers, accusing them of illegally selling handguns that were later used to commit crimes in NYC. He did battle against weak federal gun laws, created a national coalition of mayors to fight illegal weapons -useful to raise awareness, although really effective gun control demands national legislation.

In August 2013, the New York Daily News reported that the desire for more gun control continued to characterize Bloomberg, as he registered his disgust with Senators who refused to pass gun control at the federal level and pledged to use his gun control groups to defeat said senators at the ballot box.

So, what has the non-stop push for gun control correlated with for the citizens of NYC? Currently, a spike in “violent crime”–reported by ABC News 7–and a near 20 percent increase in homicides. Yet Bloomberg’s gun control groups continue to tell politicians around the country that expanding background checks reduces crime.

White Mother-of-Two Shot Dead as She Flees Black Kidnapper Who Tried to Rape Her

This is from Joe For America.

Why was the black savage still on the streets?

I have a question for Little Andy Cuomo, Why did Ana Charle die?

I thought the Safe Act you rammed through in the dead of night would keep guns out of the hands of black savages like West Spruill. SNARK!

You may recall the story of Ana Charle, the white social worker killed and possibly raped by one of her former patients. Ana ran a facility for the homeless, and usually parked her car a couple blocks away. She was accosted by a former patient at this point, stripped naked, and possibly raped.

When she broke free from his imprisonment, naked and terrified, he allegedly shot her in the temple, cheek, and chest.

ana-charle1

After the attack, which took place in Bullard Avenue, in New York’s Bronx district, the gunman returned to her car, put his clothes back on and walked away.

Convicted murderer West Spruill, 39, who had lived at the shelter until January, was later arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

“They hear nothing but the shots,” a police official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a continuing investigation, said of the accounts provided by witnesses, several of whom had dialed 911.

“It is fairly close range,” he told the New York Times. “This is as bad a homicide as I’ve seen.”

Ms. Charle, who had bullet wounds to her temple, cheek and chest, was pronounced dead in hospital.

An autopsy is being carried out to determine whether she was raped.

Ms. Charle, from Barcelona in Spain, had two daughters, aged nine and 11.

Officials with the city’s Department of Homeless Services said Ms Charle had worked at New York non-profit homeless organisation Project Renewal for four years and was appointed director at the Bronx shelter in October 2013, about three months before it opened.

The tragic loss of her young life is devastating. To think how scared she must have been, running away naked from a terrifying, armed man is the stuff of nightmares. She had two young daughters who will never get to have their mother hold their children, to help them get ready for dates, or even to simply make them toast in the morning. The man who took her life deserves punishment for his heinous crimes. His actions will carry a heavy consequence both now and in the afterlife.

New York Gun Grabbers Got The SAFE Act – Now They Want More

This is from Freedom OutPost.

Will this be the tipping point for the people of New York or will they follow like sheep to the slaughter?

In 2013, New York passed the SAFE Act and Governor Andrew Cuomo signed it into law, even though it was a clear violation of the rights of the people. Now gun grabbers are back for more. Never satisfied, the state legislature is now eyeing more infringements upon the people’s rights.

Democrats Michelle Schmiel, Brian Kavanagh, Amy Paulin and Patrica Fahy took the time to speak to students about further gun control measures.

The Times Union reports:

Some of the proposals, such as a plan to mandate microstamping, which would put etched identifiers in shell casings, have been around for a while. Others, such as proposal put forth by Kavanagh and Democratic Sen. Daniel Squadron to treat .50 caliber guns as assault weapons, have recently been offered up but haven’t gotten out of committee in the Senate.

A proposal that would require gun owners to secure their weapons when children are around has been dubbed Nicholas’ law for Nicholas Naumkin of Saratoga Springs. The 12-year-old boy was shot and killed in December 2010 by a friend who was playing with his father’s unlocked gun.

Also being proposed is a law that would mandate inspections of gun dealers by State Police to supplement what Paulin, a Westchester Democrat, said are infrequent inspections by the federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Now, understand that New York still has an incredible about of criminals who use guns unlawfully. Exhibit A of just how pitiful and ineffective the NY SAFE Act is, can be seen in the murder of two police officers by a Muslim jihadist back in December. But then silly Democrats claim that measures such as their gun control “laws” actually will prevent such crimes. They never do.

First, let’s take the issue of microstamping. Ruger was forced out of California for their ridiculous microstamping law. Other states were looking at losing gun manufacturers over microstamping, including New York and Connecticut.

Bob Owens at Bearing Arms reports on the problems with microstamping. He lists six issues:

  • Microstamping is not commercially viable. No manufacturing technology currently exists to impart these incredibly small unique codes on firearms.
  • Microstamping is easily defeated. These unique microcodes are easily obliterated by several passes with a metal file, or by swapping out inexpensive parts.
  • Microstamping is inconsistent. Variables in firearms and ammunition design keep codes from consistently being imprinted even in sterile, carefully controlled laboratory conditions.
  • Microstamping cannot survive the environment. Any amount of training or normal fouling accumulation in the action of the firearm can render the code unreadable.
  • Microstamping is fragile. Microstamping wears away easily, in just hundreds or thousands of rounds.
  • Microstamping is easily “spoofed.” Shell cases collected at firing ranges from microstamped guns can easily be salted at crime scenes, sending law enforcement on wild goose chases.

There are other issues from some of the proposals. Simply labeling a gun an “assault weapon,” does not make it so. If you buy into this kind of mentality, then what are you going to do when they’ve made their way down the path of referring to your Remington 30.06 as a “sniper rifle”? It will be too late. You will have already bought into that mentality and probably passed it on to your kids, who will easily fork it over to the Nanny State and once and for all be a slave to tyranny.

The .50 BMG rifles are not assault rifles any more than an Ar-15 or AK-47 is. It’s propaganda to sell the agenda, nothing more. At least Serbu Firearms took a stand after the SAFE Act was passed and refused to sell the New York Police Department their .50 Caliber rifles.

As for the ATF, well I’ve already written on that agency. They are simply unconstitutional. They should be defunded and eliminated from the bureaucracy of the federal government.

The firestorm that the NY SAFE Act brought forth resulted in the burning of gun registration forms by patriots, a veteran making a rousing speech claiming he had earned his rights in blood and those rights trumped anyone that is killed with a gun, as well as gun maker Kahr Arms leaving the state.

Not only that, but even New York sheriffs joined lawsuit opposing the NY SAFE Act. Clearly, this was not something the people wanted, but gun grabbers don’t care. They ram it through anyway.

What do you think patriots in New York will do if these people keep pushing them and infringing upon their rights while they are still armed? My guess is that I wouldn’t want to be the one on the enforcement end of any of their pretended legislation.

SHOCKER: Democrats in New York reject Ethics Reform Measures

Hat Tip Bullets First.

Surprise DemocRats in Albany vote to keep corruption intact in the state of New York.

So anyone who has read Bullets First with any regularity knows how I feel about the Empire State, it’s corrupt bottom feeding politicians and it’s rules for thee not for thee mentality of the intelligentsia therein.

It therefore comes as no surprise to me that the Democrats, the same ones who changed the rules and allowed the SAFE Act to be shoved through without public review LITERALLY in the middle of night has rejected a set of measures to limit the unethical, unlawful and unseemly actions by elected officials.

You know, the ones like Sheldon Silver who has been arrested for taking $4 MILLION in bribes.

From Mental Recession:

Republicans in the New York State Assembly presented 13 rule changes designed to improve transparency, ethics, and the rules of the chamber yesterday, and the Democrat opposition, long the main target of such reforms based on a vast history of corruption shot them down one by one.

Assemblyman Jim Tedisco said the rule reforms would “stop major legislation like pension reform, teacher evaluations, the SAFE Act and state budgets from being passed in the middle of the night away from public viewing.”

Via Capital New York:

The Democrat-controlled State Assembly on Monday voted down 13 rules changes introduced by Republicans.

The votes were mostly along party lines. Democratic Assemblyman Michael Kearns supported most of them and his colleague James Skoufis supported some, but other members of their conference were consistent in their opposition.

The proposals included measures such as the posting of committee votes online and term limits for legislative leaders.

McLaughlin took to Facebook and railed against his Democrat colleagues for voting against the reform measures:

If anyone out there needs to show their kids a lesson in what glaring hypocrisy looks like, please tune in to the Assembly live feed immediately.

The Assembly GOP put forth 13 rules changes that would improve transparency, ethics, and the rules of the chamber. The Democrats are in the process of voting down every single one of them. Remember that when they talk about ethics and honesty.

They seek to perpetuate a system that had turned NY into a swamp of corruption. If 8 years is good enough for a President it’s Damn sure more than enough for any “leader” of this Assembly.

To read the full article go to Democrats Reject Ethics Reform Measures

So the rats of Albany have decided to stay scurrying in the night so the “citizens” of the Empire (though in truth they are treated more like servants) can remain unaware of their midnight machinations.

What would you expect from the SAFE Act State?

Cuomo Campaign Throws Tantrum: Forces Factory Worker To Go Home Over NRA Shirt

Hat Tip Bullets First.

Andrew Coumo is an Arrogant Facist Bastard.

tantrum

tantrum

In the film version of “1776″, when the vote on whether to open debate on Independence comes up the  resolution is tied.  The Representative from Rhode Island then saunters in, returning from the lavatory, and is questioned on how Rhode Island stands on the question of debate.

The response from Stephen Hopkins was as follows:

Well, in all my years I ain’t never heard, seen nor smelled an issue that was so dangerous it couldn’t be talked about. Hell yeah! I’m for debating anything. Rhode Island says yea!

Alas, in New York, apparently Mr. Cuomo says “NAY”.  And I’m not talking about him avoiding televised debates with his opponent Rob Astorino.

I’m talking about his recent trip to an alternative power company in upstate New York.

In an exclusive, a reader of Bullets First who works for the hydrogen fuel cell company, Plug Power, passed along the following email that was sent to the Plug employees prior to the Governor’s visit:

From: Vivacqua, Teal
Sent: Tuesday, October 7, 2014 9:05 AM
To: Plug Power Latham
Subject: Wednesday VIP guest

Good morning,

Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, 10/8, Plug Power will be hosting a VIP guest through our manufacturing facility from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Over the next 24 hours, we’ll be prepping the building for this tour. We ask that you contribute by straightening up your work space, specifically if your area is in B2.

While there is no dress code for Wednesday, please remember you will be representing Plug Power to a high-level guest. Please refrain from wearing:
shorts
shirts with any offensive comments/photos
ripped/torn clothing

In regards to parking, there will be spots outside B2 and B3 reserved. Please do not park in the reserved parking areas.

We will share more about this day as information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions, please contact Teal Vivacqua, x1269.

Thanks,
Teal

Nothing out of the ordinary about putting on a good display for the Governor.  Sound business policy.

The issue is what happened when the work day started.  Apparently, Governor Cuomo finds the following clothing “offensive”

nra shirt

An employee on the manufacturing floor wore an NRA shirt and was sent home because the Governor, architect of the SAFE Act and SAFE Act 2 has such a weak constitution that he doesn’t even want to be seen in the same FACTORY as someone who believes in the 2nd Amendment.

Remember, this is the manufacturing floor; so no one is walking around in suits and button up shirts.  And as Plug Power states clearly, they were not enforcing a dress code for the Governor’s trip so the only people who could have made a fuss about the shirt were Governor Cuomo and his handlers.

Does Governor Cuomo hate your 2nd Amendment Rights so much that he is wanton in silencing your 1st Amendment Rights as well?

Apparently so.

But is that really surprising?  Cuomo has gone on the record stating that gun right supporters “have no place in New York.”

“Extreme conservatives who are pro-assault-weaponthey have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”

Apparently, Cuomo thinks New York should only be filled with people who are lock step with him.

Assemblyman Stephen McLaughlin of Albany put it best:

“I think the Governor is a bully.  An elitist, arrogant bully.”

That he is, and more.  Apparently, according to the Governor, if you even believe in the 2nd Amendment and have the gall to wear a t-shirt to that effect in his presence, then you don’t even deserve to work.  No doubt the worker was sent home without pay and had to take a sick day if he wanted to be earn any money on Wednesday.

The only thing “sick” is the situation where a power hungry Governor has run roughshod over the state for so long that he will go out of his way to crush even the smallest of people in order to keep his fanciful delusion, that the people ubiquitously love and support him, intact.

I hope New York comes to it’s senses on November 4th and show Cuomo that it is HE who doesn’t have place in New Yorkor at least a place running it.

Kick Cuomo Out

Remington to NY: Pound Sand; Firearms Maker Moving Large Portion of Operation to Alabama

This is from Guns Save Lives.

Remington has been in Ilion, NY  since 1816.

This could be the end of Ilion,NY.

Maybe New York might think of repealing the so-called Safe Act.

It was really just a matter of time until Remington (which is now comprised of numerous brands under the Freedom Group) began to pull its operations out of anti-gun New York.

It has been announced that Remington will be moving production of two of its most popular firearms lines, its Bushmaster AR-15 rifles and R1 1911 from New York to the more gun friendly Alabama.

According to The Buffalo News,

While the company did not announce the outright closing of the facility that has been home to Remington since 1816, gun rights advocates said that day is now likely moving closer and they blame the state’s 2013 NY SAFE Act gun control law.

“This could very well be the beginning of the end of Ilion,’’ said Tom King, president of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, the state chapter for the National Rifle Association.

The Buffalo News last September featured Ilion in a story about residents there growing increasingly worried that Remington, the anchor in the village of 8,000 in Herkimer County, was under growing pressure to leave New York since passage of the SAFE Act.

While Remington made no mention of the New York’s new restrictive gun laws, called the SAFE Act, it is widely thought that this package of extremely anti-gun laws played a part in the decision.

We don’t currently have the information about the new Alabama facilities, but will update this post it once we find out the number of employees and information about the new manufacturing operation in Alabama.

Georgia Governor To Sign New Gun Bill Dramatically Expanding Rights Of Licensed Carriers

This is from Independent Journal Review.

This is a giant forward for gun owners in Georgia.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal will sign new legislation Wednesday that will dramatically expand the rights of the state’s licensed gun owners.

The new law expands the scope of public places where licensed owners are allowed to carry firearms – including public places.

While critics have called the new legislation the “Guns Everywhere Bill,” the National Rifle Association (NRA) hails the law as “the most comprehensive pro-gun reform legislation introduced in recent state history.”

So what are some of the specifics?

The law allows licensed owners to carry their firearms into some government buildings (those without certain security measures), bars, and a wide variety of public places, including parks. Additionally, the law now allows churches to “opt in” to permit weapons, school districts to appoint staff who may carry firearms and requires bars to opt out if they wish to ban weapons.

Georgia state Rep. Rick Jasperse, who introduced the bill, summed it up:

“When we limit a Georgian’s ability to carry a weapon – to defend themselves – we’re empowering the bad guys.”

Following the Sandy Hook shooting, New York enacted sweeping gun-control legislation – the SAFE Act – which placed a myriad of restrictions on licensed, law-abiding gun owners. Now, Georgia has taken a different approach. Which state took the right path?

Is it fair to speculate as to which law the staff and teachers inside that elementary school in Connecticut would have preferred on that horrific day in December of 2012? Of course, it is.

SAFE Act : 17 counties tell Albany to stop using their seals on SAFE Act papers

This is from Guns.com.

I am happy to see counties in New York telling Albany and Dictator Coumo to pound sand.

These counties are telling Albany they in no way support the SAFE Act and to take their county seals off official documents.

In the past 10 weeks, almost a third of the counties in New York have passed resolutions denying permission to the state to use their official seals on anything to do with the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act .

Currently 17 out of New York’s 62 counties have submitted resolutions to send to Albany, pulling their official logos from supporting SAFE act documentation, according to a list by NY SAFE Resolutions, a website dedicated to compiling information about the law.

The first to do this was Wayne County in the Finger Lakes region on Nov. 19, 2013.

The language used in the resolution is simple enough. Essentially Wayne County washes its hands of the responsibility to enforce the law and in turn puts the burden on the state to enforce it. And since the county’s sheriff and clerk have strong objections to the law, it denies the state the use of the name, seal of the county, letter head or address in communicating the law to the public.

A similar one in nearby Steuben County a week later soon followed this resolution.

The SAFE Act was signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo on the same day it passed the state legislature. Since its adoption last year it has found objections from both law enforcement and the courts .

Seventeen of New York State’s 62 counties have passed resolutions requesting that the state government not use their county seals and logos in any SAFE Act documentation.

Seventeen of New York State’s 62 counties have passed resolutions requesting that the state government not use their county seals and logos in any SAFE Act documentation.

In December, 13 more counties, an average of three per week, handed down votes to tell the state government not to associate the SAFE act with their logos and seals.

“We want residents to have no doubt that if they are receiving any correspondence regarding the NY SAFE Act that it is coming from the state and not the county,” said Thomas Walsh Sr., R-District 3 in the passing of Rensselaer County’s resolution just before Christmas .

The counties that have made the decision to restrict their seals are spread across the state. Notably the only region that does not have a county in which one of these resolutions has passed is in the Hudson Valley/New York City region.

So far this year, Herkimer County and Chemung County have joined the movement with their own resolutions.

Some see this effort as political grandstanding.

In the Herkimer County vote, which passed by 13-2 with two others abstaining, one of those in opposition spoke out.

“It seems like a silly exercise to me,”  Legislator Gary Hartman, (D-Herkimer), said of the most recent resolution. “It kind of makes me wonder, what’s next? Are we going to secede from the union?”-*-

NY Governor Cuomo Tells ‘Extreme’ Conservatives There is No Place for Them in New York

This is from Mr.Conservative.com.

Andrew Cuomo I am Damned Proud to be an Extreme Conservative.

I want to make my position crystal clear, I am pro firearms, pro life, but I am not anti gay.

I am against being told homosexuality being normal I am against being told I have to accept this abomination.

Genesis 2:7

King James Version (KJV)

7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis 2:21-23

King James Version (KJV

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

The word of God tells of God creating Adam and Eve not creating Adam and Steve.

Andrew Cuomo took the opportunity to lash out at “extreme conservatives” on Friday.

He delivered some of the most outragous and appalling displays of the left’s perpetual lack of inclusivity and intolerance for people who have different views than them.

Here is the full quote from a friday morning conversation on the Capitol Pressroom fromThe Times Union:

“You have a schism within the Republican Party. … They’re searching to define their soul, that’s what’s going on. Is the Republican party in this state a moderate party or is it an extreme conservative party? That’s what they’re trying to figure out. It’s a mirror of what’s going on in Washington. The gridlock in Washington is less about Democrats and Republicans. It’s more about extreme Republicans versus moderate Republicans.

… You’re seeing that play out in New York. … The Republican Party candidates are running against the SAFE Act — it was voted for by moderate Republicans who run the Senate! Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves. Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.

If they’re moderate Republicans like in the Senate right now, who control the Senate — moderate Republicans have a place in their state. George Pataki was governor of this state as a moderate Republican; but not what you’re hearing from them on the far right.”

The scary thing is that this is a guy who the media tells us is a front-runner for the democratic nomination for President in 2016.

Can you imagine a major Presidential contender telling conservatives that there is no place for them in the United States?

(Read More: NY Sheriffs Join Together To Sue Gov. Cuomo For Infringing Gun Rights)

The most frustrating thing about Cuomo’s comments is his choice of using the term, “extreme” to describe his colleagues, neighbors and constituents. It is a term that is commonly applied to views and beliefs that are truly hateful, and reside on the fringes of the political and philosphical spectrum. Do you know any conservatives who live in New York? Are they “extreme” to you?

Gun Confiscation Underway in New York

This is from Town Hall.

You can keep your guns we do not want to take them away.

Yet they are coming for your guns.

What will happen with this undetectable gun bill?

Nobody is coming for your guns, they said. Nobody is taking away your rights, they said. This is all about public safety, they said.

Nearly a year ago, the New York legislature passed the toughest gun control law in the country known as the S.A.F.E. Act. It was rushed through in the middle of the night and as soon as it landed on Governor Cuomo’s desk, he signed it without asking questions. Now, local and state government are taking the opportunity tocrack down on regulations already on the books which means for many, turn in your guns or leave.

The New York City Police Department is taking aim at owners of certain shotguns and rifles, telling them all long guns with a five-round or more capacity must be turned in, altered or taken out of town.

An estimated 500 recipients of the notices, which were mailed on Nov. 18, were given the options to surrender their gun, permanently move the gun out of city jurisdiction or employ a licensed gunsmith to modify the weapon to get into compliance with the law. Rifles and shotguns with a capacity of five or more rounds are affected.

Though these notices were not sent out as a direct result of the SAFE Act, New York State Assemblyman James Tedisco said the new law may embolden city police forces to send out similar letters.

Tedisco, who voted against the SAFE Act, said New York City had the five-round law in the books for about 20 years, but this is the first time he has heard complaints about the notices being sent out to gun owners.

“These letters appear to be another example of the Nanny State,” Tedisco said. “Hypothetically, it can start with a letter, and then that can lead to someone knocking on your door saying, ‘I want to see your gun.'”

Thanks to the S.A.F.E. Act and the unreasonable demands from police, three gun companies have left New York State in addition to a number of gun owners.
