Repeal Second Amendment,’ says Seattle Times columnist

This is from the Examiner.

The problem in Seattle is not too many concealed weapons,

the problem is not enough concealed weapons.

Seattle Times columnist Jerry Large has taken whatgun rights activists call “the easy route” by lamenting today that the answer to violent urban crime – resulting in three fatal Jet City shootings in recent days – is to repeal the Second Amendment.

Second Amendmentadvocates know there are lots of people like Jerry Large. The same suggestion came up last year in the Minneapolis Post, and evenVanity Fair. There were more than raised eyebrows in Texas last November when a professor at Texas A&M said it was time to repeal the amendment. Someone even has aFacebook page devoted to repeal.

Seattle Times readers are not reacting too favorably to Large’s suggestion. Some of them may have spent last weekend at the National Rifle Association’s convention in Indianapolis, or visited one of two gun shows held over the weekend in Puyallup and Tacoma. More than 75,000 people visited the NRA convention, many of them openly armed and more packing concealed handguns. Nobody suffered a scratch. Ditto here in the Evergreen State.

“I don’t believe the Second Amendment was ever intended to support the kind of gun craziness we contend with today,” Large contends, “but since it’s always used to ward off any common-sense gun reforms, maybe we ought to just fix the Constitution and be done with it.”

And what does Jerry consider “common sense?” He seems to favor banning guns in most public places, which are the places most violent crimes occur, including mass shootings. Gun bans have not prevented those crimes, but they did create risk-free working environments for the perpetrators.

Large likes the idea of “smart gun” technology. That may become a reality someday, but the technology is hardly 100-percent reliable, and until it is, such firearms are not worth the risk. If police and the president’s Secret Service detail won’t carry such guns, neither should private citizens.

Consider repealing the First Amendment. Certainly the Founders never dreamed that the nation would one day have on-line newspapers, 24/7 cable television news, and news agencies that serve more as lapdogs than watchdogs, especially for the current administration. Ben Franklin never saw an offset press or a desktop computer.

Would Franklin have remained silent if the White House covered up the terrorist murder of an American ambassador? Franklin was our ambassador to France during the Revolutionary War.

Is it not time for people like Large, or socialist City Councilwoman Kshama Sawant, to be arrested or at least silenced for sedition? Why not silence Fox News for challenging the Obama administration’s explanation about Benghazi, and reporting on the Fast and Furious and IRS scandals? Once we start messing with the Bill of Rights, we don’t merely step onto the proverbial “slippery slope,” we jump off a cliff.

KVI’s morning drive time host John Carlson had questions for Large. Does the Seattle Times columnist think any of the people involved in Seattle’s shootings had their guns legally? Were any of them licensed to carry?

Large and other repeal proponents at least get it right when they acknowledge that erasing the Second Amendment is wishful thinking. Anti-gunners may not like the amendment, but they have the good fortune to live among other people who protect it zealously.

“Thought Police” Ban All Words

This is from Victoria

The thought police be damned.

I always have and always will call them like I see them.

Seattle is considering banning the words “brown bag” and “citizen” because the words offend black people and illegals.

Daniel Greenfield responds, “When Seattle one day gets around to banning all words, because language is inherently offensive to the illiterate, and everyone is reduced to communicating with grunts and emphatic gestures, an era of true tolerance and nomadic lifestyles will be upon us.” That is hilarious Daniel! Well said.

George Orwell’s “1984″ prophecy is coming true. Freedom of Speech is dying. Censorship is growing. Controlling language = controlling thoughts. Controlling thoughts is mind control. Zombies. Robots. The walking dead.

Story here.
Story also here.

When I grew up, I was banned from using certain words, not by the government, but by my father. I was banned from saying God’s name in vain, or using it as a curse word. I was also banned from saying euphemisms for God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit, i.e. “golly,” “gee,” “gee-whiz,” “gosh,” “holy cow,” etc. I wasn’t allowed to say the “f” word, or the “n” word, or “sh**,” or even “crap.” I didn’t want to. I respected God and my parents and others.

Proverbs 18:21
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue…”

Dad said that the only biological systems used as ‘cuss’ words were the reproductive and the excretory systems. He said the human body was a magnificent masterpiece (Psalm 139) and that using body parts in a derogatory fashion was blasphemous to God, the Creator. I love that. I love that Dad taught me to respect God and the human body, mine and others’. Words are powerful. Using bad language affects your personality and your behavior.

I taught my children the same. We don’t say “f-a-r-t.” I told my daughter that saying “f-a-r-t” would lead to saying “f-*-*-k”, which would lead to smoking, then drinking, then alcohol, pot, cocaine, and then heroin. She said, “You’re telling me that if I say, “f-a-r-t,” I’ll become a heroin addict?!” I replied, “Yes.” She said, “Can I say “fert”?

If you can’t control your tongue, you can’t control anything.

However, the current governmental movement to control our speech is not based on morality or Biblical principles or even kindness. It is part of a larger agenda from the Progressives/Communists to control everything. Our media is controlled by the government. Our public education. Our money. Our health care…maybe. (Obamacare will probably crash). Our smoking areas. Our soda and caloric intake. What I bring on a plane. What I pack on a trip. What I wear on my head in my Driver’s License photo. What we post on the Internet. And now, our words. Our thoughts.

Speech controls our ideology. By making it “racist” to say “Oriental” instead of “Asian,” or to change the name of the Cleveland “Indians” baseball team, or to say “African-American” instead of just “American” is pushing multiculturalism which is globalism, a one world (socialist/communist) government.

Omitting the words “Islam,” “jihad,” and “Muslim” from the CIA, FBI, and media reports on terrorist activities like the Ft. Hood shooting changes our war from America against Islamic Jihad, to America against any “extremist” religious belief system. And, who determines what “extreme” is? Harry Reid, Pelosi and Obama continually preach that the Tea Party/conservatives/Christians are “dangerous.” They are using words to deceive, to change the enemy, to redirect focus, and move the target.

Using “gay” instead of “homosexual” changes the attitude of a behavior from ‘deviant’ to ‘happy.’

Mikey Weinstein trying to remove “So help me God” from the Air Force Academy oath, and atheists trying to remove crosses from the Ground Zero Monument, and other places, and to remove the phrase “under God” from our Pledge of Allegiance….

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” John 1

Students suspended for wearing Confederate flags to protest gay rainbow flag

This is from The Daily Caller.

You can protest and attack Christians.

Yet you can not protest homosexuals.

Political Correctness is destroying freedoms in America.

Here is what God says about homosexuality.

Leviticus 18:22

New Living Translation (NLT)

22 “Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin.

At Tahoma High School in the nether suburbs of Seattle, it’s totally okay to display a gay-pride flag, but two juniors were suspended for three days for wearing Confederate flags at school.

An unnamed school district spokesman said that a sophomore had been exhibiting a gay-pride flag at Tahoma High for the last two weeks, reports local CBS affiliate KIRO. When the two juniors showed up on Tuesday in a common area wearing the Confederate flags as a political statement in response, they were suspended.

School officials said the Confederate flags caused a disruption because some students were upset. The officials added that the garb was an undisclosed violation of the Tahoma High dress code.

At least one of the unidentified, Confederate flag-wearing students wore the controversial symbol around his neck in some fashion.

Local residents supported the school’s decision, according to KIRO.

“I can see where we wouldn’t okay that,” said concerned aunt Tiki Scroggins, who was at at school to pick up her nephew. “There’s too many ethnic backgrounds that that could offend.”

“It’s about the attitude,” she added.

Students with whom the CBS affiliate spoke also voiced support for the suspension. They noted that it’s one thing to see the flag on a vehicle, but another to see it at school.

“You don’t expect, like, kids to show up with a Confederate flag on their back,” senior Coleman Wooten said.

It’s not clear if the two juniors will fight their suspensions.

In February, school officials in Wolcott, Conn reversed a prior decision to prohibit a high school student from wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with an anti-gay message. (RELATED: Connecticut high school student can wear anti-gay shirt after all)

The American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut represented the student, Seth Groody.

The civil liberties organization had previously warned that it was ready to sue the school district to protect Groody’s First Amendment rights.

The white t-shirt was festooned with a bold, red “universal no” circle and slash mark symbol superimposed over a multicolored rainbow. The other side of the shirt contained male and female stick figures holding hands and the words “Excessive Speech Day.”

Groody had worn the shirt to Wolcott High School on a day that had been designated as a day of awareness concerning the harassment of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals.

5 dead after shooting in Seattle’s Federal Way suburb, police say

This is from U.S.News on NBC.

It seems Washington States draconian gun laws are a failure.

I have a radical idea for the goofs running Washington State

give your residents Second Amendment Rights .

Police officers walk near evidence markers at the scene of an overnight shooting that left five people dead at the Pinewood Village apartment complex in Federal Way, Wash.

By F. Brinley Bruton and Christopher Nelson, NBC News

Five people were killed in a shooting at an apartment complex near Seattle late on Sunday, including a suspect who was shot by officers, police said.

Officers were alerted to a shooting in progress at around 9:30 p.m. local time (12:30 a.m. ET) by an emergency call from the complex in Federal Way, which is between Seattle and Tacoma, police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said in a statement.

Gunshots were still being heard when officers arrived at the complex, she added.

“As officers assessed the scene two males could be seen in the parking lot injured,” Schrock said.  “An officer attempted to rescue the men, and as the (police officer) approached, one of the males on the ground reached for a weapon.”

This led to police officers firing on the suspects, she said. Three men were confirmed dead in the parking lot, and a woman and another man were found dead in a nearby apartment, police said.

No officers were injured in the incident, and eight police were placed on administrative leave after the shootings. This is standard policy for officers involved in shootings, Schrock said.

While there was no word on what caused the gunfire, police said they did not think another shooter was on the loose. Police said they would provide more information at a 11:30 a.m. PT (2:30 p.m. ET) press conference.

Florida Republican Party leader receives hoax letter; FBI investigates

This is from WKMG Local 6 Orlando.

This is frightening that this letter is being sent.

How many more attempts at voter intimidation is happening?

Ladies and Gentlemen this election could be determined by voter fraud.

The FBI is joining an investigation into bogus letters sent to many Florida residents, including the Republican Party of Florida chairman, that raise questions about their eligibility to vote.

FBI officials said Wednesday the FBI will focus on letters received by voters in 18 counties in central and southwest Florida.

According to the Republican Party of Florida, Chairman Lenny Curry received one of the fake letters on Tuesday.

“This type of activity is not only disgusting, it is criminal, and must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” Curry said in a release.  “I call on Florida Democrats to join me in condemning this false letter writing campaign that appears to target likely voters in Florida, and help RPOF get the word out about this false campaign.”

Local 6 first reported the bogus letter scam on Monday, which claim to be from county supervisors of elections but are postmarked from Seattle. They raise questions about the voter’s citizenship and appear intended to intimidate people.

The FBI says voters who get a letter should contact their supervisor of elections and then keep the letter for the FBI.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is also investigating.

Safeway Security Guard Fired After Interrogating Girl; Company Faced Criticism for Similar Incident

The story and video are from ABC News.
Sounds like Safeway has a major problem.
They better find a solution real quick.

Safeway has fired the security guard who interrogated a 4-year-old girl for alleged shoplifting after he saw her eat from a bag of apricots and put the bag back on the shelf.
The girl’s father apparently hadn’t noticed what his daughter had done and was taken aback when he was stopped by security on his way out of the Everett, Wash., store.
The guard then interrogated Savannah Harp, 4.
The girl’s mother, Alissa Jones, said the guard proceeded to tell Harp’s father that the tot was banned from the store and that it would be pressing charges.
“He told them, ‘Your daughter stole and she’s banned from the store, and we’re pressing charges. And she needs to sign this form saying she understands she can’t come into any Safeways,’” Jones said, according toABC News Seattle affiliate KOMO 4 News.
Savannah, who can’t read or write yet, was forced to scribble on the piece of paper.
“It’s pretty troubling. It’s not like she even knows what she was doing,” Jones said.
Safeway officials expressed outrage over the guard’s treatment of the little girl and issued a formal apology to her family. The division president offered to take the little girl around the bakery to show her that the store was not a scary place.
“In this case, neither our policy nor commonsense seems to have been followed,” Safeway said in a statement.
The California-based supermarket chain recently came under fire in a similar situation. A pregnant woman who was shopping with her husband and 2-year-old daughter in a Safeway in Beretainia, near Honolulu, was arrested and charged with theft after she ordered two sandwiches for a total of $5, ate one while she shopped and forgot to pay for them  at checkout on Oct. 31.
Nicole Leszczynski, 28, and her husband Marcin, 33, were new to the state and had gotten lost on their way to the grocery store. When they came upon the Safeway, she was famished, the Associated Press reported.
The pregnant woman, a former Air Force staff sergeant, said she was embarrassed about the lapse and offered to pay for the sandwiches, but managers wouldn’t allow it.
Instead, the couple were handcuffed, searched then released on $50 bail each, and their daughter was temporarily taken away by the state Child Welfare Services, the AP said.
The incident caused furor across the nation.  Safeway dropped the charges and apologized to the woman.  The company also said it would re-examine its worker training polices, the AP reported.
