College Student ‘Can Hardly Blame’ Those Who Robbed Him At Gunpoint Because of His White ‘Privilege’

This is from Independent Journal Review.

With fools like this running around, I fear for the future of the younger generations growing up today.

With liberal morons like this is charge they will be screwed.

In many major cities like Washington D.C., unfortunately being mugged is a way of life. However, one student at Georgetown University was not only blase about his recent mugging, but actually believes he deserved it because he was “privileged.”

According to his op-ed in The Hoya, which is Georgetown University’s school newspaper, Oliver Friedfeld wrote about his recent mugging and described it this way:

Last weekend, my housemate and I were mugged at gunpoint while walking home from Dupont Circle. The entire incident lasted under a minute, as I was forced to the floor, handed over my phone and was patted down.

He wants you to know that he doesn’t think his attackers were bad people. Not all, in fact,  he knows why they did it. It’s because of income inequality and class oppression. Sigh.

And yet, when a reporter asked whether I was surprised that this happened in Georgetown, I immediately answered: “Not at all.” It was so clear to me that we live in the most privileged neighborhood within a city that has historically been, and continues to be, harshly unequal. While we aren’t often confronted by this stark reality west of Rock Creek Park, the economic inequality is very real.

I can’t wait to see the defense at trial when police finally catch these thieves. Maybe the thieves can say instead of robbing Mr. Friedfeld and his housemate, they were just merely  “checking their privilege.”

“Privilege” has been in the news a lot lately. It seems that the left has been using this word a lot in related to everything from Ferguson to “Gamergate.” The term comes from critical theory or Cultural Marxism which tries to break down all societal relationships between “privileged and oppressed.” Here’s a better explanation:

That is to say, where there is a distinction between two groups of people, their relationship will be one of oppressed versus oppressor or, in other words, good and bad people. In addition to this, the group who is better off, or perceived to be better off (privileged), is automatically the guilty party. Anyone the cultural Marxists label as ‘privileged’ is the enemy of society, the only safe position is to be or appear to be a helpless victim.

This is the basis of the class, gender, and racial warfare that has been waged by the left against the country. It’s a deliberate strategy to render millions of Americans into Oliver Friedfelds: So ashamed of who they are (whether or not they did anything wrong) to fight back against those who are oppressing them in reality.

Like the guys sticking a gun in your face to rob you; as fitting a ‘reification of government oppression as it gets.

But that’s how leftist ideology works for the true believers – it makes you so detached from reality to see what’s going on in front of your face and so ‘selfless’ you won’t even dare to defend yourself.

BREAKING: Washington DC Ban on Carry Outside of the Home STRUCK DOWN in Court

This is from Guns Save Lives.

Another win for gun owners and the Constitution.

You know, the anti gun Nazis in Washington,D. C. will try to make an end run around this ruling.

It looks attorney Alan Gura, who has won numerous, national gun rights cases (including the famous Heller decision), just racked up another court win for gun owners, this time in our nation’s capital, Washington D.C.

According to the decision handed down by the United States District Court of the District of Columbia in the Palmer v DC case,

In light of Heller, McDonald, and their progeny, there is no longer any basis on which this Court can conclude that the District of Columbia’s total ban on the public carrying of ready-to-use handguns outside the home is constitutional under any level of scrutiny. Therefore, the Court finds that the District of Columbia’s complete ban on the carrying of handguns in public is unconstitutional.

Accordingly, the Court grants Plaintiffs’ motion for summary judgment and enjoins Defendants from enforcing the home limitations of D.C. Code § 7-2502.02(a)(4) and enforcing D.C. Code § 22-4504(a) unless and until such time as the District of Columbia adopts a licensing mechanism consistent with constitutional standards enabling people to exercise their Second Amendment right to bear arms.4 Furthermore, this injunction prohibits the District from completely banning the carrying of handguns in public for self-defense by otherwise qualified non-residents based solely on the fact that they are not residents of the District.

According to Gura’s blog,

n 2012, I won Moore v. Madigan, 702 F.3d 933 (7th Cir. 2012), which struck down Illinois total ban on the carrying of defensive handguns outside the home. With this decision in Palmer, the nation’s last explicit ban of the right to bear arms has bitten the dust. Obviously, the carrying of handguns for self-defense can be regulated. Exactly how is a topic of severe and serious debate, and courts should enforce constitutional limitations on such regulation should the government opt to regulate.

But totally banning a right literally spelled out in the Bill of Rights isn’t going to fly. My deepest thanks to the Second Amendment Foundation for making this victory possible and to my clients for hanging in there. Congratulations Americans, your capital is not a constitution-free zone.

Great news for DC gun owners and another great job by Gura in the courtroom!

First woman of Somali descent joins St. Paul Police Department

More concessions to the followers of Mohammed the Pedophile.

I bet a Christian would not get any concessions regarding their religious beliefs.

In Somali culture, women don’t strive to become police officers, Kadra Mohamed said.

On Saturday morning, Mohamed was recognized as the first Somali-American woman to join the St. Paul Police Department, a move made possible by the department’s announcement that it has approved an option for employees to wear a police-issued hijab.

“It’s nerve-wracking in a way,” Mohamed, 21, said of being the first woman of Somali descent in the department. “I want to be a good role model for others, especially Somali women.”

Mohamed was recognized at the police’s Western District building during a graduation ceremony for youth who recently completed the East African Junior Police Academy.

Police Chief Thomas Smith said St. Paul joins at least one other department — in Washington, D.C. — as the only departments in the U.S. to allow the hijab, a head scarf worn in public by some Muslim women.

A senior studying criminal justice at St. Cloud State University and a St. Paul Central High School graduate, Mohamed said she contacted St. Paul police a few months ago to learn about becoming an officer. She said she expressed concerns over not being able to wear a hijab on duty. In Islam, females may wear the hijab as a form of modesty and cultural identity, and Mohamed wears it as part of her daily dress.

In December, the police service in Edmonton, Alberta, approved the option for female officers of Muslim faith to wear a police-issued hijab. St. Paul police Sgt. Tina Kill said the department contacted Edmonton police, and they provided input on a hijab suitable for duty — the final product of which Mohamed wore at Saturday’s ceremony.

Mohamed said the hijab was carefully made so that it would not impair her from performing any duties. One row of buttons runs horizontally along the sides of her head, connecting the top half to a scarf that tightly hugs her neck. The buttons can snap off easily, she said, in case a criminal tried to pull the cloth around her neck.

St. Paul police efforts to recruit within the Somali-American community have been underway since 2004, which laid the groundwork for the African Immigrant Muslim Community Outreach Program in 2009. Funded largely by a two-year federal grant, AIMCOP received $670,679 to develop mentoring programs with the Muslim and Somali communities, an athletic league and meetings at mosques and community centers to discuss crime prevention.

The Twin Cities have the nation’s largest Somali-American population. Garaad Sahal was St. Paul’s first — and only — Somali-American police officer, joining in late 2012.

Born in Kenya, Mohamed grew up and lives part-time in St. Paul’s West Side with her mother, who fled the ongoing civil war in Somalia and lived in a Kenyan refugee camp before coming to the U.S. with her daughter.

Mohamed said she is planning to enroll in a police academy to receive officer training after she graduates from St. Cloud State in May. After that, she said, she will apply to become an officer.

Some of her tasks as a liaison officer include assisting officers in criminal investigations and extending outreach within the Somali community to bridge cultural gaps, she said.

“She’s going to be a trendsetter,” Smith said.

As part of the police department’s commitment to establishing and bolstering relationships within the Twin Cities’ Somali community, 23 children and young adults, most of whom have East African origins, were recognized at the graduation ceremony for completing the monthlong junior police academy. Forty had signed up for the program, and 12 were absent at Saturday’s ceremony.

The St. Paul Police Department regularly holds citizen academies, including those for youth, but this was the first one geared toward East African youth.

One of the academy’s four female graduates, Faisa Mohamed, 18, said Kadra Mohamed will serve as a role model for young Somali-American women who perhaps had not considered becoming an officer until now, in part because of cultural differences.

Intisam Moosa, another academy graduate, said: “Now if (female Somalis) see her, they will think, ‘What makes her any different than me?’ “

WATCH: Old Guard Sentinel Puts Laughing Tourists In Their Place At Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

This is from Independent Journal Review.

I am glad I was not there as I would have gone to jail for punching these loud mouthed aholes upside their heads .

The Old Guard is the name familiarly given to the 3rd U.S. Infantry, an active-duty unit based in Washington, D.C. They serve as the President’s escort, and more publicly, serve as sentinels at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery.

It’s a high honor to be chosen to serve in the Old Guard, as the selection process is rigorous. They take their job incredibly seriously, as you see in the video above: a few seconds into the video, some people disrespect the sanctity of the memorial by loudly talking and laughing. Watch how this soldier quickly puts these people in their place – via the good folks at Conservative Post.

The Prince of Hopenchange: a Politically Incorrect Fable

This is from Joe For America.

This is a never ending nightmare brought to us by Obama and company.

Once upon a time . . . a great and dark cloud settled over a country of decent-and-hard-working people. Fearful about losing their jobs, homes, and savings, everyone tossed and turned at night.BO Knight

But then, TAH! DAH! Along came The Prince of Hopenchange, sword of righteousness in one hand, teleprompter in the other. He spoke with such sincerity that almost everyone became enthralled with his charming smile, oh-so-generously-sized ears, and lovely wife who’d suddenly become proud of her country for the first time in her life.

Championing himself as THE ONE who could save the country, he double-pinky promised to smite those who had created the dark cloud. He identified them as fat-cat bankers and thieving rich people working on the street named “Wall.”

He triple-pinky promised much, much more of everything that mattered, including jobs, opportunities, fairness in government, medical care, cooperation between political parties, and government transparency so the decent-and-hard-working people could observe their elected employees fulfilling their sworn duties.

NOTE: When the Prince of Hopenchange promised more of everything for every one, the decent and hard-working people didn’t quite understand what he really truly meant by more.

Never, in their wildest dream, could they have imagined that he meant more economic uncertainty and recession – more government spending – more borrowing – more debt – more excuses – more blaming – moreclosed businesses – more doctors retiring early – more unemployment – more apologizing for America’s greatness – more intentional political gridlock – more business-killing rules and regulations – more executive orders to bypass Congress – more attacks against the Constitution – all orchestrated behind more heavily fortified, double-locked doors in Washington, DC.

During his presidential campaign, he repeated hope and change and hope and change and hope and change and hope and change so often that a spell fell over the multitudes. Lost in their dreams of a better tomorrow, nobody questioned the qualifications of a community organizer of Irish-African-American heritage who had never owned or worked in a business, or achieved much of anything that mattered.

Nobody questioned why he sat in his Chicago church for 20 years and heard nothing, saw nothing, and said nothing as his minister spewed forth hatred against pasty, white-skinned people in general and America in particular.

Nobody seemed to care that the Prince of Hopenchange had been AWOL when he was an Illinois state Senator.

Nobody cared that when he actually was present in the Senate, he most often voted present instead of disclosing an opinion except when the issue was progressive in nature, like “the infanticide law” which supported killing aborted newborns who were born alive. This he supported three times.

Nobody in the media cared why the records of birth, education, and travel records of possibly the next president of the most powerful country in the world were hidden from public view (and still are).

Instead, lame-stream media went all a-tingle and fell in love with the Prince of Hopenchange. They anointed him as their CHOSEN ONE, the messiah who would unite the world in love, peace, and brotherhood.

Then, an amazing co-ink-ee-dink occurred two months just before the 2008 national election. The housing bubble burst. Millions of citizens instantly lost 40% equity in their homes as well as chunks of their retirement savings. “Oh dear! Oh dear! Woe is me!” echoed far and wide across the country.

“Not to fear,”assured the Prince of Hopenchange. “I am THE ONE who will fix everything so you all can move back onto your path leading to “happily ever after.”

BO hope & changeEnough people believed him that he was elected by a narrow margin. But then, oh-my-goodness! Oh-my-gracious!

The Prince of Hopenchange moved into our White House and summoned HIS CHOSEN ONES–political cronies, radical advisers, home-town thugs, union bosses, basketball pals, lobbyists, community organizers, secular socialists, a few Marxists, and a communist or two–all determined to fundamentally transform America.

The Prince of Hopenchange removed his smiley face mask and revealed his true self as the Deceiver-in-Chief. He smirked when opposition leaders tried to present ideas for compromise and told them, “I won. You lost! Shut up and go away!”

The Deceiver-in-Chief smiled as his White House comrades-in-arms launched hundreds, then thousands of cripple-the-economy rules, regulations and taxes. He applauded their fulfillment of his promises of equality when they launched class-and-race warfare to separate the “less equals” from the “equals” and the “more equals.”

The Deceiver-in-Chief tossed his promise of transparency into the trash and cloaked corrupt deals and political manipulations behind closed and locked doors. He dissed the country’s honored documents and covenants that promised liberty for all. When the decent and hard working citizens politely reminded the Deceiver-in-Chief of his vow to honor their Constitution, he BO and constitutionsneered,

Constitution? I don’t need no stinkin’ Constitution.

And then, one night, he and his minions danced on the White House lawn by the light of the silvery moon as they welcomed a new resident, the Zombie-from-Chicago. (But whoopsie! That’s a story for another day.)

Hat Tip to Old NFO.

The United States ranks 3rd in murders throughout the World.

But if you take out Chicago, Detroit, Washington D.C. and New Orleans, the United States is 4th from the bottom (in the world) for murders. These 4 cities also have the toughest gun control laws in the United States, and are all controlled by Democrats.      Rocket Science Anyone????

h/t JP

And there is a big hooraw in DC with all the usual suspects coming in to hold hearings on SYG, why black youths are being ‘targeted’ and ‘profiled’, and what “WE” are supposed to do to stop being racist, ala Zimmerman…

And ABC put up an interview guaranteed to churn up the masses… But THISarticle at American Thinker calls them out!

And then there was THIS on Saturday from NBC4 in DC… Hate bias??? What the hell is that???

Police said a man, 28, from Bethesda, Md., was attacked in the 1700 block of Euclid Street, Northwest, in Adams Morgan. The victim said he was approached by three black males who kicked and punched him to the ground.

According the victim, one of the attackers yelled, “This is for Trayvon,” during the assault. The victim suffered lacerations to the face from the attack. Police said the suspects took the man’s wallet and iPhone. The police report lists the incident as robbery force violence, hate bias incident.

Or this one HERE.

Once again, I’d like to know who is paying to fly all these people in; and why there is NO admission that these ‘youth’ are in fact committing crimes including murder on a daily basis (see above)… What about the actions these ‘youth’ do every day that are caught on video, arrested for, etc… Where is the admission that they ARE being profiled because they ARE the ones committing these crimes?

Where is the outcry in the black community over the murders in Chicago? In Detroit? In DC???

Colin Noir and other blacks who actually speak out about this are called Uncle Toms, and put down in their own communities.  The same treatment is received by the blacks in the military, especially those that are successful; friends of mine have told me they were accused of ‘selling out’ to the man and not ‘standing up’ to the racism in the military…

The only one I know who was actually positively received was one who’s dad was a Baptist preacher in the South who had been involved in the civil rights movement. THAT family was proud of their son and all he had accomplished!

Worse, folks like this who could contribute to real resolution (like Dr. Ben Carson from JHU) are NEVER allowed in these meetings… Two weeks ago the NAACP excluded black conservatives because they didn’t fit the ‘agenda’…

Sharpton/Jackson et al make MONEY off racial hatred and division, they don’t want their $$ cut off, so they continue to foment the hatred, blame and continue to stir the pot, along with the usual suspects in congress (CBC and their minions)…

HERE’s an interesting OPED piece in the Washington Times… Not that it will make any difference, but it DOES bring law rather than emotion into the picture…

You want things to change? Then start by cleaning your own damn house… Stop making drug dealers icons in the community, stop letting gangs and gang leaders be the ‘family’ these kids look up to, stop sweeping the violence under the rug…

For me, “I” will do my best to stay out of the parts of town/or cities as a whole that could put me in jeopardy, but I’m NOT willing to give up my right to defend myself…  Just sayin…

Other thoughts…

It appears the military in the Pentagon has been told to make the military contractors that support operations to ‘feel the pain’, and are rewriting contracts to require contractors to also be furloughed one day a week for the remainder of the year… And warnings have gone out at least unofficially that furloughs will most probably continue into FY-14.

Why can’t we make the executive branch and congress play by these same rules??? If THEY were sequestered/furloughed I’m betting this crap would be sorted out quickly!!!

And the desecration of the Lincoln Memorial, and THIS Veterans Memorial just set my teeth on edge…  It’s obvious these punks have NO respect for the US, so I’d be all for revoking their citizenship’s and throwing their asses out of the country… Let them go try that crap somewhere else and see what happens!!!

On the religious front, if you’re a Christian, you’re under siege…  ANY comments about Islam are immediately countered, you are pilloried in the PC press and now folks are trying to force even more ‘freedoms’ for muslims in the US and other countries…

AJ sent me this one, and seeing what is going on in England and France it truly brings home the fact that muslims have NOT changed…

Any idea who said this???

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries!  Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.  The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity.  The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.  No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.  Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith.  It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome …”

Sir Winston Churchill; (Source: The River War, first edition, Vol II, pages 248-250 London).

Churchill saw it coming… In 1899!!!

And the Ft Hood shooter has released a statement basically admitting he was ‘at war’ with those who were at war with his religion (but it’s still workplace violence dontcha know)… Article HERE.

And in another social engineering for the military, congress is now weighing in and now they want Atheist Chaplains!  Article HERE! YGTBSM!!!

Oh yeah, and the last one… BO and his minions saying the scandals are ‘Phony’… I’m sorry but phony scandals don’t involve people coming home in BODY BAGS!  Ask Brian Terry’s family, or the families of Ambassador StevensSean SmithGlen Doherty and Tyrone Woods whether THEY think it’s phony… The IRS, Weenie waver, the mayor of San Diego, holding the senate hostage to get a bunch of hard left appointees confirmed… But those aren’t real, they are just things we ‘dreamed’ up??? If you ever wondered what the left’s utopia would be, these are examples!!! IF the conservatives had done any of this, O.M.G. you’d NEVER hear the end of it, it would be 24/7 on every channel, and the Weenie waver would be up on sexual harassment charges instead of continuing to run for Mayor of NYC!!!

Gah… Enough already, driving my BP through the roof…

But I do have a question. Am I really that far off base??? Have I totally lost the concept here???

UPDATE: Number Of U.S. Gun Makers Refusing Sales To Gov’t In ‘Firearms Equality Movement’ Triples In Two Weeks

This is from CNSNews.

More gun makers are standing up for Liberty.

We need to contact them and applaud their stand.

They know the importance of The Second Amendment.

On February 22, “Right Views” reported that a growing number of firearm companies have suspended the sale of guns to states, counties, cities and municipalities that restrict their citizens’ rights to own them.

In just two weeks, the number of companies participating in what has been named the “Firearms Equality Movement,” has more than tripled from 34 companies to 118.

The Police Loophole lists every company and links to the statements that each has released regarding their new policies.

Wilson Combat, a custom pistol manufacturer located in Berryville, Arkansas, joined the movement on February 28 stating the following:

“Wilson Combat will no longer provide any products or services to any State Government imposing legislation that infringes on the second amendment rights of its law abiding citizens. This includes any Law Enforcement Department, Law Enforcement Officers, or any State Government Entity or Employee of such an entity. This also applies to any local municipality imposing such infringements.”

Wilson lists the states included on its no sale policy as: California, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington D.C. and The City of Chicago, Illinois.

The statement also reads:

“Wilson Combat will in NO way support the government of these states or their anti-gun agenda that only limits the rights of law-abiding citizens. Wilson Combat will continue to supply any product and/or service they can legally sell in these states to all non-government affiliated citizens.”

This is from The Blaze.

A former liberal has seen the light.

Now he is trying to enlighten the low information voters.

A task that maybe hard to do.

Former Liberal Filmmaker David Mamet Rips Gun Control Advocates in Newsweek/Daily Beast Column

Pulitzer Award-winning author, producer and director David Mamet has been extremely open about his conversion from “brain dead liberal” to conservative, and in the wake of President Obama’s latest push for stricter gun control measures, Mamet has penned yet another column setting the record straight as he sees it.

In an article for Newsweek, the writer of “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “Hannibal” beginswith a cutting analysis of centralized government (all subsequent emphasis added):

Karl Marx summed up Communism as “from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” This is a good, pithy saying, which, in practice, has succeeded in bringing, upon those under its sway, misery, poverty, rape, torture, slavery, and death.

For the saying implies but does not name the effective agency of its supposed utopia. The agency is called “The State,” and the motto, fleshed out, for the benefit of the easily confused must read The State will take from each according to his ability:the State will give to each according to his needs.” “Needs and abilities” are, of course, subjective. So the operative statement may be reduced to “the State shall take, the State shall give.”

Mamet proceeds to tackle gun control head-on, writing:

The Left loves a phantom statistic that a firearm in the hands of a citizen is X times more likely to cause accidental damage than to be used in the prevention of crime, but what is there about criminals that ensures that their gun use is accident-free? If, indeed, a firearm were more dangerous to its possessors than to potential aggressors, would it not make sense for the government to arm all criminals, and let them accidentally shoot themselves? Is this absurd? Yes, and yet the government, of course, is arming criminals.

Violence by firearms is most prevalent in big cities with the strictest gun laws. In Chicago and Washington, D.C., for example, it is only the criminals who have guns, the law-abiding populace having been disarmed, and so crime runs riot.

Cities of similar size in Texas, Florida, Arizona, and elsewhere, which leave the citizen the right to keep and bear arms, guaranteed in the Constitution, typically are much safer. More legal guns equal less crime. What criminal would be foolish enough to rob a gun store? But the government alleges that the citizen does not need this or that gun, number of guns, or amount of ammunition.

Mamet then compares the logic of gun control advocates to tales from his grandmother’s native country:

My grandmother came from Russian Poland, near the Polish city of Chelm. Chelm was celebrated, by the Ashkenazi Jews, as the place where the fools dwelt. And my grandmother loved to tell the traditional stories of Chelm.

Its residents, for example, once decided that there was no point in having the sun shine during the day, when it was light out—it would be better should it shine at night, when it was dark. Similarly, we modern Solons delight in passing gun laws that, in their entirety, amount to “making crime illegal.”

What possible purpose in declaring schools “gun-free zones”? Who bringing a gun, with evil intent, into a school would be deterred by the sign?

After discussing the benefits of having armed guards in schools, Mamet brings the article full circle:

The police do not exist to protect the individual. They exist to cordon off the crime scene and attempt to apprehend the criminal. We individuals are guaranteed by the Constitution the right to self-defense. This right is not the Government’s to “award” us. They have never been granted it.

The so-called assault weapons ban is a hoax. It is a political appeal to the ignorant…

Will increased cosmetic measures make anyone safer? They, like all efforts at disarmament, will put the citizenry more at risk. Disarmament rests on the assumption that all people are good, and, basically, want the same things.

But if all people were basically good, why would we, increasingly, pass more and more elaborate laws?

The individual is not only best qualified to provide his own personal defense, he is the onlyone qualified to do so: and his right to do so is guaranteed by the Constitution.

President Obama seems to understand the Constitution as a “set of suggestions.” I cannot endorse his performance in office, but he wins my respect for taking those steps he deems necessary to ensure the safety of his family. Why would he want to prohibit me from doing the same?

Feinstein calls for banning more than 150 types of firearms during dramatic press conference

This is from The Daily Caller.

The Wicked Witch Of  The West is trying to strike again.

We need to call, write and email our Congress Critters and sound our opposition.

The fight to preserve The Second Amendment is under way.

We must defiantly say Molon Laube!

I will get you my pretty and your little gun too.

WASHINGTON — California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein staged a dramatic press conference Thursday on Capitol Hill with 10 weapons at her side and unveiled legislation instituting a government ban on more than 150 types of firearms, including rifles, pistols and shotguns.

Flanked by other anti-gun liberal lawmakers, including New York Sen. Chuck Schumer and Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, Feinstein announced the introduction of the “Assault Weapons Ban of 2013.”

The legislation being pushed by Feinstein — who has long history of calling for gun bans — would prohibit the sale, transfer, importation and manufacture of certain firearms.

Feinstein said the country’s “weak” gun laws allow massacres like the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting occur.

“Getting this bill signed into law will be an uphill battle, and I recognize that — but it’s a battle worth having,” Feinstein said in literature handed to reporters at the Thursday event.

Others who joined the Democrats for the press conference included Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and Washington National Cathedral dean Gary R. Hall. (RELATED: Episcopal dean of National Cathedral teams up with Democrats on guns)

This sort of stunt from Feinstein — displaying weapons for dramatic effect while discussing new gun laws — is hardly new. Joe Morrissey, a Democratic delegate in Virginia, caught some colleagues by surprise last week by bringing an AK-47 onto the floor of the House of Delegates while calling for gun control.

And David Gregory, the moderator of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” found himself in hot water for displaying a high-capacity gun magazine during an interview with a leader of the National Rifle Association in December. NBC studios are in Washington D.C., where having possession of such magazines is illegal. While DC police investigated the incident, no charges were filed.

Leadership and the Second Amendment

This is from Clash Daily.

We have evicted God from our schools.

No longer is right and wrong taught today.

We no longer have God-fearing leaders.

When I was a boy attending a country school in western Pennsylvania, every classroom had a copy of the Ten Commandments framed and hung on it’s wall. One of those commandments was: “Thou Shall Not Kill.” It unequivocally told us children that killing was wrong and that those who killed would be severely punished.

It reminded us that “Not Killing” was a societal behavior standard and we school children saw it in big print every day, all day. It was a constant reminder to us that killing was not only wrong, but a sin. That standard sunk in and all of the children in my school grew up knowing that killing was evil, and that American society would not tolerate it.

Because children in school today have few societal standards to help them know the difference between right and wrong, our civilization has lost its integrity. We have departed from and destroyed the roots of American civilization; and we have eroded the principles and standards of decent behavior.

We have also become hypocrites. President Obama’s children attend a school in Washington, DC that is protected by armed guards, but he refuses to support the idea that children attending public schools should be protected by armed guards. And he does not champion teaching school children basic foundational and fundamental standards of conduct such as the Ten Commandments.

The mentally and emotionally disturbed killers who have been slaughtering our school children of late are fundamentally troubled, unprincipled and rootless. Society has cut them off from our nation’s historic roots and moral teachings and rejects them when, as adults, they act like they have been cut off from those roots and teachings. Now is the time to re-establish and rebuild the walls of the nation’s historic, moral and cultural foundations, those laid by our Founding Fathers.

Can we prevent the killing and slaughtering of America’s school children? Certainly we can. Let us train and authorize all teachers who are willing to volunteer to qualify for concealed carry gun permits. Enough of them will voluntarily carry weapons that no armed intruder will be able to successfully break into a school and systematically execute little children and their teachers one by one as happened at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The problem that bedevils our society is not gun violence; it is a lack of spiritual and ethical standards, an absence of proper leadership, and an absence of a climate of good, solid mental health nourished by thriving cultural roots. Love and empathy won’t keep children safe; armed teachers and security guards will.

In Michigan a few days before the Sandy Hook shooting incident, labor union thugs resorted to all sorts of foul language and violence, punched in the head and stomach a TV news reporter and threatened to kill him; then they threatened that if a right-to-work law were passed by the state legislature, there would be blood in the streets.

If we had real leadership in the White House and the US Congress, all of our elected officials of both political parties would have gone before the TV cameras and said that such demonstrations of hatred and violence would not be tolerated and that if there was blood in the streets, the police would arrest the union members involved, put them in jail and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.

Instead, the President and Congress were intimidated into silence by the political power wielded by the unions. That silence sent the union thugs a clear message. “Do whatever you want to do. Beat people up, threaten them with death. You won’t be arrested or prosecuted and you can count on the federal government protecting your back.” Why should a mass murderer in Connecticut show restraint when both the President and the Congress refused to show any?

Guns used to protect the President or the police are considered good. Evidently guns used to protect little school children are considered bad. But guns are neither good nor bad; they are simply mechanical devices. Based on how they are used, they can kill people or they can keep people from being killed.

A foundational principle of our society used to be that there was no “culture of violence” and that the killing of children and school teachers was unacceptable, would not be tolerated and anyone who did it would be arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned. To remind us of this standard of acceptable conduct, on the walls of school classrooms was fixed a copy of the Ten Commandments.

First, the nation should return to the practice of hanging a copy of the Ten Commandments on school classroom walls and teachers should daily teach them to their students. Second, we should not hesitate to allow teachers who volunteer to be trained, to carry concealed weapons.

And three, such actions are meaningless absent strong Presidential leadership of the kind of Teddy Roosevelt and, without such leadership, there is no chance of success, no chance of returning our country to the virtuous national character it had when it was passed on to us by our Founding Fathers.

Leadership does not simply consist of tired, repetitive presidential lectures and slogans given to a bored citizenry. Real leaders lead by example. Like General George Washington they lead from up front, from where the bullets are whizzing and the mortar rounds are exploding. They shout, “Follow Me;” and a grateful citizenry responds with, “We Are On The Way.”

These three steps will not entirely solve our “culture of violence” problems; but they could help us begin the long, slow, painful process of returning law, order and safety to our schools and to rebuilding the nation’s morality.
